If this news about us being all stingy about a couple of mil is true, then it'll be really disappointing. 30m euros is more then fair as a release clause, it's probably a little less then what he could be valued at. Not to mention that we just got rid of Di Maria and can spend basically as much as we want. Why risk missing out on him?

The only reasonable thing to think is that it's media bollocks trying to get some clicks.
Not even bothered going into those kind of articles.

I really don't think we would be refusing to pay £22m for Pedro insisting on a £18m fee. Of course we might be trying to negotiate the price down a little but certainly won't make the final decision over £4m when we clearly need him.

Take us out of the mix - is there any other club that would pay €30m for Pedro?
I would have thought many a club would be happy with signing Pedro for £21m in this day and age. He probably has demands of a top league, CL football and key role which would cancel out most. We on the other hand can offer all 3.

Chelsea could really use him. I'm surprised they haven't tried to get him to be honest.

Probably because he cost €30. For a bench warmer that is expensive. They are Chelsea'ing us.

Liverpool, Chelsea, City, some italian/French/German teams probably. Anyone who could afford him. It's a very fair price and he'd be a very useful player for most teams out there, especially as there aren't exactly many top right wingers around right now.

The two clubs are hagling....both can afford to really. This will probably go on until the last day of the transfer deadline I reckon....that and another goalkeeper after DDG goes

Wasn't asked in a critical way, I'd welcome him here.

There are a good few clubs that could afford him but looking at it, nobody has and I wonder if that's for a reason beyond our "interest" in him.

'Buy now, pay later'

:nono:

We were critical of PSG proposing a low fee for Di Maria. The same for De Gea and Madrid, and here we do the same tactic for Pedro

Come on pay the 30M and take him asap

People need to calm down - We heard the same stories when the Morgan deal looked like it dying.

Pedro is ours, too much smoke now for it to fall through. Reckon it'll get wrapped up early next week

Our position isn't like anyone elses though, We are in desperate need of some pace in the team now. What others do doesn't matter.
Surprised Chelsea aren't in for him, or maybe they are behind the scenes. They need a goalscoring player for their right wing.

Why does it always seem that our transfers are long and drawn out, then more often than not amounts to nothing just cough up the money and buy the lad.

The Chelsea situation this Summer is strange, it's kind of as if Roman has wanted to cut back on the spending a bit again. Pedro would be great in that team, Yet I still think Salah would of been good to had he been given a proper chance and not 10 minute cameos every few weeks.

Lallana - £22 million/Young - £18 million/ Downing - £20 million/ Balloteli - £16 million/ Cuadrado - £26 million/

I think its fair to say Pedro is worth £22 million, and plenty of other clubs would pay it for him.

I will be very disappointed if we end up not getting Pedro because our valuation is £5M off. That's the ticket revenues for one Carling Cup game at home ffs.

Because the rumour mills have no idea what's going on. Look at the incoming transfers of Di Maria, Memphis, Schweini and Schneiderlin, all accomplished quickly with no drawn out media sagas, which makes me think we're not signing Pedro.

Totally agree and great comparison with the other purchases around the league for similar monies. I would stump up the cash for him in a heartbeat, well worth it at that amount. Think we paid more than that to have Falcao for one season in wages alone.

Mirror likely just spouting nonsense again. I do hope we settle it quickly now that Di Maria has officially left. Their valuation is already pretty cheap plus an upgrade to our squad.

Same thing occurred to me. No news for a couple of weeks on an impending transfer so the tabloids try to generate some hits/sell a few papers with made up nonsense.
Pedro himself could be holding the deal up to see if we qualify for the champions league

A couple of pages back someone asked whether Pedro really has a € 30M release clause or if it's just a gentleman's agreement. Here is what Barca's new sports director says:

Hope not.

A player with the right attitude would join now and back himself to help ensure we qualify.
To be fair, if I were him I wouldn't risk missing out on the Champions League for a season. It'd be quite understandable.
