People always forget that this is the reason Real overtook us almost fifteen years ago, they paid fees the world thought were unthinkable for the likes of Zidane and Figo (to a lesser extent) and in no time players were queuing to join the Galactico project. We don't have to go full on muppet like Perez does but its known that this math works and we do have the platform to exploit his name to the fullest whilst having the financial muscle to take the blow if he were to flop.
He's literally won every trophy he could possibly win there aside from the Champions League in the last 4 seasons. I'm sure he's dying to win his fifth straight scudetto.
You'd also give United better odds to win the Champions League in the next 4/5 seasons than Juve.

I don't think the club would ever participate in a ploy to get a player a bigger contract. We are a serious club ffs.
If we are after Pogba, it's because we think we can buy him.
I agree that Pogba signing a new contract with Juve is less likely than signing with United.
But there is a caveat here: if the new contract with Juve has an acceptable release clause that may be triggered next summer, then the new contract will just make sure that Pogba stays for another year on better wages. We cannot afford to give him such a contract. So, my prediction is that he would rather accept such a new contract with Juve than signing a 5 year contract with United without a reasonable release clause. For reasons spcecified above.
If the stories of Perez not being too keen on him are true, then I honestly think we'll sign him.
This is not about being a big club or a small club; it's about 'give and take,' it's about everybody winning, it's about the signalling theory.
I also don't think the agent would ask for our permission to say we are intrested to bump up the price he would just do it. It not like it inflicts on harm on United being associated with a world record bid. Only people it effects is us muppets daring to dream.
Raiola has some of Europe's most nomadic players in his stable if he has decided its time for Pogba to move he will move. This guy's MO is rooted in making sure that his biggest stars move around as much as possible to allow him to collect as much in agent fees as he, United makes the most sense for him now because in three years time he will be pushing for Pogba to move to Real.
Sure everybody wants too, but IMO we've got a better chance of winning it more recently than they do. Players now deem fame and money over a small chance of 1 extra trophy, and we can give him that miles over Juve.
Madrid are the only barrier, let's see how it plays out.

That's a fanciful suggestion and it assumes that Pogba would want to come to United when he has the chance to move to Madrid. This is all fugazi.

Real Madrid will come for him whether he is at United, Juventus or PSG because when they want someone nothing stops them. With Raoila in his ear and if Real drag their feet we will have a chance.
Why do people tend to believe that the wish of the agent weighs more or at least as much as the wish of the player? The agent serves the player, not vice versa. The players are not muppets in the hands of powerful agents, especially the star players.

We may or may not get a shot at getting him but I don't think it will drag on like saga's we've had in previous years. I think Mourinho is more hands on and aggressive than LVG and Moyes. I think we'll get an answer 1 way or another quicker.

The media chatter in Madrid right now is about Kante, not Pogba. Either Raiola and RM are going through an elaborate haggling through the media dance, or they really seem not that interested in Pogba. At least not at the price that Juventus wants. If Woodie meets Juventus' valuation, I think we have a massive shot at Pogba.

Judging by the reports we have more chance of signing Pogba then Kante. Only really that would maybe rival us for Pogba, but just about everyone wants Kante due to his small buyout clause, including Real.
