If we can sell ADM for €60m and bring in Pedro for €30m then that is good business.

I'm still a bit reluctant to get excited though given his age and time it may take him to get used to the league.

In the UWS podcast near the start Mitten asks Ogden if we'll buy a striker, he says no but they'll get a guy who can play across the front and then suggests Pedro.
Further in Ogden then says Rooney can't be relied on to get the goals and they need a top man who'll get them 25-30 goals per season.

So surely then we need a top striker even though he suggests otherwise.

Well 15mil euros is 22m pounds.

Think that was a typo Mali?

None of our attackers are allowed to be 'free as a bird' under Louis.

Thats not true. I expect Memphis to be free just as Robben was at Bayern and in Netherlands. If Pedro will be free also even better.

I agree with Mali here Roz. After the season Memphis had - it would be stupid to change his game too much, when he was absolutely brilliant as an all-round free-roaming forward player.

Not so sure about Memphis playin directly behind Rooney tbh though - i'd much rather see him & Rooney roaming all over the last third, instead of being too structured in the traditional number 10 & number 9 roles. I think LvG's just experimenting with the Memphis atm though & to see how it pans out.

Barca have the same blueprint now, that we had with Tevez, Rooney & Ronnie in 2008. Hard to believe that was 7 years ago too..

does Ogden actually know substantially these days?

He could be a good team player, but Van Gaal said we need world class players like Neymar and Hazard to be competitive at the highest levels

Pedro's contract was ending in 2017. I guess he wants to leave now, not in two years.

He doesn't really fit the bill when you consider Lvg's comments.

That's only assuming that he's being bought for the role Van Gaal describes.

There's other squad roles that need filling.

Schneiderlin fits the role we required for CM better than Schweinsteiger did, didn't stop us buying both.

Its already been posted here that there is an understanding between Pedro and Barcelona that if a club bids €30m for him he will be allowed to leave if he wants to.

 Verbal agreements are wonderful. He could have had that without the contract renewal. If United offered 30m, Barca will just demand 35m and deny the existence of the "agreement."

Yes I am assuming of course. I don't see us bringing two attackers in. Then again, like you say, central midfield. That would be slightly worrying though for the prospects of januzaj and pereira getting game time.

If Pedro wanted to leave, why did he sign a new contract on June 4th? Idiot.
It's a no-sense, as free agent he would have an highest wage

Probably signed to give Barcelona a better negotiating angle. If he was due to be free next year, we might not have bid more than 20m euros or so. Its kinda what I want De Gea to do, sign an extension and have an agreement in place where he can go for a certain amount.

No, It was finishing next summer.

Except the Barcelona press release explicitly says his release clause will remain 150m.

They had a verbal agreement I think.

We've got plenty of room for more attackers. Especially as we should be looking to upgrade and move on from some of them.

ST: Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson, (Januzaj)
Wide: Mata, Young, Depay, Januzaj
AM: Herrera, (Depay), (Periera), (Mata), Fellaini

From that list we could move on Young and Hernandez no trouble. Leaving space for a wide player and striker.

There would be absolutely no harm in bringing in someone who will bench Rooney or at worst challenge him.

There's a lot of games to go around, we need quality in first and to think about numbers and moving players in after.

Might be the best player available.

i think he is.

with rooney promised a no.9 role now, we need another wide forward who can get us 10-15 goals, alongside depay .

ST: Rooney, Hernandez, Wilson, Januzaj
Wide: Mata, Young, Depay, Januzaj, Pedro, Wilson
AM: Herrera, Mata, Depay, Fellaini, Rooney

He's far from the elite game changing attacker LvG wants but in the current market he's our best option and an upgrade on either wing for us.

Yeah Barca screwing over a long serving Academy player for 5 million.

Nothing idiotic about it, his transfer has been in discussion since last season - the renewal simply improved the club's negotiating position
Not only that but its improved Pedros contract and worse case scenario, he stays at Barcelona for another few seasons. Sanchez was deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona and look at how he turned out for Arsenal, same could happen with Pedro. He has all the attributes to be a success for United, maybe a bit lightweight but he has played against the Worlds best defenders and made them look like fools.

Sign him up

With players like Depay, Hernandez and Pedro running behind the defense, you have ideal makings for a guy like Mata to absolutely run the show from the #10 spot.

Do.not.want.
Were is thy Pereira?

Is this so we can collectively wish him happy birthday or a statement that we shouldn't possibly be in the market for a WC, UCL winning 28 year-old Barcelona player?
If you want to wish him happy birthday, go ahead. If you want to interpret him turning 28, as an age related red flag, that's fine. Just me posting some trivial information.

Pedro surely isn't this marquee signing that LvG craves, is he?
