All the link to us is so that the press can say United miss out on Pogba and Ed is not competent to get the job done. Same goes for Bale. These players are not willing to move and if Pogba does move, not to United for obvious reason(s). Then we have the fans that will cry all summer and all through next season asking for Ed to resign and requesting a director of football all because we couldn't sign Bale and Pogba.

How do you figure that? We used to be but not right now

Depends what stick you use to measure it. We play in the Premier League and have a world wide fan base far larger and wider than theirs.

We've also got one of the top 3 managers in the world and resources to blow most teams out the water.

If you asked most people who has the best chance of Champios League glory in the next 5 years, I'd bet they would back United.

I won't mind him coming back. United definitely needs a guy who can score long distance goals.

I just thought the term 'these days' was unusual. We've been crap for 3 seasons and if there's a time for juve to be more enticing than us it's now. Perhaps mourinho swings it back in our favour a little

I keep remembering that vine of Pogba playing FM with Chelsea whenever it's muppet time. Maybe he has a liking for Jose ? ;)

Load of know it alls on twitter claiming he is off to Real now
Ah the ITKs on here saying RM too..ah well.

If the lad has any sense he will stay well clear of Real Madrid, that club treat players like throw away toys.

Like most I hope he comes back but with the recent press from his mother claiming that fergie brought Pogba to tears it seems like they still have an axe to grind with the club, not looking good.

You know what will happen, RM will buy Pogba for £95m and will fund it by selling James to us for £65m!

If Real are moving for Pogba before the Euros, I feel Zidane is really adamant that he wants him and Pérez is listening, for once.

Left to his own devices, Pérez would wait for Pogba to do something big at the Euros before making the move.

I felt our one best chance in this was Pogba having a moderate Euros, but Zidane seems like he's having none of it and has made Pogba his priority signing for the summer irrespective of what he does at the upcoming tournament.

Bugger.

Pogba to replace Kroos, could make sense unfortunately. Kroos off to city then.

As if that would have helped. Pogba is already an establish top player, having a mediocre Euros wouldnt change a thing. People need to realise that we're not a top top club at this moment in time and this will also show in the transfer markets. Even though we have cash, we will not be first choice if we have to compete against the top 5 clubs

If he has a moderate one while another player has a star performance, Perez is stupid enough to go for the flash in the pan.

Yeah right...
Pogba is a top player all clubs would love to have, irrespective of his Euro performances

Where is all this talk about Kroos being sold off by Madrid coming from? I haven't heard any. Isn't he a regular starter for them? He started the CL final.

Whilst I can see him going to one of the Spanish giants I'm fairly relaxed about this potential transfer to us. Like many here I feel he's a bit overrated and not an essential buy but if we do get him it'll be a great fillip for the club. I also wouldn't be shocked if we did sign him as Mourinho + United is a pretty big pull. Would be a great little feck you to fergie from Mourinho too to correct what is perceived by many as a battle Fergie lost in letting the player leave too.

Sorry but Pérez had proven time and again he is a transfer muppet who goes for the shiniest toy at any given time.

Left to his own devices, he'd gladly move for someone else who had an amazing Euros.

The point is that he wont forget about Pogba just because he has a mixed Euros but instead goes for someone unknown who has a great tournament

'Won't forget' is not the same as moving mountains at premium rate to get him this summer. Juve's valuation would still be extremely high even with a moderate Euro - Pérez is not the type to spend those kind of funds before a breakout season/tournament.

Zidane's pull seems to be incredibly strong if he's making him change M.O. this summer, even.

The lack of hope in this forum kills me, we might as well give up on signing anyone decent. Playing in the CL might be a deal breaker but if you are Jose/Woodward you can remind Pogba that; no team not matter how good they have been, has retained the CL. So the chances of him winning it by joining Madrid next year are almost as low as us not being in it. He can come and be a mega star here or go and be aside show to Ronaldo and even Bale. I am pretty certain we can offer him a much better contract than madrid can.

If the above fails, keep offering Juve more money to drive up the price. If we are not getting him, we might as well make Madrid pay as much as possible. If he does go there, one of Kroos or Modric are going to leave. Id say its going to be Kroos, and we need to get involved in that too!
 comedy gold. That really isn't a unique selling point. No they really not the same likelihood and I think Pogba will disagree on that one too. Real have won the damn thing 2/3 years. we have failed to qualify 2/3 years. Whats better for your champions league prospects? I have never seen a player move clubs based on an urban legend. United made straight 2 finals ourselves and Real will make the semi's or finals every single year. I'm sure he'll fancy his chances there.

Sorry but players have a habit of choosing to play with other top talents in great teams than merely being the main man. Did Gareth Bale joining Real despite our bid, not teach you anything? Toni Kroos? Neymar? Suarez? All top players seem to join fantastic teams with already full of superstars. Just the way the cookie crumbles and I would hazard a guess it'll be the same with Paul.

Why would we be able to offer more money? They generate bigger revenue than us do they not? Also he gets to play under Zidane who I am confident is an idol of his. Bah, why am I even bothering discussing whether or not or even why a player will choose Real Madrid over us?

Don't disagree with your overall point, but this bit in bold: Real tamper with player image rights and the tax rates over there are no longer amazing. We'd offer a higher wage (we would have to) plus he would keep a larger percentage of his commercial profits. I think he'd make quite a bit more here over a 3yr span than at Real.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't there still a real risk of Real being transfer banned?

What are you on about? Pogba is one of the best midfielders already. It's not that he first needs to prove himself, he has shown his quality for France and Juve

I don't think he comes back, we had our chance but failed, he will be at Real or City soon I fear...

But what I don't get is how people think it would be embarrassing to buy him back, he's world class ffs.
Yes, it was a mistake to let him go but it wouldn't be one to bring him back, it's two different acts.

Looking at it, Pogba is possibly the most valuable football player in the world, taking age into account.
Ok Neymar is probably ahead of him, Messi still has some value and then there's a group of De Bruyne/Müller/Griezmann/James with Pogba at least on their level IMO

If you were a betting man the smart moneys on him leaving for Real if he has a stormer of a tournament, Perez signing another galactico for his countryman Zidane.

I dont think Mourinho or SAF would see this signing as any king of "feck you" but if it was I cant see what would be great about it. The two have a mutual respect and hopefully that will continue, if Mourinho starts antagonising people like SAF he is sowing the seeds for his own demise, just like he has fallen out with powerful figures at other clubs. Hopefully he has learned from that.

What a strange post, our reported approaches for top level players aren't just part of a media conspiracy to undermine us ffs.

Ed has been for the last few years trying to throw the money around we already know this.

That logic is glorious. Never take up gambling.

Doesn't rule it out, but as he says, Euros and his holiday will be happening first. If the links are real, it will go on for some time.

#Pogback
He's also nowhere near as bitter about his past at United like some make out.

Personally, I don't see him coming here anyway. Think if we were to sign him, it would be next summer, assuming we are back in the CL looking like a good tram and R.Madrid banned from transfers.

It sounds like you're trying to argue that he has similar chances of winning the CL at Madrid and Man United?

Realistically, if Real match any offer we make he is much more likely to go there, but doesn't mean we shouldn't try.
£78m that was quoted in the press today seems about right, but honestly wouldn't mind going to £90m if it meant we got him.

Ronaldo makes 288k after tax according to leaks lol. They can break the bank for the right player. Plus the money isn't going to be significant enough to counter the level of the team. they are streaks ahead of us and he will be filthy rich either way. Surely we would've offered Bale Rooney-esque wages, more image rights and he could "increase his brand," yet in the end.......it means nothing

Are missing the point on purpose? Not going to repeat myself.

With all the talk that we've been trying to sign a "big name" for the past few seasons ie. Bale, Muller, Neymar, clearly the money's there for a marquee signing. Pogba would fit the bill perfectly, and like others have said, even if he decides to leave for Real/Barca 4-5 years down the track, he'd still have massive resale value plus we'd have gotten some peak years out of him.

Definitely one to go all in for imo. Would solve many problems for us. Hope Agent Paddy's been in his ear, and hope Morgan and Martial wear him down at the Euros :D
