Raiola:

This guy says so much while ultimately saying nothing, it's truly incredible.

Is there any agent out there, who gives soundbites to the reporters about his client more than Mino Raiola? I can not think of anyone. Sterling's agent talked a lot to press, but that seemed just a one-off. This guy seems to speak to the press almost everyday, when there are speculation on his players.

The positive thing is - he gave similar kind of multiple soundbites during Ibrahimovic & Mkhitaryan saga this year & they both moved to United eventually.

What's his track record in giving the soundbites, when the transfers did not happen and were a no-go? Did he still talk to the media as much for those too?

Or alternatively it means nothing is happening and the club is never going to make an announcement that they haven't signed a player, so until he appears in Manchester or its announced he's signed a new contract with Juve we won't know anything for sure any more than we do now. If we're working on a £100m purchase, I'm sure there's a lot or work behind the scenes involved and it's still only a few days since the euros finished.

Don't want to be pessimistic, but we wouldn't be hearing anything either way. We all thought silence was a good thing for vidal too... until that silence lasted until deadline day.

I mean that the leaks have dried up. If we don't hear one way or another by Monday I would be surprised.

I thought it was pretty common. Not frequent, but not exactly unheard of. I remember a few cases of a players very first club getting a windfall after one of their players makes it big. From Ronaldo all the way down to Jimmy Bullard.

I have never heard before of such a clause existing after a youth player leaving at the end of his contract. If it was accurate then I am sure we would have heard about it before because it would have to be standardised by FIFA rules as the club the player is leaving has no say in the transfer.

So Raiola is basically admitting that Pogba is open to a move if the "project" is enticing?

He "feels no need to leave" because no "project" has been worth the move, not because of some "loyalty" to Juve.

I think you're reading too much into it. Raiola is just doing the groundwork and getting stories straight in preperation of both outcomes.

Raiola:

"Last year, when the bid came in, I really wanted him to go to Chelsea. It didn't happen but this year we will see.

"Juve do not want to sell him and there is a chance for us to talk about a new contract. He feels no need to leave.

"But if you come with a project that will make Paul want to leave, we'll talk with the club."

So a Mourinho project attracted Raiola/Pogba last year, and that's still the case.

Words.

Translates to 'He wants more money' - Footballers dont move for projects, they move for money and that's a FACT - I don't believe we are offering what the media have us believe.

Hopefully Jose shuts the door sooner rather than later then we can stop this madness :)

At least the stories are starting again, hopefully we'll hear something concrete one way or the other in the next few days.

thankfully Jose made it clear that it's not going to be one of these "deadline day" BS sagas. I imagine a 100+m pounds rejection has already been discussed by Jose and Woodward and they will move on.

Raiola is just posturing, there's really no point in reading anything into what he says at the moment.

The good thing, at least to me, is that he is posturing. I mean if he was flat out denying any moves and talking solely about a new contract we could close this thread.

Isn't the most 'interesting' aspect of Raiola's quote that he wanted Pogba to go to a club managed by Mourinho last season? If Chelsea managed by Mourinho last season was a good project it's likely United managed by Mourinho would be considered just as good.

Raiola is a tough customer to deal with. Saw him on a football talkshow in Holland a few times. He's faced a few veteran presenters who are infamous themselves but nothing fazed him, he always had an answer to whatever they shot at him, always being defiant and challenging the hosts of the shows back with sarcastic remarks, supremely confident and all in all seems as crazy as Zlatan called him in his book.

I guess you need to be a true character to deal with customers like Ibra. This guy will play games with us and Juve and he decides who wins (with himself the biggest winner).

Exactly my train of thought too. And like someone above mentioned, all of this 'posturing' is much better than telling everyone that Pogba won't go anywhere.

There's definitely something going on behind the scenes, far too much smoke to be no fire.

Completely different to the Vidal rumours. For a start, we didn't have Mourinho as manager then.

It's certainly feasible.

It's also possible he's just trying to downplay the money angle so Pogba doesn't look like a mercenary.

Thing with the Vidal situation was the injury he had and him rushing himself back. So your right, we certainly can't use the Vidal situation for reference. I think the word project is interesting too. It's a word that you hear more since the Citys/PSGS etc of this world got money. I think it's his subtle way of saying Pogba isn't greedy...He's just loves the idea of the project. This transfer for me is likely but it's like being stuck in the middle of something that has long since ended and we're only living through now.

Pogba can go anywhere. Madrid? That's not a project. A project is something, at the minute not at the top...which is United. A project is something you have to convince someone of.

Lets not forget, Vidal was injured when we were interested. In the end LVG said that he will not buy him until he can prove that the injury is history.
Put simply Vidal was an injury/recovery case. Pogba is fully fit and rearing to go.

Over the last 12 hours we've been loosely linked with Kroos and Fabregas as alternatives.

Posturing from both sides?

Indeed. 'Project' = s**t loads of cash to Pogba (and Raiola).

Marcel Desailly says Paul Pogba has no reason to join Manchester United. “Who is going to give him more than what he has” at Juventus?
The thing is, there is plenty of evidence to suggest that Pogba misses England (Manchester in particular) and wants to return to the club. He has been seen visiting Manchester during his time off so he obviously misses it and still has friends there. Sure we can offer him more money and the chance to return to a better league. But in the end if he feels he'll be happier living here, then that's a more powerful reason for him to move.

The silence means that something is happening. I feel that we will know one way or another soon.
I agree. If Juve were not interested in selling at any cost, they would have put out a hands off statement by now. Its just a matter of seeing how much they can get for him.

Interesting that all the rumours have dried up this week, a week where it semed something would probably happen if it was going to.
So do people think the silence is good news or bad news?.

Silence is deafening. Quiet before the storm.

Tbf Pogba was always going to go on holiday after the Euros. But I reckon it'll pick up very soon. And I think it's impossible to tell from the silence as I reckon talks are still ongoing, so it could go either way.

I think at the moment we're respecting the wishes of Juve and Pogba. We're allowing Juve to get the players they want to soften the blow of Pogba leaving, whilst allowing Pogba to enjoy his holidays without mithering him. Once his holidays are over I'm sure things will move along swiftly and we'll get our man.

The club will definitrly want this done before we head to China to get everyone talking about us and further our exposure in the far east.

I'm refusing to get sucked in, would love pogba here, but I fear that we are just getting name dropped again so the player in question can get a Mega new contract or a move elsewhere , seen it too many times from all the way back too Alan Shearer too the more recent Ramos. I'll beleive it (pogba moves here) when I see it.
