Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

Cannot see us getting him if Madrid get involved, unless we blow them out the water and he wants to come back.

:rolleyes:Ah a summer transfer saga, we can't go one window without one can we?
In all seriousness though as brilliant as this signing would be I can't see it. We'd have to offer immense amounts of money for him and If for a second anyone thought he was avaliable then literally everyone would be in for him.
I'm not saying don't hope we can sign him by any means, but don't use getting or not getting Pogba as the reasoning for seeing the transfer window as a successful one or not come September.
If we can get him we should give them as much money as they ask for. He'd take us from a good team to a great team and his resale value would be immense anyway.

If we are really going to go down this stupid path, like Sergio Ramos last year, I hope that this time we at least have a Plan B. With Ramos, we went balls in and ended up playing Blind at CB

"Sky Sports News HQ understands Manchester United didn't include a sell-on clause when Pogba left the club. United also understood not to have buy-back option"

This "journalism" lark is a piece of piss!

Ronaldo makes 288k after tax according to leaks lol. They can break the bank for the right player. Plus the money isn't going to be significant enough to counter the level of the team. they are streaks ahead of us and he will be filthy rich either way. Surely we would've offered Bale Rooney-esque wages, more image rights and he could "increase his brand," yet in the end.......it means nothing
Ronaldo is Ronaldo - the superstar of the team. He and Messi break the rules for their clubs and they constantly have to bend over backwards for them, which is understandable.

Image rights on top of wages that are likely to be higher in the first place, must surely add up to a lot more. Pogba has a long way to go to make demands of a Real Madrid like Ronaldo can or re-negotiate his image rights with them. Rich is relative, too, as sure, he'll be rich wherever he goes, but if his sole focus is money, there's smarter choices for him to make than Madrid before he's a genuine superstar - PSG, Chelsea, ourselves and City would all make him more over the next 3yrs, imo.

Like I said before, I didn't disagree with your overall point, just the money issue. The allure of Madrid is about a lot more than cash, plus Zidane, who I believe is his idol, is making direct overtures, to him, apparently. That's a lot of sway.

He wants his holiday and the Euros out of the way before he announces he'll be Madrids next galactic. I think this thread needs locking before caftards start getting locked up. Chasing Pogba this summer will be like bondage sex without the pleasure.

After all is said and done. If players get the choice between Real and United for similar ridiculous amounts of money, they're going to choose Real 99 times out of a 100.

Have they said his recently?

Maybe it's due to rise of twitter, but SSN have fallen so much in terms of credibility. They come out with all sorts of shite these days.

I hope we sign the cnut and then bring Scholes out of retirement the next day.

Louis?

I feel like this will end up being the transfer saga of 2016. Like Fabregas,Ramos,Thiago etc. Regardless even if Pogba moves somewhere it won't be before July. Although I seriously doubt he'd move anywhere other than Real. Mourinho has some pull but Zidane must have an even greater pull for a Frenchman. Also there is the fact that Real is miles ahead of us at the moment unfortunately.

Don't you stop the dream. It's not a transfer window if we're not spending 90 mil on a superstar.

Pogba for 120M ? For that kind of money I would try to get Verrati or even Koke.

We should try to sign one of the younger talents , like Tielemans or Neves.

Realistically for the coming season im not expecting us to be the top 3 and Win the Europa League . Next summer we should go all out for Dyabala.

Imagine : Martial - Rashford - Dybala

They can have him for 120m ffs.
He will be so underwhelming for them. You either have the trickery or score 40 goals a season. Another James imo.

Guys forget about it. Once the Real Madrid snowball starts rolling in the media there is no stop to it, they always get their man.

Andre Gomes is not the answer, but Pogba is. If he goes to Madrid and we only sign Gomes/Matic, i personally would view that as a transfer failure. I've no doubt we are in for Pogba, as he's exactly what our MF requires. It's just whether we can convince him to comeback with no CL. Feck Fergie, honestly. Between anointing Moyes and losing Pogba because of a JOS, Rafael combo against Blackburn, it's his fault we are in the mess we are in. Anyone who watched Pogba in the youth teams could see the kid was destined for the absolute top. Madness he was treated the way he was. Now we have to watch that classless club RM scoop him up. Because, we all know once they come knocking, that's it, game over. Only thing i can think of it that maybe Pogba prefers Barca, and might wait around at Juve for them till 17/18 season.

calm down, Pogbas's last season with us was hardly convincing, he was out of form, despite that Fergie included him in some of the matchday squads, yes he could do better with that game against blackburn but Pogba's ego meant that he thought he should be played no matter how out of form he was.. retrospectively we regret it big time but at the time it wasn't a big deal.. All what was needed was a bit of patience from Pogba, he would eventually got his chance..

Defending the CL title vs defending the FA cup title....tough call indeed

Well thats that then. He said "every team would like Paul Pogba." They don't really need any other players to be honest except maybe an upgrade on Benzema (it's not essential). Chances are he is Madrid bound

Has he signed yet??

Trying to schedule a trip to Carrington to coincide with his medical

Guys, please... :D
I'm a Juve fan and I have massive respect for Man Utd, but Pogba is not going anywhere, the club doesn't want to sell him.
Every summer we hear the same story: Pogba to United, Real, Barcelona, Chelsea but then he always stays... papers need to sell, don't believe in everything they say! :D

We want to compete for UCL now (I think the imminent signing of Dani Alves and our interest in Mascherano are clear signs that we want to do it in short terms) and it's obvious that for doing this we need to keep Paul.

Beppe Marotta confirms — again — that Paul Pogba isn't leaving Juventus this summer

I told you guys!

This "journalism" lark is a piece of piss!

Yet another chapter in the history of Manchester United Blunderers FC, to go with:
Our initial treatment of him and letting him go in the first place
Our bandying around figures upwards of 70 mil for a player we let go for free, and then the inevitable failure of Ed to sign him, a la Mullerbaleneymarpedroramosingsotamendi etc etc etc
Benching his mate Schneiderlin and forcing Martial out wide
Not signing Greizman / Lacazette / Zidane / Cantona again to make him feel more at home

We truly have the most embarrassing and dim-witted collection of fools ever in the history of world football running the club

We will never know. The chance was there as we had limited CM options in Ando, Clev, Fletcher with and illness. So limited that a retired 37 year old was called from retirement so we are talking feck all options and he still played f all minutes that season. Ferguson quoted in 2011 that if we don't give Pogba his chance soon, he'll not sign a new contract and move on which is exactly what happened. Pogba had also mentioned he'd been banging on the door (literally) for months saying give me a chance and it didn't come. If it doesn't come in those circumstances then you are left with a frustrated, highly talented youngster, with the world at his feet, and massive self belief, who doesn't have to stay put as he has options.

Real rumour mill begins which ends our chances of getting him back and for 120m they can fecking take him there. We could buy 2 top notch centre mids for that and still have money left over to remodel the living room

**Newbie Alert**

This being the first time I've ever posted in the Mains and having prowled (c'mon, "lurked" is getting old) the CAF since the epic Berba-thread, I have decided to make this Pogba thread my 5-post-a-day-limit home.

Since the mega-thread concept was blasted in the OP, this one is destined to become one.

So, I have now bravely taken the first of three steps towards Muppet Self-Redemption.

Step 1: Identify an Impossible Transfer Target (ITT).
Step 2: Spend hours fantasizing about ITT, building formations and randomly changing his name from Pogboff to Pogbon.
Step 3: Come to terms with losing out on ITT, and double-thinking my way to the "I never wanted him anyway" Shangri-La.

He's going to Madrid isn't he... Oh well, I never wanted him anyway.

I dont think Mourinho or SAF would see this signing as any king of "feck you" but if it was I cant see what would be great about it. The two have a mutual respect and hopefully that will continue, if Mourinho starts antagonising people like SAF he is sowing the seeds for his own demise, just like he has fallen out with powerful figures at other clubs. Hopefully he has learned from that.

Maybe they do, but there's the view that Fergie doesn't actually like Mourinho very much (according to Charlton) and tried to stop him getting the managerial job in favour of Giggs. If one of Mourinho's first acts is to bring in a player that Fergie perhaps shouldn't have let go, whilst also benefiting the team and sending out a big message that we can sign high profile sought after talent, it's a pretty big statement. 'SAF was one of the greatest managers ever but still made mistakes, and now I'm correcting one of his biggest mistakes. The name's Mourinho, Jose Mourinho'.

:)

Andre Gomes is not the answer, but Pogba is.

Depends what the question is really. If the question is 'Who is a Portugese player playing for a football club called Valencia?' then it's definitely the answer. In all seriousness, if Mourinho sees Gomes as a better fit for the team, someone he can take to the next level like he did with Lampard, then 1 year later we might all be saying 'Pogba? Meh.'

When Pogba moves here, he will bring out the full compliment of excuses and blame the player/ agent/ United for forcing the transfer. Isn't this the guy who sat down in a much publicised and photographed meeting with the Barcelona head of transfers to discuss a Pogba deal last summer? Doesn't really follow that he would rule out a transfer completely this summer.

I didn't think my post was dramatic and i am perfectly calm thanks :) It was a big deal at the time. I remember it very well. Nobody could quiet figure out what Fergie was playing at. Pogba said in the interview that Fergie himself called around to his house to try and change his mind, as he knew he had made a monumental feck up. He then tried to portion the blame to Pogba's agent. That's typical Fergie PR hype. He's a legend but by no means a saint. Don't blame Pogba here and say he should have been patient. He was treated badly and felt he would progress quicker elsewhere. He made the right decision didn't he?

Real Madrid are ready to offer midfielder Isco to Juventus in a bid to see off Premier League competition and land France midfielder Paul Pogba.

It seems that Florentino and Zidane want Pogba as their new galactico.

Yeah he met Barca board last summer and yes, there's a photo of that meeting, but even in that occasion he confirmed that Juve refused their offer.
Which turned out to be true since Paul played with us last season. :D
Now, again, he said that they we won't sell him... and I have no reason to believe that he's lying.
I can see this happening only if Paul himself asks to leave... but there's no clues about that either.
He always said that he's happy at Juve... after the Italian Cup final he said to a RAI journalist that "everyone at Juve wants UCL now" (see here at 0:30) and he recently denied a possibile Barca move by himself on his FB page (see here).
