Paul Pogba

I've not really seen much of Pogba since he left, a couple games but mostly just highlights so basically his goals.

What's his defensive game like these days? Is he more of an attacking midfielder or is he well rounded?

He probably means better than Pogba at his age. Never seen him play so cant comment on that, but sounds more plausible.

He said he is "already a better player" which certainly sounds like he is comparing them in the here and now.

Only seen him a few times since leaving but he seems to be a well rounded midfielder. Watch him vs Spain.

He is an incredible player, he is so unique for his size, I always believed he would become the best midfield player in the World, that was under SAF's tuition but he broke away from that, I can understand his impatience given his ability but you have also to question his mentality and motives moving away from Manchester United under SAF to juventus, still he is that talented he may still end up the best midfielder in the World but there is a dilemma now in signing a player for a massive fee we acquired and helped develop for next to nothing, see where his heart lies, where his next move is, it should be to one of the absolute European elite, there is talk of PSG, if that happens, I would not bat a lid, if its Bayern, Chelsea, Madrid or barca it will be a punch in the guts.

Erm no, you don't got to question anything. Most people in Pogba's position(including me) would have fecked off if defenders were getting played in your position and 36 year old's were making returns from retirement. He also apparantly earned less at Juventus than what United offered him so it clearly wasn't a financial motive. He proved Ferguson wrong simple as that really and fair play to him.

It's a difficult one, I can remember the game in question well hoping he would play, and how "all of a sudden" he was included in every match day squad afterwards when he said he was leaving, Fergie knew his talent but he had a disciplined structure that he would not compromise and you also have to respect that given his success and in that regard I would side with Fergie every time. If SAF bent over for some up and coming youth players's demands, granted it was the agent running the show, the whole structure of the club from the bottom up goes to shit, if the lure of playing for the biggest club in the World under the greatest manager of all time is not enough to be patient for, again I have to question where your head is at.

Which would you have, Pogba or Verratti? Probably the two best (young) midfielders in the world (discounting Isco, as he's a vastly different type of player). I'd go with Verratti at this point based purely on his performances against Barcelona earlier in the year (Chelsea to a lesser extent).

Pogba. but there both immense.

The same fella that first called Suárez for Barcelona claims negotiations between Ariedo Braida (Barcelona) and Juve/Pogba are quite advanced and would be star signing of elections candidate and current president Bartomeu. I imagine he would join in winter. Could be all made up, but he did get Suárez right before anybody else.

How are you going to pull that off with FFP?

Do you know how much money could Barcelona spend to stay within FFP margins?

Last summer was a big spending window and resulted in a total of 76m, which is not that high.

i'd hate to see him sign for Barca. His talent would be stifled.

Don't disagree, but Barcelona need to replace a few of the ageing players. Can't see them splashing such a large amount in a winter window.

This is all complete speculation since it's just rumour from a journalist that only got one thing right once, but there really is not much to change in the squad. Since there is the summer ban, all funds would go to winter.

Xavi is leaving, Pedro probably will be sold, Alves most probably will get a 2 year extension, who knows what will happen with Iniesta, hopefully Vermaelen will debut next season  The rest of the squad is quite young and would only need some midfield and a left back. The rest of positions are more or less covered, and would probably get a few players from the B team to fill in the bench (Denis, Samper, Adama, Sandro, Munir, Grimaldo, Halilovic, Deulofeu?).

The thing is, he's clearly for sale and there's a number of top clubs interested. PSG, Chelsea, United and City are all after him. Not to mention Real, that can buy him just because they're too bored. Unless Pogba is dead set on moving to Barcelona, it's difficult to imagine Juve waiting till January when they can unload him to the highest bidder in the summer.

They would sell him for the same price yet keep him for the first half of the season. The deal would be made in summer, the transfer in winter. All those mentioned teams have similiar economic muscle as of today, some less with ffp sanctions, I don't see that as a defining factor. All speculation, of course, just a rumour that popped up yesterday.

I assume if we were to get him and still play the 4-3-3, he will be taking Fellaini or Herreras places in the team?

One of my mates is a Juve fan who watches every game and he says he's well rounded. I was asking if he's lazy but he says that he's not just his running style, due to his long strides makes him look quite relaxed a lot of the time.

that's gotta be BS. that would value Pogba at, what, £100m? he's good but he ain't that good

He does his fare share of defending and often tracks back the opposition wingers to help out his left back.

Very disciplined player as well, rarely puts a bad tackle in and has good timing.

PSG Offer Cavani, Verratti and 20 Million for Paul Pogba.

Probably complete and utter rubbish, but for conversations sake I'd take that in a heart beat. Verratti is already a top CM with years to improve. Cavani is proven in Italy and money.
Apart from the fact that those swap plus money deals are not that common in football, I'm often puzzled as to why people never think about the wages of the players in question.

Seria A's biggest earner is De Rossi at £5.2m.

Cavani is making about twice as much at PSG.

I wouldn't want him signed, I'm not sure what his attitude is like, Louis van Gaal is a disciplinarian known to fall out with big name players, he will use Pogba in the box to box role but in his system the role is more defensive due to the required simple passing game so the ball is not lost, if he feels that limits his game then there could be trouble.

For the money it's too big of a risk.

Roy Keane would probably be perfect for the Louis van Gaal 8 role, is there a modern day Keane?

Pogba would play basically the role Fellaini currently plays for us I reckon - and would do a good job of it in the current system we are using.

I'd say Vidal and Nainggolan would be the closest.

Including Verratti in any deal would be robbing Peter to literally pay for Paul.

don't believe that swap deal story for a second (when was the last high profile swap deal? Ibra/Etoo?)

if there was any substance to PSG moving a midfielder like Veratti or Matuidi on I'd be very interested

Not really, because the 'enforcer' aspect of his game just couldn't exist today what with modern refereeing. I know it was just one part of what he did, but it was a pretty significant one in terms of defining him as a footballer.

Aside from that, though, probably Vidal. Incredible engine, absurdly all-round (shoots like a striker, tackles like a CB, passes like a playmaker, runs like a fullback), aggressive, proactive, both physically and technically gifted.
