Outmuscled? For a player they don't really want? By a club that's playing in the EL next season and whom they'll have helped to bounce into massively overpaying for Pogba? I'm sure they'll be crushed.
He's great at being a midfielder, not so great at being a defensive, deep-lying playmaker. To judge him based on an international tournament is poor reasoning.Changed my vote for Pogba, £100m is a joke for this guy. Sissoko has looked more like a player we should be after rather than this guy. If Pogba is such a great player then surely he would have shown something of note? Yet another anonymous game from him, using tactics as a defence to this is not a good excuse. He can still break free from the midfield and penetrate the opposition defence and make something happen, but he done nothing. He was like a new born deer, legs everywhere and cant stay on his feet.
French Cleverley strikes again, sidewards passing and no one really knows what hes good at, including himself.
Why cant he show something of note during his home tournament? Even when putting Portugal under pressure he didn't force the issue once and played safe everytime. For 100m and not to show anything during an international tournament is not poor reasoning, when should he be producing it then? Against lower calibre teams in pointless competitions? Matuidi and Sissoko showed more during all games in the tournament. If Pogba is such a great midfielder then why would he be played out of position? A 100m player should be played in his preferred position if they want to have a chance of winning? He's great at being a midfielder, not so great at being a defensive, deep-lying playmaker. Scholes was played out of position by England. He was still a great midfielder. Why cant he show something of note during his home tournament? Deschamps, and stupid football manager. A la LVG.Why cant he show something of note during his home tournament? You have got to be bloody joking. I'm actually going to lose brain cells from reading this thank you very much. French cleverly? I don't remember the French Cleverley getting into the TOTY.Changed my vote for Pogba, £100m is a joke for this guy. Sissoko has looked more like a player we should be after rather than this guy. I'm basing it on how his play was the entire tournament. Too many safe sideward passes and not really doing anything useful. This guy is over valued and over rated imho. From what Ive witnessed he looks average in a midfield with a Championship player outperforming him.You have got to be bloody joking. I'm actually going to lose brain cells from reading this thank you very much. French cleverly? I don't remember the French Cleverley getting into the TOTY.
It's ridiculous to judge him on this tournament, like someone else has said many players have looked average but we know they're not, Infact I rate Alli very highly but if you'd looked at him for England Wales game aside he looked very ordinary
Hardly shot myself in the foot did I? If Sissoko, who hasn't played a game in the Championship as yet, can outplay Pogba then what is your argument? A championship player can outplay Pogba? Pogba was played in his preferred position earlier in the tournament and he was subbed off. Next game he came on at half time, in his preferred position and played well but again Sissoko outplayed him and stayed in the team ever since. I'm not lobbying for Sissoko being a better player, but during the tournament he was the one that went for broke and showcased his talent. This should have been made for Pogba to dominate the midfield given his stature amongst the team, but he was bang average in all games bar that one second half when he came on and bossed it. We needed to see more of that player. You just shot yourself in the foot. Sissoko plays for a championship team ffs, the difference in quality between the two is clearly visible when Pogba isn't told to play a role he isn't accustomed to and help out the defence.
No you see, Kante, Mahrez and Leicester proves my point exactly that the premier league is ridiculously weak now. I mean a team that just avoided relegation the season before won the league the following year after spending considerably lower than most of the other teams in the league. Also, if I were to compare individual examples like you have, West Ham in the 2006/2007 season had Tevez and Mascherano and if not for a Tevez goal against United, they would have gotten relegated.what? The top teams may have become weaker, but the lower ranked teams have gotten much, much stronger. Payet at West Ham? Shakiri at Stoke? Kante and Mahrez at Leiscter?
No, the EPL is not weaker. It's overall much, much stronger. The top teams have just fallen behind the Barca, Madrid, and Bayern.
Your off your rocker pogba's being sparying the ball about in behind defences etc most of the tournament! He's exactly what we need anybody that judges a player of a torunament alone is crazy look at James Rodriguez when Real bought him we all thought they had a hell of player even look at Martial he's been prettty poor (Even though he hasnt had much game time) but my point is its madness to judge this guy of a tournament.I'm basing it on how his play was the entire tournament. Too many safe sideward passes and not really doing anything useful. This guy is over valued and over rated imho. He will.Let's not pretend that the price doesn't matter. With a price tag like that he needs to deliver every week or else the media (and the fans) will be all over him. We've had players before who couldn't live up to their price tags like Veron and Berba and everything they did on the pitch got measured up to that. A world record fee should equal consistenly world class performances. Hopefully he is able to produce that.
This, Glaston would post anything to antagonize people here. First he said Mourinho is known to spend big amount on buying players, when someone rebutted him with Costa being his biggest purchase at 38m Euros, he shifted the goalposts and pointed to no. of players purchased and wages paid by the clubs he managed.Great publicity for Real Madrid to be out muscled by United. 10/10 theory.
You all are probably right and I shouldn't be judging him off a tournament but I'm just saying what I see of the guy. I honestly thought he could have done a hell of a lot more to showcase himself on one of the biggest stages, especially on home territory. I don't watch much serie A football at all due to the boredom and dullness of it so I cant really form an opinion of that. Ive watched a few CL games with him in it but when we got linked with him during the Euros I became more interested in him and that's why I'm judging him on the tournament.Your off your rocker pogba's being sparying the ball about in behind defences etc most of the tournament! Hahaha i love the way you act like the spanish clubs have got to where they are through scouting. They are at the top because they have the best players and the core of them best players have actually been bought from the premier league whats going to happen once the premier league clubs start holding on to the top players?? which they can do now btw as weve showed with Dea gea its only a matter of time before the premier league and Man united rise to the top again.Lol I know , la liga only had two teams in CL final and neither were barca , all three of those clubs would batter the Feck out of any team in the prem. Hmm lets see , so it's all about the money. Don't you love modern football. And the prem has had money for ages but scouting players hasn't been their forte so............................
Which video?Look at Evra, Martial and Schneiderlin working as a triple threat trio negotiating with Pogba in that video. It's beautiful to see, poetry in motion
Deschamps hasnt helped pogba this tournament persoanlly id of liked to see him pushed forward alot more so maybe thats why he hasnt looked as good as maybe youd expect. You all are probably right and I shouldn't be judging him off a tournament but I'm just saying what I see of the guy. Rodriguez is a fantastic player he just needs to be in the right team to get game time. I don't think he had a chance at Madrid with Fiorentino Perez trying to fit square pegs in round holes.
Mate plenty of people know what he is good at, including himself and it is not playing deep as a DM like he did today (forced to by Deschamps no doubt). He should be played as the most advanced midfielder in a midfield 3 much closer to the goal than he did today.
-He is excellent at dribbeling players because he got amazing technique, creating space for his teammates or himself
-He is a good passer of the ball
-He has got blistering pace
-He is one of the worlds best distance shooters
That already makes him a very complete attacking midfielder but to top it off he is also very athletic, strong and tall so unlike most n10's he isn't easily manhandled and he isn't worthless on a long ball
In fact he is one of the most complete players in the game but the emphasis on his game should always be to attack and be the playmaker, not someone to be a controller in the midfield. He is probably one of the most suited players ever for the n10 role, especially in a competition like the EPL where his atheltic qualities will be a huge benefit.
To top it all off, he is just 23 years old and his career is just begining and he has got growth margin to even better. But at the level he is now, he is already considered, by everybody and his dog to be world class and that is based on his performances in a Juve shirt, employed by good managers like Conte or Allegri, not in a french shirt misused by tools like Deschamps.
If there are any players worth 100m in todays market, he is certainly one of them
According to Glaston, Alli and Kane performed poorly because of Rooney. It's ridiculous to judge him on this tournament, like someone else has said many players have looked average but we know they're not, Infact I rate Alli very highly but if you'd looked at him for England Wales game aside he looked very ordinary
I get your point, but a 'not bad' for Griezemann?, he had an awesome Euros, best player in it for me.Out of all the top players who are rated at around £50- £100m, who has actually shown it in this tournament, absolutely none, yes Griezemann scored goals but he wasnt fantastic all the way through the tournament ,
Kane-shite,
Alli-not bad,
R sanches- not bad,
Martial-who knows as he didn't get a chance,
Griezemann-not bad,
Hamsik-not bad,
Gotze-meh,
Muller-meh,
Lewandowski-meh,
Kroos-pretty good,
Ronaldo-meh,
A Gomes-meh,
Sterling-,
Pogba-decent but nothing special,
Bale-not bad,
Ibra-meh,
Ozil-not bad,
I'm sure there's many many more but basically nobody has shown their worth or transfer fee during the euros, so to say pogba is shite or not worth the money is ridiculous as going by this tournament nobody is!
I wouldn't be surprised if we also get Matuidi, and play a midfield 3 of Matuidi, Pogba, and Schneiderlin. Will start by saying this is in no way based on just the euros. But pogba probably wouldn't be rated at 50m even if he didn't have that whole situation with United or Raoila as manager. He needs a very specific role to get the best out of him, not quite a 10 but almost a free role as a box to box in a midfield 3 with the other 2 being the defensive players and passers. His best assets are his goal threat and creative thinking once he is in the attacking third. Pretty average in the first 2 thirds of the pitch though.
Now would I take him, even for 100m? Yeah, he improves us and Mourinho brought loads out of lampard and he can be similar to him. We would still need other midfielders though. Would probably just prefer Kante if I could choose one, not caring about the price, as he can transform a team in midfield with his energy and defensive nous.

Playing Pogba in front of the back 4 is the worst idea ever. Put Kante there, bench Sissoko and make Pogba a CM with freedom.
makes sense. to Be fair he did fine in his role. Definitely was driven like a fiat today though, instead of the Ferrari he isI was pleased with his role today, it kept him away from the goal so he couldn't do anything to drive the price up.
