Paulo Dybala

He is the modern type of forward we need. Comfortable dribbler, works his socks off and works the channels really well. He can also pass and has great vision as showed yesterday. Being fairly small doesn't bother me anymore either, as great forwards like Aguero/Suarez have shown movement is more important.

I would much rather blow 50M on Dybala and Depay than pay 40 for Falcao, it just makes much more sense.

Would love him here. Perfect type of forward for us. Makes too much sense for us not to get him :(

Yeah Vietto is awesome. And will be relatively cheap. Provided he doesn't prioritize a move to Atletico because of the Simeone connection, a bid in the region of £20 million from Woodward and it's done dealio. Infact we could completely overhaul our rather rigidly structured attack with superb, progressive talent that could transition all over the place in an extremely fluid front 3 for ~£70 million. Potential Vietto + Depay + Wilson + Dybala + Januzaj shuffle for the next 7-8 seasons.

This would indeed be drool worthy, but even if we only got one of Dybala and Vietto, added Memphis and utilized, Di Maria, Januzaj, Nani and Wilson as the 6 options for the front 3 we'd be pretty damn exciting and all would thrive with the freedom IMO.

We will standby whilst Arsenal secure him for 15 million, then give RVP an extension whilst securing Falcao on a five year 300k a week deal.

I don't know how keen i am on him when we have Wilson coming through, there is 2 years between them and it would make it difficult for Wilson to get his chance... I really rate the lad.

What's his best position? Is he a straight up CF or could he fit wide in a 4-3-3?

Dybala might not be a prototypical #9 for the Premier League because from what I've seen there are some minor deficiencies with his holdup ability in the face of punishing opposition defenses. More of a goal-coring wide-ish forward who can drift inside (bit like a watered down David Villa at Barcelona but one who doesn't make much of a fuss about it) or false 9/ no 10 hybrid that can transition between the hashes instead of being the focal point of attack.

Fully understand where you're coming from & I agree, youth is part of our identity and there's probably very little more satisfying then seeing us produce and develop "one of our own".

But to remain competitive we cannot and shouldn't be scared of signing potential great players for fear of one of our own not getting their chances. If Wilson is good enough, he'll make it. If not here, somewhere else. It's how football works.

IMO, giving too many players a chance to fulfill their promise and signing cheapies in the hope of unearthing a gem has played a massive part in the deterioration of our squad quality. So if the chance comes, we should never shy away from signing a talented youngster, unless it's for financial reasons.

If we get rid of RvP and not sign Falcao, we'd only have Rooney, Dybala and Wilson. He'd get game time.

So is this guy the real deal?
He's not been a name thats been banded around. This season seems to be a breakout season for him, so at 21, is he a very good player, or could this just be a one off season?

Your probably right to some extend, but i don't think we have been giving too many youngsters a chance. When players like Januzaj and Wilson come through you simply can't ignore them. If RvP was sold i would be for this transfer, but i'm not sure he will.

Btw, Zamparini has said Dybala will leave in the summer and that he is talking to teams from France and England, that must be PSG since they look for a striker, Cavani hasn't really been what they were looking for i guess.

Someone said he's the next Aguero...? If he's anything like him we should be all over him.

He plays for the same team that sold Pastore to PSG for €40million. We would probably get absolutely rinsed.

However, if he's just 10% as good as Aguero, then we should snap him up.

Well he is a small, strong Argentinian that is quick, likes to dribble and can finish well.

The similarities are definitely there, but Aguero is the finished article. Dybala is definitely a player who could add some much needed pace and directness to our attack though.

In my opinion that's exactly what we need ie someone with great talent and pace who wouldn't mind the bench once in a while. We have too many prima donnas upfront and that's not helping.

Yep. I respect RVP for what he did in his first season for us, but that electric form he had has gone now and for his wages he isn't worth retaining.

Fergie was the master of moving people on at the right time, and hopefully LVG does this too. Falcao and RVP need to go to teams build around them, and we need strikers who would work and stretch teams. That will take the weight off our midfield and defense better.

In my opinion its more about egos. We've got at least 2 strikers (in my opinion 3 as I believe that Rooney had reached a point in his career where he believes and with good reason that he should be leading the line) who had been for the past decade the main striker of their team. They got the goal scoring record to sustain their ego and they are literally programmed to score goals. SAF used to say that RVN cared nothing else apart from scoring goals. Can you imagine having 2-3 RVN's upfront? The team will end up unbalanced.

We need to embrace our limits and establish some sort of hierarchy in the team. We simply cant afford playing with a 2-3 forwards upfront for most of the matches (certainly not with strikers like RVP and Falcao) and we simply cant afford having players like Rooney, RVP and Falcao on the bench.
Hence we need someone who would give us a different approach to our game while not being too upset if he ends up on the bench once in a while.

Dybala, Depay and Lacazette could really revamp our while team. Those three add pace, skill and finesse to our team, something we've lacked for a few years now.

Yep, 3 young talents who would cost circa £80m and get us firing again for years, the cost of missing the CL for 1 year. It would certainly be exciting to watch us again.

Probably takes too many risks for LVG's liking. We need a forward that'll retain possession, pass the ball back in the final third as much as possible and and be a good partner for Fellaini in times of desperation. And he's not Dutch so no guarantee of a starting place.

Alternatively...

Depay - Dybala - Vietto

That won't ever happen btw. As Wilson wouldn't get a look in, Rooney would have be pushed back into a midfield 3 (or dropped).

I could certainly see us lining up with:

Depay - Rooney - Dybala

I doubt we'd ever line up with them, Rooney has to play if fit. I don't like this undroppable status personally. This is United, not Everton, and Rooney is not Aguero, Messi or Suarez. I think until we get to a place where he isn't a fixture by default, the team will be held back a bit.
