If we do sign Pedro, my opinion would be to play him on the right and start Mata in the middle behind Rooney.

Give Memphis more time to adapt and I don't feel he's been great in the hole on the tour.

I still can't see barca selling before their transfer ban is up as they don't have massive strength in depth up front beyond suarez messi Neymar and pedro

Im guessing you havent read a single report about this transfer?

Release clause mate.

They have already said they are powerless if we pay the release clause.

Maybe he had a 2nd season bluse so to say. I would compare his situation with that of Mateo Kovačić. Great talent but nobody is sure whats his best position and he has been shifted around a lot so his form dipped a lot in last 2 years.
We need to figure out which is Januzaj's best position and give him more chances there. Problem is if his best position is nr. we're already stacked there and he needs to grab his every chance now.[/QUOTE

I think that's right. He's got an enormous amount of talent. Hopefully he kicks on this year.

Didn't Wenger match the suarez release clause... Which is strange because liverpool didn't sell

I think I remember reading that Arsenal could have taken that further as Liverpool should have accepted but didn't because they thought it would take too long/be disruptive to their pre season or something

So barca could refuse to honour the release clause and by the time a solicitor was put on the case it would be 1st September and they would let him go in the winter when their ban is up anyway?
Also legally speaking a player has to buy himself out of the contract for the buyout clause to be recognised (rather than a release fee)
Decent summary here

Seen a lot of people talking about him as RVP's replacement. Has he ever played as a central striker?

I think he will replace ADM on the right while releasing mata so he will be able to play behind the striker

Surprised so many want to see this happen
It shouldn't be surprising though... He's a player who played a big role for Barcelona when they were arguably the best club side ever, scoring over 20 goals for the season. Since those days he hasn't been as good, but nobody in world football apart from Ronaldo would displace their current front 3, everyone will be a squad player. Fabregas and Sanchez were both squad players for Barcelona and Pedro has done more and been better for barcelona then those 2 were, and now those 2 are two of the best players in the premier league. Not saying Pedro is a better player of course, as the other 2 just didn't suit the side, but it shows that at his best, he's a quality player. Not like he's been bad for Spain either. Bringing him in will have someone who is well used to the style, a very hard working winger who is a very quick thinker and used to playing quick possession football because he's played at Barca his whole life, and someone with great pace and is a goal threat, at a very reasonable price.

After having initial doubts, I think he'd be great for us. Having him and Memphis running in behind defences gives us that pace in attack which we have been lacking since the Ronaldo days.

So who's realistically replacing the spineless prick that's leaving then? I can't think of anyone better. Especially at the price reported.

I guess that's it, I can't see him being any more of a squad player for us like Di Maria was last season. Hardly an exciting prospect though I wouldn't of thought

I prefer:

Rooney
Memphis - Mata - Pedro

Agreed. Pedro and a top centre half will set us up real nice for the season and put us in a good position to challange. I can see Ramos coming in and sadly De Gea leaving.

Top class keeper will be required if De Gea leaves.... Am not convinced by the replacements we've been linked to.

Possibly but I love Mata (as most do) so would prefer to see him play
Yes but Mata behind Rooney with Memphis and Pedro on the wings? Or if Van Gaal wants Memphis as the 10 long term, Mata can stay on the right and Pedro can play on the left as he's equally capable on either flank and also offers the work rate every game that Young does as well. I just think Van Gaal loves Mata because he's so calm and has so much quality on the ball, that I think he'll be a starter the vast majority of the time even if we sign someone else. We added more strength in our midfield so he won't have the same problem he did then.
