I must admit I've hardly seen him play.

But what makes everyone think he would make us that much better?

Stats dint tell everything but his stats suggest he is a similar player to Mata. He scores and assists and keeps possession and passes well.

We need speed and dribbling and Pedro hardly beats players.

He is quick, intelligent, good movement, great team player, good end-products, consistent and skillful enough to play 40 games/season in Barca front 3. What more can you ask for?

imo he is a good replacement for ADM. different player and plays in a different position but he will score more goals (less assists though) .

agree that he is quick, got good movement and decent end product as well.

Yeah if only transfer business was this easy. Everyone seems to know exactly how he is going to do. Most ''know'' it will be the best possible outcome, some expect the worst.

I really hope we get this one wrapped up soon. I'd hate us to miss out on him because we're chasing Bale for ridiculous fees.

Pedro for £20 odd million would be one of the bargains of the century.
Agreed, seems to be hugely underrated on here.

Pedro's fecking rapid and can beat players at will. What's good about him is that he knows when to dribble and when to pass. You clearly haven't seen much of him. Not sure why since he's been a regular in the best team in the world for years. You are in for a pleasant surprise.:)

I dont remember thinking Pedro is rapid, having seen him play 20 odd times. Quick yes, but not Di Maria fast. Maybe I'm wrong but when I think of him I dont think of his pace. I think of his productivity, always seem to get an assist or a goal, which is great. Bit more like Muller (As a winger) in that sense, highly productive.

I would say he's becoming more and more overrated tbh.

He's a good player who will do well for us if we buy him but some of the opinions expressed on here are ludicrous, 'one of the bargains of the century', 'best signing we have made in years', 'fourth best player at barcelona'... way over the top.

Many of the people praising him don't even to appear to watch him play considering they seem to think he's good at beating players. He's not, last season his successful take-ons were 1.22 per 90 minutes, the year before it was 0.99, the year before that it was 1.09. Young does better than that, really good dribblers do considerably better. If people think we need tons more pace, dribbling and creativity in our attack then Pedro won't solve that. If people think we just need someone who is perfectly suited to a possession system and is an excellent goal scorer then Pedro is ideal.

Can't go wrong with a good turbo midget.

He's clinical in front of goal and we're going to need that this season I feel. Him and Depay flanking Rooney with one of Mata/Herrera should be enough to put the willies up opposition defences.

I think Pedro can beat players more often than 1.22 times per 90 min. Thing is he's not the kind of player that will challenge opposition players. He often sit far out on his wing and try to get in between players. Barca have so many options that they don't need to have Pedro doing the dribbling for them. However, I believe he's going to be a very sharp executor in the box, someone who's very hard to stop when running at speed towards goal with the ball at his feet. Hopefully he can create some great play upfront and perhaps fix us a penalty or two ;)

He's got a good knack of being in the right place at the right time to tap the ball home, too often we seemingly don't have a player in the right position to finish, or simply not in the box at all. At least he'll go someway to delivering that.

I always thought Pedro was better than Sanchez whilst both were at Barcelona. I'm pretty sure Pedro accumulated slightly better stats.

If Pedro can perform anywhere near the level at which Sanchez did last season, then we'd be signing a gem.

I don't think he's overly creative, but he has the knack of being at the right place at the right time (as above poster says), and that'll definitely help us score.

It's awfully quiet on the transfer front, things better get going before Friday!

Pedro has end product which I think is the most important part of his game. He gets goals and has the knack of just popping up in the right place to tap the ball away after a cross which is something we lack. Mata has the ability to do that but lacks the pace.

Would be great for us and really hope we get him.

Didn't Pedro start over Sanchez and Suarez coming just spelled the end for Sanchez or am I misremembering this... ?

It was Neymar signing that pushed Sanchez out.
Yet before Neymar it was a battle between Pedro/Sanchez for that position. And Pedro was favored (though personally I preferred Sanchez's explosive attacking). If we get Pedro for 20-22mill, it's a bargain.

And it would top off this transfer window. Though I'm expecting a pure goal-scoring striker still to come.

Sanchez played the 6th most minutes of any Barcelona player in his final season. He was also their second highest goal scorer as well as joint second highest number of assists.

He didn't really get pushed out so much as his value was high and it was sensible of them to get a nice profit on the player when they were going to have such a fantastic attack without him anyway.

We aren't leaking anything this year, so it will stay quiet until it's a done deal. Unless someone in Spain gets hold of some facts.

I'd rather gives the kids a go, been saying for weeks. However, Pedro would be better in my Fifa team.

He’s a massive upgrade on Mata. He’s quite similar in terms of effectiveness, but also much faster and hard working on and off the ball. Mata is ok but we will be better team with Pedro.

Yes we need speed and dribbling but there are no players available who will fit us better than him IMO.

Thank you.

My point was most here would love Sanchez and clearly Pedro at worst would be called his equal... yet we don't need him... okay ;) .

Has any progress been made in the last few days? Just seems like we've been at this "on the verge" stage for ages.

He will be brilliant for us. I wish this was completed before the Spurs game.

It might be, remember it supposedly only takes a day for a transfer to be completed according to LvG.

I've no doubts Barca will miss this guy. It was what made our 99 team so good, not just the 11 who start you need subs who can come on an maintain that level which is hard to find.

Messi will certainly miss him that's for sure.

This will be the signing of the summer for me.

Even if it is I doubt he'd start, Louis would want him to go through at least a week training to get up to speed.

Bloody hell. That's some stat.

Absolutely. He's been the second highest goalscorer for a Barca that have dominated Europe in that time, and at times had arguably the best club team ever seen.

He might not be the big name superstar that makes headlines, but I don't see how anyone could be against the signing.

"but, but, but any half a decent attacker can do so playing for that Barca team..."

'He's only a slight upgrade on Young'

Isn't he the only striker that has been that long though? Although he has outscored Zlatan/Henry/Villa/Nerman individually and has very good goals/minutes ratio and very good conversion rate.
yeah I think so, probably another reason to be positive

I didn't want him at first, but he kinda grew on me and now I hope we sign him. I don't know why, maybe I realized that he is better than I thought, or maybe I'm just worried that we are getting stuck with Young as a key player again... :nervous:

Pedro at 20-22 million is a no brainer. Simple as that. He wont be on crazy high wages and who knows he could be our "Sanchez" in terms of goal scoring impact
