Payet Winter Signing

No would rather Mata played 10 and fed up with pace less players on the wing

Same argument could be used for Beckham.
What argument?
You mean like saying Smalling's our best defender because he's tall and good in the air or Fellaini's a useful player because again he's tall and good at chesting the ball. Hmmm?
Except nobody has actually said either of those things.

Great short term January signing. Can't think of anyone else that's avaiable right now who would improve us more. We desperately need someone else apart from Zlatan chipping in with goals.

What has Van Persie to do with that?

We were very short at that position. Van Persie was twice the player Payet ever will be.

Van Persie played a key role for us in being champions. SAF's retirement was the only reason we had only one wonder season of RvP. Payet would have literally changed nothing at the moment.

Have people learned nothing? Not every player is suitable for us. Van Persie was a perfect sensible choice. There is absolutely no point is signing Payet.

I remember people were saying the same exact things about him. No re-sale value, too old, not needed as we had Rooney, Hernandez and Welbeck.

Not for me, one of those players that look great in a lesser team shirt.

Id do a swap for Rooney but that's about it. He's good enough but he'd cost too much for his age

But surely the main point is that RVP was a totally different class and was performing at a big club for more than one season.

Absolutely! All I wanted to point out is that people were saying the same exact things about RVP before we signed him.

1. West Ham aint gonna let him go in the middle of a relegation battle. 2. Absolutely pointless signing when we have Mata.

United badly need a deadball specialist. The corner taker seems to be whoever is closest when the ball goes out. I don't think he would transform the team offensively but I do think he would hold his own in the 3 behind Ibra.

He's not exactly what the team needs but his set piece delivery would be a huge boost. It's an undervalued part of the game.

Those people were obviously wrong. :)

His set pieces are the best in the world, every cross or shot is dangerous. That would bring a completely new dimension to our game, but with that being said I'm not sure there's a place for him, we have a lot of wingers / 10s.
Every player that came to United who were known for their set pieces lost that ability somewhere between the airport and Carrington.

I do not want him.

Terrible signing for us. He falls over at the slightest touch, he gets free kick for darlings of West Ham but trust me he will get nothing in a United shirt. So we will not be able to use his great free kicks or delivery.

If you sign him it will show Mourinho's lost the plot. Not because he isn't a great player, he's a great player. But because you can't play with 11 strikers and you can't play with 11 no10s unless you're Wenger or Guardiola. Mourinho doesn't trust no10s, especially no10s who don't press and track back enough. He already has Mata, Mkhitaryan and Rooney not to mention Pogba who doesn't press enough. No way is he going to play Payet plus more than 2 of them, maybe only 1 of them, which makes it an utterly pointless signing if you consider how good Mkhitaryan is. What's happening to the number 10s you already have?

He rarely even has the audacity to play Mkhitaryan, Pogba and Mata together, so he's benching at least 1 of them, maybe 2 if he signs Payet.

You need a CB, a DM, a DLP and/or a B2B.

Assist machine. Could give us added inciseveness for a couple of years at least and gets his fair share of goals. Id see us pay 30 mil for him.

He would be a brilliant signing in the January-window. Don't care about the price or his age (he's just 29 ffs). His dribbling, set-pieces, shooting and playmaking abilities would make us a lot more capable of breaking down teams. Depay is surely on his way out and if he is to be replaced by Payet then why the hell would anyone complain...

How about we try and get more out of Martial, Micky, Mata, Linguard, Rashford, Depay etc.
If we were to buy someone I would rather it be right side so Micky can play no.10, left side should be Martials longterm.

He wouldn't be top of my list but then again neither was another enigmatic, under performing Frenchman in 1992....

He'd be a very good signing for us, would add a whole different dimension to our play with his set pieces.

Last thing we need is another slow attacker. Mata is better imo hope this is just a rumour.

He'd be great in a 4231, just like Mata, but when we change to a 433, which is what I'm hoping we'll stick to, then he's not really as effective in that left wing spot.

He really is a very good player, but with Rooney and Ibra and carrick all already in the team the last thing we need is another player who will only be useful for 1 or 2 years

Le10sport is a shite paper that invents 100% of its content.

Not sure he is worth pursuing or would add anything to the squad that isn't already there, he would cost a lot probably for someone his age. Should be aiming higher than Payet.

If we could buy him and sub him on for corners, then promptly sub him off I'd be all for it.

I think you can see today why Jose might fancy bringing him in to compete on the left with Martial. Payet is at a good age to take some of the pressure off Martial without stunting him, and also allow Jose to try him at #9 like many here want. Our other wide options all prefer the RW and I think the Rashford on the LW expirement might be due to come to an end.

With the rumours of Depay going out on loan in Jan, and Young completely out of the picture then Payet would be a very useful signing.

Payet Zlatan Mkhitaryan
Pogba Herrera
Carrick

Wouldnt mind that from January onwards. He plays in the same position for France and is absolutely phenomenal there for them.

Takes the pressure off Martial aswell.

If we do want him, this window is a good as any to get him. Personally I don't, as good as he is at set pieces, I feel he will bring more issues than he would add to the team.
