I think Pedro is going to play out wide on either the right or left.

LVG has stated before he wants more pace and he specifically singled out Mata and young so one of those is in danger I think. And given Young was dropped on Friday...

I think Mata will come inside and Pedro will play wide right but this is LVG so maybe Pedro will play CB?

By "some reports", you actually mean "random people on Twitter", don't you?

Yeah I guess so. How random is random though? The report I saw was on twitter, but then a ten second check releases the follwing from the main page on googling 'Pedro'

Ranges from, 'he's ours' to 'he's finding it difficult' to 'City meet the asking proce'

(The is a capitalisation on the 'if' at the start of my original sentence!)

So all the more reliable sources indicate that he's as good as ours? Excellent.

(There's a capitalisation on the first letter of the first word in every sentence. That's how sentences work)

Ummm...for fear of going off topic, I'll just say I meant 'IF' capitalised, to mean 'if it's the truth', rather than your most erudite observations on sentences.

And if we can factor in the reliability of the sources, then it's all positive stuff. I really wouldn't know to the letter, which ones were the most reliable over the course of time, as I've seen some of the most prominent ones get it wrong, whilst others I've never heard of, have sometimes broken stories before anyone else.

There's too many sources out there to sort the wheat from the chaff tbh. You'll drive yourself mad trying to work out what Woody's actually achieved (good or bad) until you see the buying or selling club issue a statement. Best not to stress about anything you read online until then.

What's the rumoured wages he'll be on?

We've shifted a lot off the wage bill, and I wouldn't imagine Pedro would be on RvP/Di Maria/Falcao type wages.

I can't believe the mental stress I'm investing in transfers this summer tbh. I think it must be the Moyes debacle 2013, to the muppetfest hope of 2014)....I've got way more important things to be focusing on and seem to be using football transfer sagas as some type of displacement...or something

Found this one of the least mentally taxing windows in years, seeing as we've basically got the people we've been linked with, and the main muppet sagas I didn't really buy into (Ramos).

Very true. Posters always get swept up into false narratives peddled by rubbish twitter accounts, believe them, then get emotionally let down when said transfer doesn't happen. Best to avoid the transfer forum for the most part during the summer months and check back in at the end of the window to see what we have.

Hurry up and sign him. Feels like 12 years since we last signed a player.

I was thinking for those who think £22m is too high, Young was £17m, Nani was £18m and Valencia £16m, and that was 4+ years back and prices have inflated since then and none of them had the CV that Pedro has.

His mind is in Manchester already

Yeah, definitely this. It's been a fairly smooth summer. There was no Thiago or Vidal-like saga to drive us up the wall. I'd have preferred we had Pedro sealed before we kicked off the season, but it was well paced overall. An early coup to wet the appetite, then the French, German Italian triple combo, and now Pedro looks all but done. A great window.

Woodward needs to get his arse in gear and get the guy signed. Definitely not impressed with the time it's taking. We're not talking megabucks here.

F her in the pu55y and all that...
My wife popped our son out last August deadline day so I had to try and follow it all on my phone whilst saying push... your doing really well, WTF falcao erm nothing dear you just hurry up... erm carry on...

Even if he turns out to be a drug dealer, he will never be the biggest disappointment of that day.

Barcelona isn't going to guarantee him a place in the first team. If the trio is fit, they'll play. So, he isn't going to renew is contract and United should pay a realistic price for a sub. I think they're maybe willing to let him go in januari, when the ban is lifted. It's probably a difficult deal.

....Or we can pay them the €30M they are asking for, which is a very reasonable amount for a player of Pedro's caliber.

As someone who has just got out of bed following a nightshift that almost murdered me, are we any further forward with this or is it just business as usual? What's the over/under on us signing him?

I get the whole Madrid thing is to make our image look better to the big clubs as in ''feck off, we don't need to sell, we're the top dogs'' but why are we fighting with Barcelona all over €5m euro for a player worth more than we're gonna pay for him (£21m).

This fight over 5m (if that is really the case) just makes us look trifling IMO.

Hes not wanting to renew his contract, he already signed a new contract with them before the summer and had this clause inserted. £21.4m is a reasonable price for a player of Pedros quality. If Barcelona held Pedro until January then they can keep him, he would be cup tied and would be of no use to us for our goals this season. Coupled with the fact we would have played 4-5 months with a settled team and to add someone to that in January rarely comes to fruition.

Hes not going to get first team action when Neymar is back and I do believe the reports he has agreed terms with us and the fee has been met. Its the structuring of the fee that seems to be the stumbling block. There must be some reason we don't pay the money in full, perhaps to show the footballing World we wont be held to ransom and we can negotiate better deals for our transfers, even if its a couple of mil off.

Well, there are reports now that he's given us 3 days to get it sorted or it's off. Rightly so in my opinion, if we're not bothered enough to pay the asking price what commitment does that show to him?

We are bothered to pay the fee but the structure is different. Truth is that we don't know whats going on behind the scenes. We could have been waiting for Pedro to finish playing the Super cup games for Barcelona before he would leave. We have shown our commitment to him by offering him a contract and almost guaranteeing him first team football, which is what he craves. The 3 day ultimatum is a good thing for us as it should speed this along, if Woody was in Barcelona yesterday then I expect the deal to be sorted before the weekend and the full fee will be paid up front.

It's lump sum though. It might be easier to sign a player for 50 millions if it's spread over 24 months than an Pedro for 30 outright.

I'm always behind on the contract renewal business. This is the second time.. I'll pull the media card this time; damn dutch media.
Anyways, thanks for the information.

Good points, and indeed, let's hope Eddie gets some millions off.

If anything, Di Maria's transfer showed how much the team signing the player benefits from team and player related clauses in a contract. Real for example will never get part of the 60 million because they were relatated to such clauses in the contract.

The latest comments from the club indicate that in the future we are not going to let players leave for less than they are worth and we will not just pay silly money for players.

The more peformance related clauses we can get that lower the bulk payment fee the better

Red and White Kop saying Chelsea are close to hijacking the Pedro move, can't see any sources confirming.
