Just like this summer right?

Sorry but i think this summer has shown Woodward is still naive when he comes to the transfer market. LVG stepped in to keep Depay away from PSG, three signings were made (rushed) two days before we flew out to the US, we've not sorted out De Gea (although i admire the clubs stance) and we've not got a central defender yet.

We may not be interested in Pedro, but to many sources say we are. The world knows the release clause, but he's still at Barca.

He is still naive cause we 'rushed' 2 players before the club went to USA?
All right mate.

Bit narrow minded with your thinking, everyone slated Woodward 2 seasons ago for making last minute signings and last season we made late signings but were World Class players. This season he has shown he can tie transfers up in no time and you still think he is naïve. The pedro situation is different as if true he asked to leave as the club were trying everything to keep him. The signings we have made have fitted in quickly, Morgan, Bastian and Darmian, Depay needs a bit longer despite him being signed well before the USA tour. So the 3 rushed signings as you put it have fitted in quicker than Depay who has been at the club a couple of weeks longer.

DDG wants to leave but will stay and fight for the team for the season, he hasn't made any fuss about leaving publicly and United are showing they wont be treated like a smaller club just because Madrid want to sign him for peanuts. Id rather he went for free than for a small amount now, theres always the possibility of him staying at the club.

Agree. The circus of Real may self implode at any time.

 Rushed, before we'd even played a game of preseason. You have literally no idea how long the negotiations went on for or how much had already been concluded before the club announced things.

I wonder if Young is up to seeing off the threat of Pedro like he did with Di Maria. Would be a real feather in his cap if he can fight off the two challenge of two players who on paper are vastly superior.

It's almost clever how well you've managed to twist what we've done this summer to suit your negative agenda.

Was Sanchez overjoyed to be swapping Barca for Arsenal? The reality is very few Barca/Real players ever want to leave but it doesn't stop them being successful elsewhere if they have the right attitude.
He'd have to give his all or there's no way he will get in the Spain squad.

I do get this.. But surely living in Hale, Alderley Edge or elsewhere in the Cheshire countryside allows them the chance to live a relatively incognito life away from the hustle and bustle of LDN. Surely not every player craves London?

And anyway, Manchester is a fantastic city with plenty of chances for players to gain these experiences.
Get Juan and Ander to tell him about Manchester's merits.

Not really negative. Just calling it how i see it.

Yes i have no idea how long negotiations had been going on for, or when they were completed (although the fact that they all had medicals the same weekend, and had to be presented when we got to the US says something)

It's probably not the thread for it, but if you look throughout the three windows he's been in charge, you can see a lot of confusing behavior.

But what is your issue with signing players before the tour? Shouldn't we have signed Darmian, Schneiderlin or Schweinsteiger? They are good players in positions where we needed to strengthen, we didn't have to pay exorbitant fees for them - what is your issue?

So he did not say he wants to leave ..Even the beeb went along with it. I think he just wants some Barca love.

Hard to understand how United fans could expect anything different. Cantera player in perhaps the greatest team ever, natural that he expressed what he did

But also naive to believe that translates to getting a disgruntled or unmotivated player
I feel sorry for you. Some United fans just complain for the sake of complaining because their life would be empty otherwise.

My issue is that, to me, it's confusing that we've had all summer... apparently all our targets have long been identified and we wait till the weekend before we fly out on tour to bring them in. I'm no expert in football negotiations but that just seems rushed to me. I'm glad we got those players, and glad they came in.. Just to me it seems like there was a bit of panic and rush to get them through and on the plane before we flew out. But hey.. lucky now rather than on deadline day....

Barcelona's success over the last decade has seen its share of new 'fans' as well. Every club has cynical or gloom/doom supporters

From what he said, he does not want to leave Barca, but if he can't play more than he'll look for it somewhere else.

Guess it's similar to Di Maria and Madrid. He wanted to stay at Madrid, knew he'd spend most of the season on the bench if he did.

I feel a little bit sad for him. The end of an era after 11 years, not really wanting to leave but knowing it's probably the best thing for your career.

Come join our little Spanish speaking contingent and they'll help you settle (maybe not Dave though).

This one can backfire again . Loves Barca , does not want to leave just wants a starting role at the club he loves

Confusing media reports or actual confusing behaviour?

Yep. Would be a great signing but he clearly stated he would like to stay at Barcelona. I don`t want another AdM disaster. Better wait until Bale is getting tired of all the sunshine.

He really does not want to leave does he?

I wouldn't force the issue if his heart isn't in it. I mean, it's just Pedro. We don't need you that much either pal.
Well we clearly do need him. And offcourse he doesnt want to leave, he has come through the team and won everything. He is leaving because he is in his prime and wants more playing time.

If Bale leaves Madrid it will be because they don't want him anymore, which will be exactly the same reason ADM left. But off course most of you will ignore that...

There is nothing official about our interest in him so what do you want him to say? A director at the club has said he wants to leave so he's explaining why for their fans, he shouldn't be sucking up to United fans.

And we do need him.

I think it was more of the case of Real Madrid wanting to get rid because they wanted to fund Rodriguez and Kroos with the money. Turned out to be a good move as both Kroos and Rodriguez have been very good for them.

Understand that early on in transfer windows the power is very much with the selling club, if they want to wait until they've found and agreed a deal for a replacement player or they want to have extensive talks with the player to try and keep them then it's entirely up to them. The level of caliber of player we are trying to sign means no club wants to sell them and if we decide to look elsewhere for a quicker option the selling club would have no issues finding another buyer or keeping the player, we can't control the negotiations.

The fact we were able to bring in so many of our targets before our tour should be seen as an achievement.

From what I gather Pedro has told someone else at the club that he will be leaving and sports director passed that on without permission. He has not spoken directly to director but the message was there.

Exactly. apparently. Also buying players is not just hey give me the player I'll give you the money.

He can't be guaranteed games and he knows it, he's not from Barcelona either, is he? Or am I mistaken?
He's from Tenerife but moved to Barcelona from local academy at the age of 16.

If he is leaving Barca for regular first team football, I would imagine LvG is probably the wrong manager to play under with his "everyone must prove themselves" attitude.
