Payet Winter Signing

Buying older players for lots of money doesn't take pressure off young players. It just means that they get less opportunities to perform. And when they do get a chance, they are therefore put under more pressure to perform.

Payet isn't good enough to merit the money. Mata is better. Mkhitaryan is better. And Martial will be better in the next year or so.

I don't think we'd do a deal for Payet that would cost signifigant money, probably £20M or so. We have no quality depth on the left at all. On the RW we have Mkhi/Mata/Lingard, after Martial on the left we have Rashford and Young.

Mkhitaryan and Lingard are capable of playing on the left, surely. It's not a position in which I think we need to spending money.

United badly need a deadball specialist. The corner taker seems to be whoever is closest when the ball goes out. I don't think he would transform the team offensively but I do think he would hold his own in the 3 behind Ibra.

He's not exactly what the team needs but his set piece delivery would be a huge boost. It's an undervalued part of the game.

He would absolutely one hundred percent never score a fk or get an assist from a set piece again if he moved to us. We make everyone rubbish at set pieces.

Mkhitaryan can play either side as he's two footed, I've read posters on here say Lingard played left at youth level but none of our managers seem to like what they see from him there. As far as positions we need to spend money on, I think a squad is always in flux and managers look to upgrade their options, to me Payet is far superior on the left than any option we have bar Martial, no harm in having real quality depth IMO, it won't stop us buying other players for the more crucial positions.

West Ham won't sell for £20M. His contract runs to 2021 and the West Ham owners have said many times he isn't for sale. Last season they were going on about how he's worth £100M. The fee they'd be demanding would probably be in excess of Mata's fee which is ridiculous.

I'm sure it won't, but a line has to be drawn, and priorities need to be established. Another attacking player is definitely going to be required over the next year, but I don't think Payet is what we need at all.

Really does depend on how much you buy him for. £15m is a snip for a good squad option like him who would probably be a starter for this season and get us top 4. If we can't buy him for cheap, forget about it.

If that's the case it wont happen then, like I say this will only be on the cards if it's a good value transfer IMO, I was just satying I could see the logic in it at the right price.

Thje thing is the priority is a Carrick replacement and that isn't going to happen in January. I just think if Jose feels he's an upgrade that gives him better options and the deal isn't for stupid money, it has merit, he wouldn't be my first choice either.

I suppose that's fair. I wasn't all convinced we needed a Carrick replacement, per se, but it's increasingly clear that we're going to need to bring in yet another central midfielder - potentially even two. Mourinho has no time for Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin and Fellaini isn't good enough. That leaves us Herrera, Pogba and a 35 year old Carrick, which is frustrating.

Well getting a like for like for Carrick will be hard, but we definitely need another top CM added, as you point out Jose has no interest in Schneiderlin and Schweini and Fellaini is not nearly good enough should Ander or Pogba get an injury. Hoepfully we'll see TFM and Pereira get chances to get in the mix but one more quality CM that can hold is needed.

He wouldn't other than for freekicks, which would involve somehow dislodging Zlatan from behind the ball, which I doubt he could do.

I think you're right, and he is very tiny. (You could add Pogba to that equation as well, also a lot bigger)

I wouldn't mind seeing more Pogba after yesterday's beauty

He really wants to leave west ham according to papers. I think for a year or two he could be a good signing. For something like 20 million i wont be against it.

No no and just no again the last thing we need is another slow attacker. Mata fills Payets role nicely already and is a better player imo.

I would welcome him here. Great player and can do it on the big stage too as he did for France in the Euros.

I like him, and if we didn't already have Mkhitaryan I'd say definitely go for him. But we do, so I don't think he's the right type of player.

I know they could easily play on opposite sides, but it does feel like the balance wouldn't be right in that case.

Highest chance creator till last week in top 5 leagues in world ? I think its stupid not to consider it

No thanks.

30M for a 30 years old who will play for 2-3 years. No thank you.

He'll go for Pool and shine 6 months before heading back to Marseille.

We already have Mata as a winger/playmaker with no pace and we're not playing him.

If he comes, it'll doom for sure Martial as a left winger, and Mata too.

Don't need to strenghen here.

Why would West Ham sell him anyway, he's a really important player for them.
If they're relegated, he can go for peanut in the summer. He can't save them himself, while they're struggling to improve their team, thus the relegation risk still hanging around their head. They have big stake gamble in their hands

Exactly, he's good but it would only be worth buying him if the price is right, due to his age. I certainly wouldn't loan or sell Martial or Rashford to get him. You will maybe get one decent season from him.

Don't need or want, he's going to be 30 next year. Ideally, i'd rather see Rashford loaned out next season so that he's playing week in, week out as a starter then rotate Martial and Ibra in the centre forward spot then get in Greizmann (if the rumours are to be believed) then have a front three of Miki - ibra - Greizmann.

Yes but if we sign him now maybe we can ensure their relegation.
