he could be our sanchéz signing, excellent for the money, player working hard for the team, the only concern is the gametime of my fav youngsters who could also have great seasons if given chances, Adnan and Andreas..

If we don't sign a Striker... which I am becoming more open to I think Adnan will see significant game time. He could and probably should be ahead of Wilson and Hernandez is he shows the form he did vs Barca

I wouldn't rule out Hernandez, though I do think we might need to address his contract.

hope you're right but he needs to bulk up even more and train hard his finishing and overall composure in front of the goal. He's not killer finisher like Wilson but apart that he has some similarities in movement with young RVP..

Pedro surely isn't this marquee signing that LvG craves, is he?
Agreed, though I don't think that "marquee" is available this season.

Bayern said they're not selling to us again this window. Bale/Ronaldo aren't going anywhere this summer. Ditto Reus, by all accounts.

We're not exactly going to be doing business with any of our rivals IMO.

A smart replacement but wouldn't be eligible to play until January

I read a few reports in the news today. Smart choice indeed. If I recall correctly, he was good against Barca last season. His dribbling is better than Pedro.

So according to reports it's real close to agreeing a deal

Hopefully it will be really quick so that he has time to settle.

Manchester United close to agreeing deal with Pedro
The Red Devils have decided to bring the Barcelona forward to Old Trafford

Manchester United's executive vice-president Edward Woodward is back in England after joining the US tour. After witnessing the match between Man United and Barcelona (3-1) and seeing Pedro in action, he has given his approval for United to pay €32.5million for the forward, who is not happy at Barcelona.

Although the club doesn't want to sell, United are going for it and are close to reaching an agreement with the player. That's why Woodward is back in Manchester. He will speak with pedro's agent and reach an agreement before conducting transfer negotiations.

However, Pedro is looking forward to playing in the European Super Cup in Tbilisi and his move to Manchester United may not happen until after that.

All this talk of Barca wanting to keep hold of Pedro until after the European Super Cup doesn't make any sense to me. He's not even a starter and it's pretty much the European Charity Shield.

Massive font. Must be true. :)

The clause is €22m/£15m - not £22m/€30m. Andy Mitten has staked his reputation on that €22m figure & he's been bumming Pedro for years, so he knows Pedro's shit.

Even so, £22m for Pedro is a fantastic deal - if we pull this one off of course (expensive handjob it has to be said though)..

 How do you know such intimate details of Mitten and Pedro's relationship RHD?

Random question and may have been asked before.

If Pedro plays in the super cup, will he be still eligible for CL when/if he moves?.

Whilst I'm not 100% certain I'd imagine yes.

You don't qualify for the CL by winning the Super Cup, which tends to be the category in these things.

Yes. Moreno played for Sevilla in last years Super Cup and still played for Liverpool in the Champions League.

Except none of the individual brilliance or creativity yeah...

The deals done IMO. Were just waiting to finalise the deal after this European super cup.
Spanish press make a big deal of these showcase games. All this 'Barca are competing for 6 titles' nonsense that they had in 2010 as well. If Messi and Neymar hadnt have competed in the Copa America and needed more time to recover he would be a United player as we speak.

I'm pretty sure it must be Pedro the player he is talking about. He mentioned pace and creativity which is pretty much a description of Pedro. I'm fine with it if it is and think people will be surprised how good he will fit into our team.

I liked this stat from Sky earlier;

La Liga Aug2010- Present Assists
Combination Total
Benzema and Ronaldo 31
Messi and Pedro 28
Ozil and Ronaldo 24
Dani Alves and Messi 19
Messi and Sanchez 18
Messi and Villa 18

Not bad for a player that isn't a starter. Would have expected Di Maria to be up there. I think he would be a great player for Rooney.

except the same thoughts on Sanchéz last year. People are underrating Pedro, one of them is you..

If we don't buy him and he ends up in chelsea banging/setting goals every game this place will be full of crying people. He would be ideal player for Mourinho on other flank to help Hazard with productivity, instead of a bit floppy Cuadrado and previously german second tier quality player (Schurle) this would be a great signing for them. Apart his attacking contribution he also works hard for the team which is always great quality to have, would fit into Chelsea's or our squad easily..

Also he couldn't be any worse than diMaría

This was the Sanchez that Arsenal purchased, I don't see a lack of individual brilliance or creativity there. All we can expect Pedro to do is finish the chances we provide for him, he is simply a goalscoring winger

Don't think he's considered a former cantera player though considering he wasn't a La Masia product?

Being a former cantera player means he knows the club, philosophy and in his case even experience with the first team - easier integration

La Masia product is a different distinction which I didn't claim

If Pedro has been available since he signed a new contract back in June, why didn't Bayern go for him? We know Guardiola rates him highly, but they went for Douglas Costa for a similar fee.

Are we over-hyping Pedro? Is Douglas Costa the better player?
