So in 2 days we have lost out on two players we were reportedly interested in, both to our rivals!

Key word. Don't believe everything you read in the twitterverse, in fact don't believe any of it :)

This is obviously a Abramovic signing because there's no way Mourinho will drop Willian and I'm not sure Pedro is suited to the number 10 role
So he's joining a manager who doesn't even want him because he wants more playing time? I wonder how Abramovich convinced him because he said it was never about money.

So is anyone actually really bothered that we didn't get him? He's a good player, and he would fit into a position where we're a bit light, but I'm not actually that fussed.

The stupidity and gullibility in here is scary.

Pedro wants to leave Barca...
Media links us with Pedro....
For click bait media create articles which Caf members swallow....
Caf members take it as gospel he'll arrive....
Apparently he's going to Chelsea...
Sky Sports say we've ended interest in Pedro.....
That being the same interest they likely fabricated......

Nobody on here knows a thing about United's dealings so do yourself a favour and stop believing everything you read.

Bizarre turn of events

Wtf changed that we don't him suddenly?

Who said it was sudden? I mean, everything has been very quite until Woodward 'fake' Barcelona trip.

Edit: The same goes for Otamendi, Clyne, Firmino, Cavani, Ibrahimovic.

Perhaps once Chelsea came in for him; he no longer wanted us.

We had ages to wrap this up. If we really wanted him, this would have been done. I get the feeling van Gaal wanted him but not desperately and something has happened to make him call it off. Can't for the life of me understand what it is though.

Jose didn't want him. LVG did not want him.

Chelsea buying him because the gangster is forcing the deal.

Also people saying he wouldn't join because of treatment of Valdes. Bullshit.

He's joining a manager who poked his ex manager in the eyes and got his team to kick the shit out of him and his teammates in nearly every game.

Absolutely think this is true.

Abramovich signing not Mourinho I reckon. Good player don't get me wrong and I've had liked him here. But is that really the area they need to strengthen? No. Mourinho trusts Willian in all of the big games so he'll now have to either leave him out or out Pedro on the bench anyway.

makes chelsea so much stronger too - if you guys want to compete with city / chelsea - you need some attacking additions..

Not really, he's a player both Sanchez and Neymar have ousted from the Barca side so we should really be aiming higher or giving the likes of Januzaj a chance

I don't get it. People complain about Januzaj not getting enough games and then the same folks get into meltdown when we don't sign a player who'd have hindered his development. May be we either have a better alternate option lined-up or LvG believes Pedro can not improve the squad as much as development of some of the youth players could possibly do. Either way, I think manager has every right to make the decision. No way, we'd have been outbid by Chelsea if both Pedro and us were genuinely interested.

Good point.

I wouldn't mind it too much if we miss out on Pedro.

As things stand, I'm happy that our defence and midfield can go toe-to-toe with Europe's best. It's the front four that are lacking. Memphis looks like he's on the cusp of becoming a Galactico, but you couldn't say the same about anyone else. I think we need at least one more attacking superstar if we want to realistically compete at the top. If we bought Pedro now, that'd just mean that we'd need to sell someone next season. Let's just try and buy a superstar now. If we can't find one, we still have plenty to finish top 3 in the league.

Pedro wouldn't have made us better than Chelsea/City but someone like Bale could. I'd rather wait for the right player. Young or Mata can do the job for now. There's no sense in making purchases for the sake of making the side slightly better. We have too big a squad as it is. I'd rather keep a space open for someone who can make a real difference.

Wishful thinking is quite often stupid.

Who said it was sudden? I mean, everything has been very quite until Woodward 'fake' Barcelona trip.

Reports have consistently been about personal deals being agreed upon and the only matter left was deciding on the way the fees would be paid. Suddenly, every ton dick and Harry has reported that LVG doesn't want him anymore. They've been briefed by the club as I see it.

They're all saying it's LVG's decision. He obviously saw what we did vs Bruhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhggge and decided we're perfect.
A better team would have beaten us, no cover for the fullbacks, dodgy goalkeeper and a flukey goal that wouldn't have happened if the ref had blown the whistle when he was originally going to. Play like that in the group stage and we will have problems. We are now relying on a kid to get the goal. None coming from midfield unlike last season, when they were our big threat.

We're an absolute shambles of a club

It's not exactl hard to see why we're miles behind City/Chelsea/Arsenal. It's exactly where we deserve to be.

Goals from the wing? Yes, I am bothered, especially with how Rooney is playing.

What?

Take me back to all the dithering we did during Moyes first and only summer window. And we know how that one ended up. Terrible in the sense that it was a big let down after hyping up everyone's expectation. Coupled with the poor handling of the De Gea saga, it's just leaving United with a battered image - feeling like the battle was lost even before the season got underway which is such a shame after so many good signings before the US tour.

He was a bargain, yet we wasted loads on ADM and wages for Falcao. Ridiculous from us. They better have a certain signing in min.

I am not so sure, I genuinely wasn't fussed at the prospect of him joining either way, but its easy to say that after the fact.

£30 million for him is a lot of money, and I can understand why the club was reluctant to spunk it one go.

It's 30m euros, about £22m.

Surely a bit much? It's disappointing to lose out on Pedro, but we've still done some decent business this summer. Schweinsteiger is a player I doubt a lot of people would've expected us to ever sign, while Depay, Schneiderlin and Darmain all look like good additions.

It's €30m, €28m up front, so it's less than £20m.

The only people trying to play down what a feck up this is are the Mata fanboys because now he'll slowly play every week.
