Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Second half of that season after we were spanked by Spurs we depended heavily on moments of magic from Hazard to carry us through. Fabregas fell of, Costa fell off, Matic fell off. Hazard was consistently brilliant throughout and was the main reason we won the title.
Yeah but that's just not the same as carrying a team and your defensive record in the second part of the season was extremely important, arguably as important at Hazard was. As was your managers ability to manage resources.

But, I think you've made your point (in a way!) so carry on matey

Hazard was the best of a poor bunch that year tbf. Chelsea just shut down after Xmas and stumbled over the line.
Rival keeper howlers played a bigger part than any attacker during that period. I think Hazard's stats were barely better than my own post Xmas.
One of the poorer winners in history when compared to Bale etc.

and too buying from arguably top 5 clubs in the world right now...

In my opinion, world class players are; Aguero, Hazard, Sanchez, Lewa, Kroos, Neuer, Busquets, Messi, Neymar, Ronaldo, Bale, Suarez and there are probably 8-9 more that I haven’t mentioned that fall in that category, well the point im trying to make is no way you'd get 3 of those players with 140/50 million €. Maybe 2. But even at that, like you say they are at top, top clubs and they see those elite players as non transferable, unless an obscene amount is offered, i.e 140 mill for Pogba.

I still try to understand the concept of "world class".
It can range from being one of the top players in world football right down to having a good season.
I wouldn't pay too much notice to 'world class' it means little when it's so easy to be world class.

Amongst the top players in the World.
Good enough to be referred to as one of the best in the World (at what that person does).

It's not easy to be one of the best in the World.
By definition, its incredibly difficult.

Very true, on the other hand it's very easy to only quote half of what I said to make it out I was saying something entirely different.

Juve fan broke down the Italian media into tiers a few days ago. This was his comment on Carlo

GdS: Reliability depends on reporter. Carlo Laudisa is like 80/20 in reliability. Many Calcio followers rate him as #2 most reliable journalist in Italy after Di Marzio.

So even if he's had some misses recently, he's still up there with Di Marzio.

150mill euros for a player who's not even truely elite yet is just.. utterly inexplicable to me, but whatever, the subject has been done to death by now,
I really hope Jose knows what to do with him and can get him to step up another level because we're being taken to the cleaners on this.

People seem to think getting world class players from Juve, Bayern, Barca and Real Madrid is easy.

This isn't some mid table team that is going to sell so easily. Bids are going to have to be out of this world for the above clubs to sell world class players.

Juve have been selling their best players since I started watching football, so thats at least... the very early 90's, they've always seemed to employ a wheeler dealer type approach, I can't remember them.. NOT being prepared to sell their top players as long as the moneys good, they just reinvest in other talents and keep on trucking.
It's not like prizing Barca or Reals prized assets away anyway lets be fair.

Everyone seems to have a different definition. Mine is simple, if a player would get into the first team of the vast majority of major clubs, he's worldclass. I think Pogba fits that bill funnily enough.

I'd say they're more shrewd and ruthless with their 'assets' as apposed to wheeln'n'dealin' and to be fair they did get a record fee for Zidane and now they will for Pogba again. They're extortionists!

140mil Eurois and 25mil of that is the agent fees. I get your point though but even if Madrid come for him in 3 or 4 years, we will get atleast what we paid for him, well we SHOULD do but you never know with us lol.

:wenger:

Last time we sold our best players were after Calciopoli scandal. and Still we managed to not sold Buffon, Del Piero, Nedved, Camoranesi among others.

and same can be said of Bonucci and City.

Think of money United willing to pay for Pogba... even Madrid have been priced out.

All the italian ends picking up same news, my guess is we finally make a bid. If reports of ongoing talks are correct, then everything should be formality from this point on.

Did you not just sell Vidal last summer as an example, the first thing Juventus did when I first started watching was sell Baggio your national hero to Milan lol, then you had Vieri and sold him off, Inzaghi sold him off, brought in Ibrahimovic, then sold him off etc etc, Zidane? I really don't fancy going back over the last 20 years to pick out more honestly..
You've had like 4-5 untouchables, Del Piero, Nedved and Buffon among them but lets be real, most players at Juve have a price the directors will sell for.

What a statement this signing is if we do pull it off. Yes I think it is far too much money but for me Manchester United are entertainment, and I would rather we spend the money we earn as a club on the worlds best players rather than it going to the Glazer family! We are finally acting like the financial monster that we really are, none of this no value in the market rubbish.

It would pretty much cement our status as the place to be - Mourinho, Ibra, Pogba, United - the pendulum will swing back towards us.

since this is now a done deal, can I talk about music again?

I thought our offer of 120m Euros already included the 24m in agent fees. Did anyone other than Tancredi report that the total is up to 150m Euros?

Well tried to stay away as much as possible but will give my 5c about this whole thing. Seems only issue related with Pogba is his desire for RM (not sure how true, dont even give a feck) and the price it self. Is 100 + 25 + 25 a lot? Yea its insane amount of money,if all those stories are true and numbers are correct,i would find this as "breaking wheel" moment.

Do i care? Not really. If we dont spend money, what should we do with it? Some say we could buy 4 WC players,i highly doubt that, mostly because there arent many of those on the first place. Also doubt that Ed is going to spit 125 mil. pounds just like that without having a idea how to use Pogba to earn money, guy has 100% green brain.

Also dealing with that cnut MR might going in our favour today but at some point he might turn tables against us.

Can you really compare the difference between Kante and Pjanic with Kante and Pogba? That's a couple million £, not £80m. Not sure there are many who would have Pjanic over Kante anyways.

I don't want to derail the thread, though. I'm sure all of you will be delighted with Pogba and won't care about the fee, but that is an utterly mental price for a single player not named Messi, Ronaldo, or Neymar.
I never understand people who call Pogba overrated but cream over Kante. I mean at least Pogba has been consistent for four seasons. Kante has had one good season under his belt. That whole Leicester team was a freak thing last season. We have to wait to see if he can be consistent again and show he can play in a big team. If he is consistent for the next two seasons, then its money well spent for you guys.

If they want Higuain then they will have to blow more than half of what they get from us for Pogba. He aint going to come cheap and Napoli dont sell their star players that easy.

Signing Pogba, does many things, yes it improve the squad, yes it makes us look more enticing to other wouldbe targets, but one of the most important aspects especially this year, would be the absolute lift in mindset it would give to the coaching and playing staff. Th players especially would surly feel that we can go into any match with full confidence that we will win. There will be high confidence in winning the league. Just for that alone hes worth all the fuss in my eyes. Im really pumped and cant wait to have him back.

especially to a title rival. They would probably love if arsenal signed him even if it meant losing 20 million euro

True but they wont match Juventus with or without Higuain. Juve will win the title again even after letting go of Pogba.

Everytime we may lose we're going to hear about how the entirety of the oppositions side cost less than just Pogba at this rate. So I hope he hits the ground running or thats going to get old fast.
Think he will mind.

Who cares if the fee would buy you 23 Klavans, stop moaning everyone about the fee. I couldn't care if he was twice that rumoured fee. The owners have been milking us for years, attaching our club to everything for a cheap dollar. It's not your money and it will prove to be a good investment over time.

I'm all up for Pogba coming. I'm confident if we get Pogba we will win the league. Too much quality all over the pitch with an experienced manager, I think our squad would be good as anybodies. Hopefully this saga is coming to an end, one way our another. I haven't been as exciting for a season since RVP came.

Pogba will be an excellent signing. However, i don't think signing him will guarantee the league title. Now the league is too competitive to have a favorite. Signing Pogba will surely increase our chances to win it, but we also need to sign an experienced CB to feel confident about winning it.

Maybe not but the boost it ll give the whole squad is beyond anything. Signing Mou first, then Zlatan and Mkhi and now Pogba. Absolutely brilliant players coming here even though we dont have Champions League still proves we are a force to reckon with. And you never know players playing with renewed confidence and freedom and just with some luck we could there at the top come end of the season.

Lets see..... an attacking four of

Zlatan

Martial Pogba Miki

No team would have a better attacking four. I wouldnt bet against Mourinho with those four. Add De gea in goal, Luke Shaw, Baily and Smalling. I cant see a better team

The cocky Juve forums everywhere (not on that god damn juve forum), seems to be off from their high horses & have resigned to the fact that he would leave.
They are now wishing desperately that Madrid would make an offer & Pogba would join Real instead. Don't know why they would want to strengthen a direct CL rival.

Also, underrating of Pogba has begun by them. Now, they have started to call him inconsistent.
