Pretty sure that all this talk of Zidane calling Pogba to profess his love for him is considered as 'tapping up'. If Marca continue with this tripe Madrid could end up getting a transfer ban, oh wait.......

And us having agreed a deal with Pogba before Juve is also tapping up as you ain't supposed to talk to the player before agreeing a fee.

Basically all clubs do it, nothing will ever be done.

Pogba needs to choose either us or Real. If he chooses us, I'm happy with that because he is a quality player.

If he chooses Real, no panic because we can try to sign either Kroos or James Rodriguez because Real will be forced to sell one of their star to cover the money they will spend on Pogba.

But if he decides to stay at Juventus, then he won't be able to join Real until 2018 and at the same time we will run out of option for this summer. Although Juventus is trying to win Champion League but their current player is still nowhere near Barcelona, Madrid, and Bayern level. And Allegri isn't a world class manager which can guarantee you a Champion League either. Pogba has won a lot of Serie A and double with Juve so if he wants to be the best he needs to play with world class manager and also tier 1 league like La Liga and EPL.

Slim chance of getting Kroos. And James doesn't really solve our issue. We will most likely get Matuidi.

Marca STILL claiming James would have to be sold and they say 120m HINDERS any possible arrival :lol::lol:

Madrid are so far out on the outskirts of this deal that Jose has begun calling Perez a Voyuer.:lol:

It also says that his face being left off Juve's twitter banner (which, as has been said, is for a friendly tour that the Euros players aren't there for) may be an important clue  These clowns are worse than the muppets :wenger:

I really wish we kept our transfers more discrete. At this point if Mourinho wants to pull out of this deal, he really can't do it without sending some fan forums into complete meltdown.

The club have said nothing, have they? The papers are the ones making all the claims.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was fake all along.

The selling club can give you permission to speak to the player even if a fee isn't agreed yet. I'm not sure how often this happens, but sometimes it's clear a deal will be reached and it's just the final details that are still being negotiated. In those cases the buying club will probably ask for permission to reach an agreement with the player to speed up the process. I think clubs still need to be careful about blatantly tapping up players.

Yeah we certainly said nothing about it until all the papers knew about it (probably leaked by Juve) and then Mourinho commented on it. It's definitely not fake because Mourinho has mentioned 'he is a Juventus player'.

Dragging on now.. typical saga..

"it will be done after the final"
"it will be done before the tour"
"it will be done for the kit launch"
"it will be done when he returns from holiday"

then it will be..
"will be done before next friendly"
"will be done before season starts"
"will be done on deadline day" etc..

Every season. Clearly, deal is not done.. as I read in every other post..

They said it was slim to get Di Maria but we did it. Di Maria was forced out after the arrival of James Rodriguez. So Madrid might be forced to sell Kroos. As for James, he's a no10. We do have an issue for our #10 and #8.

Marca is actually claiming that Real Madrid "fear" a Kross exit in case they sign Pogba. They state Zidane has made clear he wants Pogba but at the same time fears that Pogbas arrival would open the doors for Citeh to lure Kroos away:

Very very wague their whole journalism though. :wenger:

Having followed this thread for weeks without posting, my own view is that however fantastic a player is and however much he'd improve us, we should only pursue him if we're his number 1 choice. If there's any doubt about that, I'd rather the club didn't continue the chase.

It's starting guys. I hate to say it, but I am starting to feel this is going to end in tears.

It was almost inevitable that it would come to this, it's how RM do their business, we all know that.

I just hope, if the worst happens, that we have a contingency that we can swiftly fall back on.

The Spanish media are a mess. They are still going with 'we can have him if we want him' approach. And they say things like 'he hasn't decided who he wants to join' and 'he will be a United player soon' in the same articles. It's just bizarre.

Rooney is No 10 right? Jose has made it clear. So no chance we ll buy a high profile player in same position. Unless you believe Jose will start Rooney from bench every match.

That's a silly way to look at it. We would never be able to sign the World's best players then. I love United as much as anyone else does, but fact of the matter is we aren't the pinnacle of football, unlike some here seem to believe. Spain's big two can offer just as much money, has beautiful weather, in a league dominated by the world's best players who are more technical than physical. We are one of the biggest clubs in the world but we just can't match them in regards to that, which is why we have to overpay to lure players.

They're professional players, bar exceptions they will perform, regardless of where they're playing. Using that logic we should have let De Gea go too as he didn't want to be here.

They can't match our offer unless they sell a player. And that looks unlikely.

The last time we were linked to a French midfielder and everything went quiet,we ended up having a medical for him with no one noticing

I cant see this deal going through before the Higuain deal and that one is in full motion.

Can't remember when Jose said he will be guaranteed to start though. All I heard from interview is he said Rooney is #9,#9.5,#10. Although I believe he will, but doesn't mean he won't be dropped if he fails to perform.

What's even funnier is the fact Marca did a story a couple of days ago about how top European clubs, Madrid especially are getting pissed off with Pep/City for contacting other clubs players to convince them to join them (Gabriel Jesus and Nolito being the two mentioned).. On the the same day they ran the story that Zidane had contacted Pogba to ask him to be a patient lol.

Exactly, hypocrisy and sour grapes of the highest level. All this talk of "asking Pogba to be patient" is a load of rubbish really. What are they waiting for Christmas?

I don't know where this ridiculous notion comes from that they can't afford Pogba unless they sell either Moratta or James for a crazy fee. It really is made up bullshite by some on here on the caf. Why can United afford the deal without selling any player and could Real Madrid not ? They make as much money as us, don't fool yourself.

The common sense dictates that they can pay as much for Pogba as we can but they aren't going to because they don't need him as much as we do. Perez is not sold on Pogba, else he would have already been a Madrid player by now, Zidane would like him but he ain't a necessity because they have a very good midfield with Kroos, Modric, Casemiro. So € 120m or more is excessive for a player you don't need and Perez is not crazy about.

Our situation is different, we are desperate for a big signing and our midfield is shite so Pogba is like the best signing United can make and we are desperate, that is why we are going to pay the €120m or more that Real won't.

Spanish press keep trying to suggest that selling James will suddenly open up the funds for Pogba, but a) I don't believe Madrid are willing to match the fee or Raiola's cut regardless of how much they get for James, mostly on principle, and b) there is nobody in the world willing to pay what Madrid want for James with the possible exception of China, but their window is now shut, and c) James doesn't want to leave.

They are grasping at invisible straws to drag the story out. He's coming to us, they are just filling pages.

This thread has been a source of entertainment as much as an emotional roller-coaster for me. Seldom post here but my two cents about this saga is that nobody really knows shit aside Manchester United, Juventus and the Pogba camp. Thus, it is better to just enjoy it if you can with no sentiments attached.

starting to piss me off , coming here, going to Madrid, if he wants to come here just sign already, if he really wants to go to Madrid , let him go.
If he is swayed by a phone call from ZZ, do we really want a player that wants to play for Madrid ?
Also Raiola's €25m commission, FFS wish I was a football agent , seems like money for old rope.

How has he not decided? I think this deal has highlighted that MARCA and AS are as bad if not miles worse than the British press.

The difference being that Marca and AS are agenda-driven while the British press is clueless.
