Paulo Dybala

Really not a fan of this. Dybala has had an average/poor season and is only on the edges of the first team at Juve yet he's wanting to be one of the top earners with no wage drop if we don't make CL?

Have a very bad feeling about this.
So you'd rather look forward to Lingard and Lukaku stinking up our team next season instead of him lighting it up?

These quotes on Dybala are all over the place. It seems to me like journalists are covering all their bases so that they come out of this looking like they’re well informed and connected no matter how this deal plays out.
This is EXACTLY the issue.

Even the ‘Tier 1’ [whatever that is] journalists get it wrong from time to time.

People invest so much faith when they like what these journos are saying & then go the other way when they don’t.

They’re all reporting we’re in talks with Dybala so this is something we can probably all take as ‘fact’ but to believe that these journos know the in’s & out’s of all these transfers is ludicrous.

Sure some will have connections in clubs that give them some details but I doubt a journo is invited to the negotiation table so they can tweet exact details of a deal.

Anyone else have a feeling this will fall through and we will be stuck with Lukaku and shit attacking football for another season?

He really, really doesn’t want to come here does he

In any other circumstance I’d say stay well clear, but we’d be shifting Lukaku at the same time. Still don’t like the idea of offering him Pogba/De Gea/Sanchez money simply to get him to entertain us as an option, but if the alternative is watching the ball bounce off Lukaku for another year...

We can still get Fernandes if Dybala refuse to come.

If this turns into another Di Maria situation I honestly give up being excited for any highly rated attacking player we sign. It’s got to be something seriously rotten in the club.

Apart from Sanchez, Dybala, De Gea and Pogba deserves huge pay check.
I would rather question the salary of Rashford and the others.

If it works out well for us, then his salary won’t matter.

No. I'd rather get straight cash for Lukaku and spend the money elsewhere.

Dybala is a luxury player. We aren't in a position or league where you can accommodate such players.

This is literally someone’s career and livelihood. It makes entire sense things get spoken and clarified face to face, in person.
They are in the same city, they work for the same club, they are working on a massive transfer and it's literally someone's career and livelihood. Yet they would make him wait until Monday when training starts to meet face to face? The whole scenario is absurd.

Not feeling positive about this one anymore. Don’t think he will leave Italy.
Well, if he's no intention of leaving Italy, then he'd have to find a new Italian club i'd imagine.
Juve have made it clear that he's not wanted there anymore, and with the reports that he's now realised that the problem isn't with the manager, it's with the club, that'll further burn the bridges. His only realistic place would be Inter, but from reports, he's already rejected them. It'd be a season in the reserves or on the bench i'd imagine

This is exactly how I imagine Ed's average day in the office:lol:
Apparently he's very good at this sort of corporate stuff, but it's absolutely ridiculous to have a clueless accountant like him in charge of transfer decisions. I wasn't surprised that Juve sent their own DoF to England to get the Dybala deal done, they were probably afraid Ed would start blabbering about Disneyland in front of Dybala's agent.
What was David Gills profession before MUFC? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the disneyland comment in reference to playing at OT and winning trophies?

Sanchez doesn’t deserve even half the money he’s on.

If it works out well for us, then his salary won’t matter.

That’s the problem, I’m worried it won’t. If he comes here and plays out of his skin, then yeah who cares what he’s on.

All just sounds a bit negative. I hope it happens, but if it doesn’t I won’t be surprised and I don’t really blame the bloke, it’s all a bit of a mess.

Any chance this whole Dybala swap deal is a Raiola & Juve ploy?

The swap tanks just before the bell. Dybala stays & Sarri smoothes things out with him.

Lukaku is stuck at United & is thought a lesson for ditching the Fatman's agency.

Juve troll Inter/Conte hard as they don't get the striker they're after in time for the deadline. Probably lose Icardi too (maybe to Juve!).

Meanwhile, United are shown what happens when they mess with Fatman & would be more open to letting his number 1 client leave for Madrid the next time they call.

Surely I'm overthinking this. This unbelievable swap deal is going to happen right? :wenger:

Lots of speculations and what he wants or rather he does not. I must admit I don't like player thinking they are too good or must be convinced to join Manchester United. I say we make him a good and reasonable offer, you either take it or feck off wherever you want Paulo, this is Manchester United, not some wanna be top dogs like Spurs, Arsenal or Chelsea.

We were playing a 3-5-2 with Di Maria in CM with an aging RVP, Falcao and Rooney ahead of him. Zero pace. The back 5 was regularly Evans, Blackett  Borthwick-Jackson
That season was a great craic. Had di Maria playing as a CF in a 3-5-2 at times, James Wilson starting against Liverpool, Phil Jones on corners, Januzaj CM vs Sunderland, Young and Fellaini probably our two best outfield players, and as you mentioned Tyler "even looks shit for Reading" Blackett... and we still somehow got 4th.

Van Gaal really was a mad cnut.

I’m pretty calm in that if Dybala doesn’t want to come, we’ll very likely buy Bruno who will be on standby. Not sure what Bruno himself will make of it though if and when he knows he’s second choice in this saga

Supposedly, Ed's "Disneyland" pitch is what made Klopp turn us down. So here we're now, with Ole at the wheel in 2019.

Don't know why some are being negative. He will move once we have reached an agreement.

It really was bonkers really. It shows how far the premier league fell IMO.

The fact it took Klopp / Guardiola to come in and wipe everybody away, now we've seen the level step up again and it's showing in European competitions also.

No wonder Leicester managed to win the league really, the top clubs were all sleeping.

Getting a player like Dybala in a straight swap with Lukaku (who is completely unwanted) seems an amazing deal. My only concern is having watched United in pre season they have obviously put a lot of work into a very specific system with a number 10 more focussed on leading the press and recovering possession than being creative. Unless he plays from the right, I struggle to see how Dybala fits that system.

Nothing about the Bruno Fernandes links have been very convincing but after watching the team play and how Andreas Pereira is playing the number 10 role, I am convinced that United do want Bruno. He just fits that profile of a number 10 for that system and style of play.

The Dybala deal just seems to have fallen in United's lap which completely goes against the targetting of specific players with specific qualities for the good of the team that Ole has been driving.

Dybala could add a real spark to the United attack in the way Sanchez was supposed to and I really hope the deal goes through. But it might mean a bit of a rethink for Ole.

Has he said thinks he is too good for us? He's clearly set foundation's in Italy and loves the club/fans, and so is understandably reluctant to let that go if there is any opportunity for him to remain. As with most Argentinian players, the culture, climate etc is much more desirable in Spain and southern Europe than it is England. That's all.

This will happen because the chap simply has no choice. Unless he doesn’t care about being on the bench for the whole season. Juve are clearly desperate to get him out, he knows that too. Dybala is too expensive to sit on the bench for them. We have the advantage of having a player they really want and who wants to join them. This will happen. Like others have said, they’re just working on image rights, the deal will be confirmed then. Whether he is super eager to join us, is of course another matter.

He die not supercede SAF the manager on transfers.

Yes I agree with most you said, and as I said most of it is speculations from journos knowing something but probably not the whole story. And yeah I can understand the south american sentiment, we also must take into consideration in negotiating what he asks for. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Drogba never wanted to leave Marseille and was pushed out because the club needed the money, he then became a revelation at Chelsea bonded with the fans and now has a powerful affiliation for the club. The same could easily happen with Dybala here.

I hope we have a good plan B in mind in case he rejects us.

If we get straight cash there is no way we are spending the money elsewhere unless you mean Bruno. We don't have time to go getting a plan B now, so if Lukaku goes we will presumably just go with Bruno and maybe get Mandzukic. Which arguably leaves us no better off than last year.

Has it been mentioned that Dybala is apparently being sued by a company that holds his image rights? I guess that's what could hold up the deal.

I don't know why he is hesitating. The little boy in him has always wanted this.

He has name-checked him before saying such an opportunity would be a no-brainer though.

So we should take a massive gamble on Dybala just coz?
