Paulo Dybala

According to Palermo's owner/director/zamparini, they have been talking to club and have reached an agreement for around 40 million, both Dybala and Zamparini insisy that they wont tell which club.

Comes in same week as some journalist say we have wrapped up 3 deals

The other clubs mentioned with a move for him were Arsenal, Chelsea and Juve. If it is true about a deal, then it could just be us or Arsenal.

How has he played today?

Hopefully it's not just a coincidence. Same goes for the Depay rumours. Those would be two great signings, wonder who the third one supposedly is... Hummels perhaps?

Is he considered a special talent? I just saw clips of him and he looks hugely talented. Seems to be technically really gifted. Correct?

That's his release clause and it's the only way he'll leave.

I imagine its 40m including a lot of add-ons? Probably closer to 25 or 30m euro, so not too bad in sterling. Still a gamble on a pretty unproven player.

Just finished watching him vs Juventus. I thought he did really well versus Chiellini, Bonucci and Barzagli. He had to feed off scraps almost all match, but he runs the channels really well and holds the ball up well for a small lad. Excellent first touch, some nice dribbles. He didn't get many shots on Buffon, but he was playing by himself most of the time against a quality defence. For a 21 year old, his all round game is brilliant. Not sure if he's a 30 goal a season striker, but it is hard to tell when he's playing for a pretty bad side I think.

I've seen him play versus Roma, Juve and Milan this season and he's more than held his own against them. Pretty decent test I think. Hope we sign him or Vietto, they seem to be the pick of the young strikers around these days.

The big problem for me is, nobody has really heard of him until this season.
He's had 3 consistent seasons at Palermo and now at 21 is getting talked about as the next super star.

Don't get me wrong, but that is a lot of money (If 40m in £ is true), for somebody who has had half a good season so far

Maurizio Zamparini claims there is “already a €40m offer in my hand” for Palermo's Paulo Dybala, but is it Juventus or Manchester United?

The Argentine sensation is only 21 years old, but scored 12 Serie A goals in 25 games this season, along with eight assists.

“Has Dybala already been picked up by Juve? Absolutely not,” President Zamparini told Radio Due.

“I already have a €40m offer in my hand, but if someone else gets into the race then we’ll see what happens.

“Were Manchester United behind this offer? I won’t tell you the name of the club, not even if you torture me!”

As well as Juve and Manchester United, Roma are thought to be interested in striker Dybala.

“Anything can happen in football. The Giallorossi have good financial capabilities and it’s possible Walter Sabatini could take him away. We’ll see.”

Zamparini confirmed he’ll be in the stands at the Stadio Barbera for today’s game with Juventus, which kicks off at 17.00 GMT, but the notoriously superstitious patron won’t be watching.

“I am accompanying some Russian associates who are big football fans. After that I might stay on my own in a little room or go to pray to Santa Rosalia...”

That's what he said. Not really giving much away.

Yeah, it's a risk. He's basically the foreign Harry Kane.

it is 28m pounds, still a lot of money.

Zamparini is one of the biggest BSers in football so I'd take those quotes with a handful of salt.

Would be surprised if they get €40m for him. Zamparini talking out of his arse wouldn't be a shock.

40M€ is around £28M, seems like a fair price, I don't know what people are complaining about. I hope it's us.

We'd have to let Rvp go to enable a striker signing. As much as I love watching him play and rate him at his peak, I hope LVG has the bollocks to do it. I'm doubting it given he plays him every game and is super pally with him.

Yeah if that's in euros then it's not a bad price. Particularly if some of it is in add-ons.

Zamparini is mental and there's every chance he's talking crap. I don't think any Italian club can pay 40 million euros for him, if true.

I can't see Juventus or Roma paying €40 million for any player sums like that are way to big for any Italian club nowdays.

I think Milan and Juve could, they both have fairly large turnovers.

He is trying to drive the price up.

I really doubt Juve have €40m to throw around.
Yeah but we do! Wouldn't be surprised at all if we got him really. We've been linked with him all season, and have apparently agreed deals for 3 players. If I had to guess, I'd say that's Depay, Dybala and then one more. Would be great signings though for sure, young, but some of the best talents around. The players you know will be top players, like when we signed Rooney and De Gea, or Chelsea going for Hazard, or Bayern with Gotze and Dortmund with Reus. Just players who were in the top tier of youngsters, being at a very good level already so it's not like they're just a flash in the pan.

Regarding Mike Keegan's three, I guess it could well be Dybala, Clyne and Depay for next season. Some good young talent there.

Thought he did well tonight against Juve's beastly back 3, they fouled him quite a lot and he took some hits but he kept wanting the ball and trying to make things happen without much support. His skill, pace, movement and workrate would be a fantastic addition to our front line.

Memphis--Rooney--Dybala

Looks pretty damn exciting to me.

That certainly would be a good start to the summer!

Think it'll be;
Dybala
Memphis - Rooney - Di Maria

With Blind/Carrick + a defensive #8.

That looks equally enticing to ne, but the #8 better have some playmaking quality in his game as I don't think we can leave that to Blind.

With Van Gaal I think it's more likely we'd see Devil may care's lineup. 4-3-3 has always been his favourite formation. Doesn't Dybala for the most part play on the left of a 3 anyways? If he did come I'm sure we'd see all sorts of formations but Dybala and Depay cutting in from the wings with Rooney in the middle would be brilliant IMO.

Di Maria in the midfield 3 behind them alongside Blind and one more, though no idea who this one would be. I love Herrera but that would be too open with him next to Blind and Di Maria. Central midfield is pretty much the one position where I have no clue who we're going for, since Strootman is crocked.

The 433/4231 is synonymous for van Gaal - it was almost all he played at Bayern. The #10 is the third CM for van Gaal, with the #6 and then the #8. He won't play Di Maria in central midfield long term again, in my opinion.

Yeah, true. And who knows with Di Maria. Maybe he'll play him as a #10 as you say, the third midfielder but also the main creative source and not given a possession role unlike the 2 next to him. I think he doesn't want to play him in midfield right now with our defence as weak as it is and our midfield being pretty lightweight as it is, but if we strengthen it then I think he'd be okay with it. He played Di Maria in midfield plenty of times really, so he's not against it, it's just that with our current troubles, his slack passing is more of a problem then it would normally be.

When the team starts playing fluidly those 2 formations kind of fold into each other at times. The one aspect I think @DWelbz19 could be right about is that LvG likes Rooney's workrate and may prefer him in the flexible #10/AM role.
