His worst game since his return. Looked a bit like the jaded Scholes towards the end of last season.

Any coincidence that this was the first real team that pressured properly as a team, thought Livermore in that regard was outstanding

This was where he struggled in the last season or two before his retirement, although it's impossible to for certain know whether a team intends to press as vigorously as Spurs did today

Bump

Great to have him back, still a valuable player for us and I hope he stays on after this season. Would be good for Pogba and Cleverly to learn from him.

Can still do what very few - at United as well - can. Not sure too many people talked about it, but look at Sunday's first goal, how he placed a 30-40 yard pass to Hernandez without even stopping to think. It makes a huge difference.

It's commonplace when Scholes does it, anyone else and it merits a compliment from the commentator. It's certainly an amazing asset, to be able to switch play with a single pass, and get the ball to a winger for a cross into the box almost at will.

And the funny thing was it was his left foot. It was just done so simply. Not even sliced or anything, just like it was normal for a footballer to spray the ball out like that.

Another year please. Given that hes accepted he wont play every game its great. Though its funny cos hes playing / starting more big games this year than he did last year.

Despite him not being at his best since his return in the last match, I'm hoping he gains more and more confidence with regards to his range passing. It's all that's missing for me... And even still he's just wonderful to have for our possession and fluidity of play.

Even at the end of last season he was getting plaudits from Guardiola, who didn't have to stop and think to decide that out of all our players, he'd want Scholes:

I'm so chuffed beyond belief about him coming back... It felt like losing Zizou did, and to get a reprieve an unexpected encore... I didn't expect the treat that is his career to go on <3

Give us another year Paul

If he doesn't then we need to round-up a mob and get out the pitchforks before heading to Carrington until he agrees to another season. The way he's played since coming back and the importance of his role it would be sacrilege to stop again.

Also he, Giggs and Rio should not go on the pre-season tour - there's nothing they'd gain at this stage from the experience and they could surely benefit from an extra few weeks off.

It makes me smile every time I see him on the pitch now. I took him for granted before to some extent. Like he'd always be here.

It is amazing how highly he is rated in Spain (and among professionals), compared to the general opinion of Premier League followers.

Carrick is classy, but Scholes is a once in a generation talent. I think in recent years more British people speak of him in glowing terms compared to 4-5 years ago.

its crazy that he retires, has six months out of the game and in his first month back wins Player of the Month

true legend

IMO- this a transfer of the season.

It's funny to think that he was actually a transfer, but he would have to be up there as one of the best this season. Him and Ba have both been brilliant transfers purely because of the fact that no money was paid to sign either of them.

He wasn't a Transfer, he was a Signing. A transfer indicates a change of papers between one club and another.

Signing of the season? He is for me.

Fair point. You know where I'm coming from. He's certainly up there though. It's between him and Ba for me. If Scholes can maintain his recent performance level, it'd probably be him though.

Yeah but this is the type of game he'd thrive in, against 10 men and Wolves are barely closing down, so he has so much time on the ball.

People are saying Rooney pulled the strings, but Scholesy was doing just as much pulling on said strings if you ask me. Always available, always playing the right ball, and always finding a man... top top class.

He just makes the game look so easy. No matter what the situation is, anywhere on the pitch, he always has time.

These kind of games are made for him. Another great performance, ran the show today.

Since his return we've won all our prem games hes started except one which we drew 3-3 with Chelsea (iirc)

Sylar probably meant all the Premier League games after his comeback.

My god man. He had 90% passing before today as well. Seriously, this kids ridiculous, hope he doesn't chase the money.

How can he still run so many miles in 90 minutes at his age and at this level. its beyond belief! Giggs got all the plaudits for his longevity .... but those tributes need to be equally distributed to the timeless Paul Scholes.

So so so so so glad he re considered his retirement. Hope he goes to the Euro's with England too.

Pogba made 41 out of 44. Opta stat app on iPhone.

really enjoyed Pogba's extended cameo today. Like Scholes, he takes positions that gives him extra time on the ball, and he makes intelligent and attack minded passes. Did not look out of place at all.

Sure he needs 50 appearances under his belt (as starter or sub) to fully feel like he belongs to the first team... but as a new player in the 1st team, so far he has been very good.
