Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

It's funny cause they recon the person your married to wasn't your first choice so I'm not too bothered if Pogba isn't ours. After all, some of our best signings weren't our first choice either.....!!!!

I don't mean to dampen the mood in here but it baffles me how people cannot separate a transfer that may actually happen from a transfer that is just being proposed by media to get more and more clicks on their articles...

Provide an example of a ''transfer that may actually happen'', and compare it to this, because it genuinely does baffle me how easily you can identify this one wont'.

I for one do not care where he plays. If Jose wants him (after sitting back plotting a squad and signing every target you have gone after), then let him figure out where to play him.

Another thing that I don't comprehend is how all of a sudden a pool of very good players is not good enough. I am speaking of those downplaying Carrick and Schwiny specifically. If I learnt one thing last season it's that injuries happen.

As for Pogba, I think he will come. I think signing him may trigger one additional pickup. He is due to come home. He can come in and bring trophies to United.

I think Pogba would be best in a 433 if we drop a CAM and just allow Martial, Micky and himself to interchange and occupy the middle of the field behind Ibra. Although we'd need someone more defensive behind him to provide some stability which is worrying as Morgan is according to reports available to be sold, which doesn't leave us with any midfielders who are very good at breaking up play.

Shipping out Mata, Rojo could go a long way to releasing funds.

I want the signing to happen, but I feel very well prepared in case we don't. It's all due to the previous disappointments+megathreads for Sneijder, Vidal, Thiago and Ramos.
Thanks Caf. :)

I refuse to believe that this is the same guy who was sitting on the bench while Rafael was playing in midfield.

Of course he isn't the same guy! That guy was just an inexperienced teenager. This guy here is one of the most complete midfielders in the world today.

You can't just cast off players who at the moment are average. Carrick and Bastian are great experience and the potential for Schneiderlin is huge. We should be trying to give players like Morgan and Herrera a chance rather than labelling them as average- it's still early days for them at United. We should be doing that alongside buying - and spunking £100m on Pogba would be sufficient. If we start getting players like Matuidi aswell and just kicking out others who haven't been here long who we spent big money on it would be daft.

Fellaini is horseshit

Not early days for Herrera anymore he needs to step up or move on.

Did he really. Don't think that's been mentioned on here before.
We've got to let it go folks :wenger:

I share what I 've read in a couple of articles , nothing new I think. Sorry if repeated , I have not read the last pages of the thread.
http://vozpopuli.com/deportes/85952...olver-al-manchester-por-123-millones-de-euros
This is from 11/07 and is saying that the price would be 123 million euros, 100+23 in extras. United offered Mata to decrease the price but Juve didn´t accept. About sales, the article says" Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young, Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger also would be in the spotlight of the Portuguese..."
http://www.elconfidencial.com/depor...al-madrid-manchester-united-mourinho_1231276/
El Confidencial says that Pogba is not totally convinced about the return and is waiting a gesture of Florentino but also says that Florentino doesn´t like him because has a very physical profile.
http://www.marca.com/blogs/futbolitis/2016/07/12/pogba-la-prioridad-de-mourinho.html
A columnist in marca (working in Cope too) says that " Pogba has already told his people that want to go to United and that only values the option of Real Madrid -his relationship with Zidane is excellent - as an alternative." According to him Juve have asked him to stay one more year. They consider that his price will be similar the next summer but believe it will be very difficult to keep him.
About Raiola commission, he says that he would not charge in the operation as a representative as has been reported but as the owner of 20% Pogba rights, keeping 24 of the total 120meuros.

Is Florentino looking to make love?

It's gonna be interesting to see if the radio silence these last few days means that something is going on behind the door, or if it means that there was actually no truth to these rumours. I'm afraid the latter is the case. Do we actually have any reasonable reason to believe that United are prepared to offer this sum for him - let alone have any interest in him? I know Ballague and Richard Keys have said so, but come on... To me there could just as much truth in the latest (crazy) rumours about Cesc Fabregas. It smells like another Vidal/Ramos saga to me, and it wouldn't surprise me if this "saga" is just going to die slowly without any more big news and any clarification to whether we were actually interested/close to signing a deal.

If he isn't here in time for the Community Shield I doubt we sign him.

Didn't read whole last few pages, whats the general mood status update? :)

I think Pogba is heading to United in the next 7-10 days. There is to much talk, we want him badly, Real is backing out the don't want to pay so much for him. All that is left to do is PR stuff to make everyone in this transaction look good
Not coming.

Have some faith muppets. You got to believe or die trying. :)

Things seem to have gotten a little quieter over the last two days which I think is probably a good sign. Things going on behind the scenes.

Yes, and it's contradictory to his agents statements. The more clubs the more noise we should be hearing..

I think woody will pay whatever it takes to get him here so I'm confident this will get done eventually. Not saying it's the right thing to do as I'd put a limit at 120 however I think woody will go higher.

Yes, there is plenty of belief...

1 - Mourinho tried desperately to sign him for Chelsea.

2 - Ed, just as desperate, has been trying to smash the world record fee on a player. We are desperate for a player, that can show we are "back!"

3 - His agent, Raiola, has mentioned United, saying something along the lines that, we are not the only club interested in him.

4 - Not only Ballague and Keys have mentioned this, but guys in Italy, where Pogba plays his club football.

So, all-in-all, we are in for him. Whether it comes off? Well, that is another matter entirely. As we saw last year for ourselves, at first hand, De Gea to Madrid was all but done...

He has just posted a pic of his new hair on Insta. The colour is telling.....white and black.

His hair is always shit.

It's blonde with tram lines by the way. I don't think there's white or black dye

Doubt there's anyone else in for him at the moment. Sounds more like price-haggling between Juve and United, with Raiola also interested in driving the price up as he gets a cut. Juventus may well not want to sell unless they get a sufficiently ridiculous offer, so this might be decided by how badly Woody wants his man and whether Pogba is particularly keen to come or not.

The only curious thing that keeps me thinking that its definitely still happening, is that it takes zero effort on the part of Pogba or Juve to simply come out and say "these rumours are not true i'll/he'll be staying" this hasn't happened. I think that there may be more than a financial exchange (other players involved) that need convincing or negotiating with (ala Navas and De Gea)

Also if rumours are to be believed that Chelsea have secured Kante, it means we need a resolution out of this matter or else be caught not even getting our 2nd/3rd/4th preferences if they also move on. I personally would like to see it out and risk it to try and secure him, but I guess others may think we should move on right away..or maybe Woody can just sign both. I imagine commercially the club would want him signed before the tour of China, shirt sales will probably go through the roof.

Well he has Black hair for a start. And the rest is dyed as close to white as you can get without actually being white the little swoosh is left black.

You could easily dimiss it if the speculation wasnt through the roof at the moment and he knows the media is all over this. Its a huge statement. He is 23 ffs probably searches his own name on twitter and gets a kick out of reading the speculation.

POGBOFF :(

Desailly: 'Pogba, why leave Juve?'
By Football Italia staff

Marcel Desailly says Paul Pogba has no reason to join Manchester United. “Who is going to give him more than what he has” at Juventus?

There continue to be reports of a transfer record shattering €120m offer to Juve for the player, but both Pogba and the Bianconeri seem ready to resist, asconfirmed by his agent Mino Raiola.

Desailly told The Sun newspaper that he is not remotely surprised.

“Who is going to give him more than what he has at the moment? They have given him a new contract, he is winning everything at Juventus, there’s no real pressure.

“Money? He has a couple of million, he has secured his life with the contract that he has. It’s not like it’s an emergency for him where he has to move. He has time.

“Italy is fine. From the outside it doesn’t seem as though it is very attractive, but once you are used to being there, playing there – they have a nice stadium a great organisation.

“You have seen already that last season he rejected a lot of offers because he is fine at Juventus. I am sure he is going to stay another year.

"He will become the best midfielder in the world. At the meantime he is just someone who has amazing potential.
"Remember he is 23, he needs time, but he has shown so much capacity and ability you would like to see him go on and become a top player in the world.

"A player doesn’t feel the pressure of playing just because of the fee. You don’t think about the fee a club is willing to pay."

Surely lengthy posts about Pogba's hair is spamming?

I think I will stay away from this thread and stick to Twitter for news and updates on Pogba, it's ridiculous in here now.

I am strictly talking about transfers that United, in its current situation, can pull off and has been able to pull of in the past few years. How about you name me one world class player we have got in past six-seven or so years with our 'unlimited' budget? Even better, name me one player that United landed whom either Bayern, Real or Barca were concretely interested in? Thiago? Vidal? Ramos? Kroos? James Rodriguez? Bale? And do not name that one player who was being moved out of the club but couldn't go to his favorite one because of FFP and later ended up making the switch in one year anyway. We got Mata who was being moved out of Chelsea and I don't think Real, Barca or Bayern were in for him. Those are United's two most expensive signings recently. So there is a pattern you choose not to see.

1. Juventus do not want to sell.
2. If a world class player (I am referring to the cream of the crop) wants to force a move away, his likely destination will most probably be Real, Barca or Bayern going by previous six-seven years of history.

Frankly, it baffles me how you cannot see the signs out there. Again, let me reiterate, I would be more than happy to be wrong in this case and of course there is a 0.99% chance that a series of events will lead Pogba to United.

Re Desailly's comments...Hardly a ringing endorsement of playing in Italy is it?

'From the outside it seems like a dump but once you're there and spend some time there it's, er, quite nice I guess'!

I have given the answer to your question the best I could. Like I said, I hate to be someone who dampens the mood or comes out to look like a know it all. A big part of being a fan of a club is enjoying these transfer stories for what they are worth, irrespective of whether they will actually materialize. Let's end this discussion here and wait for the season to start off :) I will join you lot in the muppet wank fest if this goes through. But I am not holding my breath.

Not sure why Desailly's option is being posted here it's not legit transfer speculation.

If Desailly had an account and debating it then fair enough. Not like we give much credence to United ex pros options.

Players opinions, haircuts, a bad start to the day, i think i will just check back in when there is some proper news.

This is still ON, at whatever degree it might be.

If it was off, by now the club would have leaked something to the press.
