This Super Cup bit is really irritating me if true. Why do Barca care so much about that glorified friendly? Plus I read Messi and Neymar will get minutes tonight in Joan Gamper trophy. So, in a week's time, they should play for longer and even start the match. Then they have some youngsters to bring on as sub. What if Pedro gets injured? cnuts.

I hope they've got this one wrong.
Heh wanted to asked you if you are joking and then saw your location. You most probably rate him highly if you are worried about it even if you have Messi, Neymar and Suarez in attack.
I talked with my friend who is Barca fan and he thinks you ae doing much bigger mistake then you did when you sold Sanchez.

It's not that Barcelona are making a mistake, obviously they want to keep him. But if they can't offer him a key role and weekly football, then they can't do anything about the fact he wants to leave. Pedro is 28 now and is probably craving to be a key player for a team.

If he picked up a knock, I imagine they'd be quite happy :)

So, is he playing another last game for Barca tonight?

The SuperCup is a bit more than a glorified friendly though. In the recent years the clubs participating in it have usually fielded their best XI on the pitch because it's broadcasted all over the world and plenty of high-profile people will be present too.

Had a hard time getting excited about this one, but the more I think about the more I like it. He's not a flashy player or even one that you think about when listing top players in his position, but he's efficient and perhaps most important; he's excellent off the ball. We've always had players the last couple of seasons that couple pin-point a pass or a through ball, but there's been a general lack of motion in the final third and this is where I think (and hope) Pedro could fit in brilliant.

I doubt that changes the nature of the game though. Clubs can field strong XI, give everything to win but if they lose it, it hardly matters. It is just an European competition version of Community shield or the other domestic super cups.
As far as high profile players, they will still be there. When it comes to high profile names from Barcelona, Pedro's name will be down in the list somewhat.

The most impressive thing about Pedro is that he has averaged over 50 appearances a season for Barca over the last 6 years. That indicates he is a good player and not often injured, a useful combination. And he has averaged over 16 goals a season.

That's it, I think a lot of people assume because he isn't a starter every game for Barca then he isn't good enough for us.
We are miles behind Barcelona at the minute, and he's a massive improvement over any winger we have at present.

Add to that the fact he's not a player who will fade away in big matches. Scored a vital goal in the 2011 CL-final and I've lost count how many times he has scored against Real Madrid (usually with a perfect run).

I just hope he can cope with the physicality of the league, sth Di Maria struggled with.
But did Di Maria really struggle with it? He was good for the first few months, and after that I thought it was his mentality that let him down, not the physicality.

Barca badly want to equal their record of 2011, six trophies in one calendar year. Actually Pedro scored in all finals that year.

You might be right. I hope it won't be a problem for Pedro as I think he's a wonderful footballer. Small as hell though.

Whens the cut off point for registering him so he can be available for saturday? not sure if this has been asked/answered. Apologies if it has

I don't think he will be available for Saturday, especially under LvG

Messi and Neymar haven't played a single game yet this pre season. The European super cup will only be their second match after today. They also play A.Madrid in the Super Cup games and start the season away to Athletic Bilbao. Hard matches that they dont want to lose.

he's had a full preseason though so surely he'll go straight into the squad, perhaps not start v spurs but i dont see why a cameo is out of the question if we can get him here by friday

not like he isnt fit. Im sure he could find a place on the bench no?
he might be fit, but not "match fit". he might even be "match fit", but still lacking "match rhythm" here at United...

well have him for Villa game to prepare for playoff and I'm fine

They play Bilbao in Super cup not Atletico. Anyway, I am not saying they should ignore those games but they are not the kind of games to hold a transfer for. Worst case they lose those 2 ties, it is not going to take away anything from last season's treble. If they win, they can go on about sextuple etc but no one actually counts it seriously. United however can use Pedro for games that matter...we have a crunch CL play off tie plus league starting 2 week before theirs. It is also not if they don't have options. They can play Munir, Rafinha etc.

How do you get match fit and get match rhythm if not by playing matches has anyon asked LVG that?
