So odd that we supposedly just dropped interest like that considering LvG basically said at last weeks presser that it was up to Pedro now.

If Chelsea wrap it up just like that, it clearly shows that many players clearly view Chelsea as a better team than Man Utd and of course London was always a preferred destination
Or Chelsea wanted to do the deal quicker.

Last time I checked, some of the best Premier league players live in Manchester....

What makes be slightly doubt this is that they bought Cuadrado in January, so would they really fork up more money on a winger?

They never really gave Cuadrado a chance IMO. They signed him then gave him 5 minutes here and there then decided he was a flop (or that seems to be the general concensus anyway). He's still a quality player, but regardless Pedro would be an upgrade on him in terms of pure quality and they'd probably recoup some decent money on Cuadrado from past performances.

The only way this can be redeemed is if we go and get a top top player. Which let's face it isn't going to happen.

No further additions at united. Going to be found out.

I'm a little disappointed. We needed someone like him with the agility and quickness to partner Depay and I don't know who else we can go for.

What the feck has Woodward done? Surely, we (LVG) didn't want him for whatever reason. Or do you guys have special info that we pulled out of the deal because of extra few millions?

Saying that though, I am surprised we actually dont want him. Unless we get some one else, which doesn't look likely at the moment.

We have a shaky-as-feck GK, Daley Blind as CB and no strikers two weeks before the window shuts and people here are in meltdown because according to Marca we're not replacing a player (Di Maria) who hardly started during our best spell last season.

Chill the feck out. This place will see mass suicide in the next couple of weeks.

London is a huge draw. We have to face that. A player like Cabaye would go to Crystal Palace just to be in London. United obviously need to move Carrington to London...

I hope to god this isn't true... LVG said that he was the kind of player we needed.

We need pace!!! So why would we mess this up? LVG can't seriously think that we are ready to compete with this team?

See I'm not convinced by any of it because he's said he wants more players in.

Did you watch the game last night? we have plenty of pace.

Did he? If that's the case then maybe that's why we've dropped our interest?

How do you know it's up to Pedro. Reports are we pulled out of the deal..
Ya.. Ending interest is a nice way of telling that we lost the race.
Again it is all media stuff and we could at best only guess what goes behind. But if we were in the news for so long and Chelsea come into the picture and seal it within 2 days then I would believe that the player said he wants to go there.

There is no way we screwed this one up because of 5 million quid. I believe it is manager's decision. We have Young, Memphis, Januzaj and Mata (Lingard may also be showing some promises at training sessions) for flanks, Wayne and Chicha for leading the line, and Mata, Wayne, Herrera and Fellaini to play as a no 10. Not sure whether Pedro would be a huge improvement on what we have.

FFS, what pisses me off is not the fact we've lost out on him, but the fact a Chelsea side which is struggling will be boosted by this signing.

Maybe we lost the interest, pulled out of the race for some reason. We dont know if its that or Pedro pulling off. But I guess it's easier to say we're not a top destiantion anymore or whatever.

Said this yesterday as well but the media in their quest for headlines always make it seem like this club suddenly swooped in to get the deal done and stuff, Chelsea were the first club linked with Pedro and obviously his agent must have been in contact with lots of clubs. Barca didn't want to sell till the cup games and so it gave all the clubs time to decide if they want him and also gave Pedro the time to decide where he wanted to go. No one knows what the exact reason in the end was but I guess meltdowns happen best when you assume that we bottled it

No it isn't. Because you know in your heart of heart he will be moaning all season about not having the qualities in the team that Pedro would have brought.

You don't know what happened, apparently he is the one who stopped everything, he has his reason.

if it wasn't Pedro it would be someone else. Chelsea were always going to spend big once it was clear they were struggling this season.

When I first posted this last night I didn't really think he'd go to Chelsea. Gutted!

Hope we have something lined up but really isn't that much quality out there.

Whatever the case we've lost out to a top top player. And I don't for one second believe that LVG wants to go with the players at the club. He's repeated on a number of occasions that he wants another couple of players and we need pace.

Pedro either picked Chelsea or more likely we wouldn't offer what Barca wanted.

 why the hell did we not just give the 30m?

In tears at the meltdown in here and twitter. It's even funnier looking through the player performance threads with how many mentions of Pedro there are in each one

This was never about money. If we wanted him and he wanted to come here, we would have stumped up the cash without a second thought.

So either the player doesn't want to join us or the manager decided he didn't want him. In either case I'm fine with that outcome. I trust the manager's judgement and I don't want players in the team who don't want to be here (see Di Maria).

No way did Woodward, or whoever was negotiating, mess this up. It looks like as straight forward a transfer as you'll find.

Get over it people :)

Real bad this from utd! A rival getting him freshening up the team.

Utd missing out.

Hopefully they pull someone else out the bag, but be tough to find someone better, and no-one will be better value.
