Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

I am strictly talking about transfers that United, in its current situation, can pull off and has been able to pull of in the past few years. How about you name me one world class player we have got in past six-seven or so years with our 'unlimited' budget? Even better, name me one player that United landed whom either Bayern, Real or Barca were concretely interested in? Thiago? Vidal? Ramos? Kroos? James Rodriguez? Bale? And do not name that one player who was being moved out of the club but couldn't go to his favorite one because of FFP and later ended up making the switch in one year anyway. We got Mata who was being moved out of Chelsea and I don't think Real, Barca or Bayern were in for him. Those are United's two most expensive signings recently. So there is a pattern you choose not to see.

1. Juventus do not want to sell.
2. If a world class player (I am referring to the cream of the crop) wants to force a move away, his likely destination will most probably be Real, Barca or Bayern going by previous six-seven years of history.

Frankly, it baffles me how you cannot see the signs out there. Again, let me reiterate, I would be more than happy to be wrong in this case and of course there is a 0.99% chance that a series of events will lead Pogba to United.

This couldn't be more wrong. None of these signings we contested with any of those clubs. We didn't land Vidal because we weren't sure of his rehabilitation after his injury. Bayern bought him when we had no interest. Same with James.

By that logic we could say we landed darmian (whom juve and Bayern were linked to), martial (whom most big clubs were linked to), depay (who was wanted by Bayern an PSG). Real signed Hernandez who we didn't want as well.

I don't understand on what basis you say there is no evidence of something happening. Di Marzio (spot on with most news especially Italian league related), L'Equipe (reliable in France) have all said that Pogba has agreed terms with us. Clearly something is definitely going on. It's obvious and .99% is plain nonsense. It's more than 50% frankly.

Didn't Di Marzio claim it was all done with Mkhitaryan, and Daniel Taylor from the Guardian mentioned his wages still needed to be agreed? The player was announced a few days after and more reports surfaced that it was because personal agreements were still being met? I know this is much of a muchness, but if Di Marzio is as granular as to say Pogba has agreed terms, I wonder whether his track record by way of detail within transfers is consistent.

Moreover, its not hard to agree personal terms with a player by tripling his salary. We know the hard part is getting Juventus to accept, and I think theres less than 50% chance of that happening.

Yes, there is plenty of belief...

1 - Mourinho tried desperately to sign him for Chelsea.

2 - Ed, just as desperate, has been trying to smash the world record fee on a player. We are desperate for a player, that can show we are "back!"

3 - His agent, Raiola, has mentioned United, saying something along the lines that, we are not the only club interested in him.

4 - Not only Ballague and Keys have mentioned this, but guys in Italy, where Pogba plays his club football.

So, all-in-all, we are in for him. Whether it comes off? Well, that is another matter entirely. As we saw last year for ourselves, at first hand, De Gea to Madrid was all but done...
1. Yes, Chelsea reportedly offered €80-90 million, which Juve and Pogba rejected. They rejected Mourinho's offer last year, which wasn't that far from the amount we're reportedly offering. Why wouldn't they turn Mourinho(and us) down again?
Juve are known to sell players who want to leave. Last year, Chelsea were newly crowned PL champions and had CL football to offer. That didn't seem enough to attract Pogba. But maybe he really wants to re-join United, and maybe we can offer better wages?

2. Sure, but look how the previous attempts turned out (Müller, Neymar).

3. He would be stupid not to do so if Pogba is looking at getting a better contract or if say Real Madrid are interested - to boost his price. I think he was asked directly about United too. Doesn't mean that any concrete is going on.

4. I know that Di Marzio claimed that there was pre-agreement between Raiola and Man United. But there is far from that to an actual deal. And Di Marzio doesn't have a flawless track record. Btw, his David Amoyal, Di Marzios English companion/translator or whatever he is has said the last few days, that while he doesn't know for sure, he thinks Pogba is gonna stay in Italy for another season.

And to be honest, while a lot of people say that Juve can't resist, or would be stupid to turn down £100 million, why can't they just keep him for another year and mount a CL challenge while they still have him? He's on contract until 2019, and it's not like his value is gonna drop in a year. More likely the opposite, given how things look. Barring any serious injuries of course.

I'm not trying to be a pessimist, I'm just trying to turn down my own expectations. I really do hope I'm wrong, though!

Well he has Black hair for a start. And the rest is dyed as close to white as you can get without actually being white the little swoosh is left black.

You could easily dimiss it if the speculation wasnt through the roof at the moment and he knows the media is all over this. Its a huge statement. He is 23 ffs probably searches his own name on twitter and gets a kick out of reading the speculation.

POGBOFF :(

He has just posted a pic of his new hair on Insta. The colour is telling.....white and black.

Goodbye.

Reminder: Please keep this thread on track. If you don't have anything vaguely meaningful to say about the Pogba transfer then don't post.

In my long drawn out post, I was just trying to answer the simple question, which was, are we even interested?! With those points I stated, I was just trying to give some reasoning, as to why we are genuinely interested. How far that has gone and where it is at the moment, no idea. However, we are interested in bringing him back.

Does anybody know who this joker is? Really a former FIFA licensed agent or just another wannabe ITK? He claims that it's a done deal, and seems to have been posting a lot about our other deals. He's been quoted in some papers.
Still not believing it will happen, just hoping.

Marca saying we are his first choice and Madrid an alternative? Lol. That's different from them.

Marca also state that we're not paying Raiola his commission. He owns Pogba 20% of his rights so gets that money from the final fee anyway!

Great, not only have we got airline specialists, house market specialists, social media specialists and body language and lipreading specialists involved as muppets in this transfer, but we have now added a new subspecies:

- Hairdresser muppets, they will analyze the player in questions hairstyle at any given time, and look for subtle hints of future transfers.

If that is true, it certainly makes sense for him to ship him off to Manchester, where he will be much more marketable than in Turin.

Followed by some journos so i doubt he is a fake . Just might be bullshitting. But the price quoted is same that i read from an itk on anothee forum a couple of days earlier than this guy. It also agrees witb the price mentioned on juventus forum(they may have been wumming ?)

The silence means that something is happening. I feel that we will know one way or another soon.
Or alternatively it means nothing is happening and the club is never going to make an announcement that they haven't signed a player, so until he appears in Manchester or its announced he's signed a new contract with Juve we won't know anything for sure any more than we do now. If we're working on a £100m purchase, I'm sure there's a lot or work behind the scenes involved and it's still only a few days since the euros finished.

Don't want to be pessimistic, but we wouldn't be hearing anything either way. We all thought silence was a good thing for vidal too... until that silence lasted until deadline day.

Juventuz are clearly wumming. Why the feck would a player have a clause in his contract which gives a cut of the next transfer to his previous club? Especially when the previous club didn't even sell him

It is rare, but it happens. Obviously you should not care what anonymous people on forums say in those kind of issues.

He isn't fake. But I don't think he's ITK anymore. Just looking for attention.

Interestingly, Marca say claims of a big agent fee for Mino Raiola are false, he won’t charge anything. They state that Raiola has 20% of the player’s registration rights, so if a deal is done for €120m then he’ll pocket €24m anyway.

If Pogba has gone on holidays that surely means we are a long way off from any official announcements. I imagine if happens then United will want to announce the World Record signing in the biggest way possible with a large media frenzy with him at Old Trafford with interviews/photos/walking on the pitch the whole shebang...so everybody better take a deep breath! I doubt this will be a Twitter announcement while he is on holidays..

It'll effectively cost United the same thing as Juve want €100m themselves so United would have to pay €125m, where Raiola would get €25m (20% of the net fee).

Anything can happen - he could fly back tomorrow and be at his medical on friday for all we know.

Cannot read tweets at work. Could you also post them directly?
@CheGiaevara: "Just pointing out; this is a blog piece by the same guy who once claimed Juan Cuadrado would sign with Manchester United."

@Sport_Witness: "No, no, meant details about all their claims in the past which didn't come off. "

@CheGiaevara: "Oh, there are several of those. The often fielded Neymar-claims are some of the best."

Raiola: "If you come with a project that will make Paul want to leave, we'll talk with the club." Caught this quote on MEN, Interesting.

I thought it was pretty common. Not frequent, but not exactly unheard of. I remember a few cases of a players very first club getting a windfall after one of their players makes it big. From Ronaldo all the way down to Jimmy Bullard.

That is of course true..I just imagine once the paperwork is signed off by everyone the "announcements" can happen at anytime and they may actually want him to take a break after the Euro's to rest..complete speculation of course..could as well be done this week..Juventus are off to Melbourne this time next week and he's being used heavily in the promotion of the games here..again not sure if that will mean anything if he is here.

Raiola:
"Last year, when the bid came in, I really wanted him to go to Chelsea. It didn't happen but this year we will see.

"Juve do not want to sell him and there is a chance for us to talk about a new contract. He feels no need to leave.

"But if you come with a project that will make Paul want to leave, we'll talk with the club."

This guy says so much while ultimately saying nothing, it's truly incredible.

Were we not close to signing Cuadrado though?
Why do La Liga watchers try to discredit every article that doesn't say Spanish clubs are the bestest best and everyone's number one?
I've never read tweets discrediting journos when players are linked with big money moves to Spain.

What you're talking about, is a regular sell on clause written into the player sale agreement between the two clubs. But in this case no such agreement can exist, as we didn't sell Pogba.
