Didn't Perez rule out his signing?

And he has no place in their midfield unless they switch formations or sell Kroos.

Absolute muppet fantasy, can only dream.Madrid need a shining new toy,he seems the new toy available this season except may be Hazard makes a stunning euros and even at that they might get both.
God I hate that club !

Hopefully Real sign him up quickly, then we can work on realistic targets. Sad that Pjanic is going to Juve as I thought that might have been feasible and I really like him as a player.

So Pjanic to Juve, Pogba to Real Madrid, Kroos to City (just guessing) and we will probably get Gomes.

Also the transfer ban on Real Madrid is not going ahead it seems.

This was never on. There was no way zidane was going to pass up the chance to sign him

Yeah we can only pursue one target at a time

The "embarrassing for us to pay £80m for someone we lost for free" narrative is a strange one.

Who's going to be embarrassed? Mourinho? Woodward? They'll both be proud as punch to be rectifying a ridiculous scenario that neither were involved in.
think we'll be alright, everything will be forgotten if he preforms which I think he will... Chelsea bought Matic back as well even tough the fee wasnt as high as for Pogba... let's say it would be a bit more expensive loan deal or that we feckd up with a buyout clause, unlike barca, but still it will be worthy to get back a player who's future balloon d'or contender

What is the point of the ban then? Fifa explicitly said that they will make a decision before the window opens, yet here we are.
I think it's because they're getting a two year ban coupled with the upheaval at FIFA and length they were taking with the case also played into them apparently delaying their ban. It's ridiculous IMO that it doesn't start now though.

Guys there is zero chance he's coming, please dont do this to yourself.
Why is there zero chance? You would think we would be making him the number 1 priority - a complete CM who qualifies as homegrown and from the club (something that Mourinho has had problems with in the past at Chelsea)

Because the next step in his career is a move to Barca or Madrid. They both offer more realistic chances of winning the champions league than we do and with history between him and the club I personally can't see it happening either.

There again, Jose does have some serious pulling power let alone the club.

Mourinho is playing hardball with this Pogba affair. As his move coming in, it's quite forward. I regard it as a slight slap in Ferguson's face. A bit like recovering Matic for Chelsea, only much worse, as letting Pogba go is generally seen as Ferguson's biggest mistake. Mourinho isn't taking any prisoners as he arrives...

I reckon he holds some grudge/pride against us, we are a huge step down from Juventus and he could go to better clubs, and thats when you assume he wants to leave Juventus. With the possible acquisations of Dani Alves, Mascherano (?), Pjanic, Berard they are CL outsiders, so shy would he come here? Only reason I have is money.

I feel that if United were serious about signing Pogba they will have to offer something no one else will. This may sound ridiculous, but here in Australia, one of the biggest names in AFL (our form of football) recently signed a 10 year deal with one of the big teams, it was shocking at the time but now seems like great business. IF we offer up a crazy deal like 10 years at 350,000 p/w...chances are, with the way football is headed, that in 5 of those years that will not be a ridiculous number at all. It may lure him or may more liekly attract his agent. Some small clause or agreement that he only needs to play 5 games to activate the next year for every after 7 years or something of the sort can be included to protect against career ending injury.

Makes sense to lock away supreme talents for long periods of time, it seems that 5 years is the most anyone is willing to offer in football, but American sports regularly offer very long term contracts to appeal to the elite talent and the largest I believe is 15 years.

Im just thinking we may need to change the game commercially a little bit to appeal to those at the very top as we are not currently on a level playing field with Real,Barca,Bayern etc. With American owners who would be used to this kind of thing it could be a winner.

We won't play Champions League football next season. Do you think he wants to play in Europa with us?

This thread is going to be that torturous summer transfer window thread that even haunts you in your sleep, isn't it? don't kid yourselves guys, it never happens.

Well, as much as we all love Sir Alex this is exactly what's needed. The club needs a slap in the face to reset itself after SAF's reign, we're still wallowing at the minute.

If Mourinho ever thought he could persuade him to come back then I am sorry to say he was deluded.Should have signed Sanches and Pjanic and used them in a midfield 3 with a tall defensive midfielder. Use the money and time to build the squard elsewhere.
He is never coming back, most definitely Madrid bound and the feckers will sell us Rodriguez at an exorbitant price ,conniving with Mendes to defraud us.

If he's convinced Mourinho's going to win titles with a team built around him, why not?

I'm going to enjoy this up until his Real Madrid unveiling :D
Seriously though, there's a chance

The lack of hope in this forum kills me, we might as well give up on signing anyone decent. Playing in the CL might be a deal breaker but if you are Jose/Woodward you can remind Pogba that; no team not matter how good they have been, has retained the CL. So the chances of him winning it by joining Madrid next year are almost as low as us not being in it. He can come and be a mega star here or go and be aside show to Ronaldo and even Bale. I am pretty certain we can offer him a much better contract than madrid can.

If the above fails, keep offering Juve more money to drive up the price. If we are not getting him, we might as well make Madrid pay as much as possible. If he does go there, one of Kroos or Modric are going to leave. Id say its going to be Kroos, and we need to get involved in that too!

Problem is we don't have a chance next season at all of winning the CL. If we lose out on Pogba, no big deal; there are plenty of other players to sign at that position and in other positions of need.

Would this guy count as a "home grown" player for a premier league side? He wasn't at United for "3 entire seasons or 36 months before his 21st birthday" was he?

He is.Exactly 3 seasons unless they don't count the time he's ineligible due to international clearance which would be ridiculous.

Pogba will want to move to a team where he thinks its an improvement from Juve.
I seriously doubt whether he will consider us as a step up.

Load of shit.

United is a massive step up to Juve these days.

We may not have a great team right this minute, but Jose will build one with our resources.

We need to add some players with the potential to be the top 3 in the world in their positions.

We currently haven't any in the top 20, except DDG and Shaw if fit.
