Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

:lol:David Luiz also made the world XI.

Many people were in doubt with that. I remember there were a lot of memes. But when Pogba was named, people thought he deserved it because he is one of the best centre mid alongisde Modric and Iniesta. So two different scenario.

Out of all the top players who are rated at around £50- £100m, who has actually shown it in this tournament, absolutely none, yes Griezemann scored goals but he wasnt fantastic all the way through the tournament ,

Kane-shite,
Alli-not bad,
R sanches- not bad,
Martial-who knows as he didn't get a chance,
Griezemann-not bad,
Hamsik-not bad,
Gotze-meh,
Muller-meh,
Lewandowski-meh,
Kroos-pretty good,
Ronaldo-meh,
A Gomes-meh,
Sterling-,
Pogba-decent but nothing special,
Bale-not bad,
Ibra-meh,
Ozil-not bad,

I'm sure there's many many more but basically nobody has shown their worth or transfer fee during the euros, so to say pogba is shite or not worth the money is ridiculous as going by this tournament nobody is!

Bale and Griezmann had amazing tournaments imo. Both carried their teams at points and didn't go missing. Rest I agree.

Hardly shot myself in the foot did I? If Sissoko, who hasn't played a game in the Championship as yet, can outplay Pogba then what is your argument? A championship player can outplay Pogba? Pogba was played in his preferred position earlier in the tournament and he was subbed off. Next game he came on at half time, in his preferred position and played well but again Sissoko outplayed him and stayed in the team ever since. I'm not lobbying for Sissoko being a better player, but during the tournament he was the one that went for broke and showcased his talent. This should have been made for Pogba to dominate the midfield given his stature amongst the team, but he was bang average in all games bar that one second half when he came on and bossed it. We needed to see more of that player.

That international tournaments don't mean much. He played in his preferred position earlier on in the tournament and wasn't too hot, fair enough. To judge a 23 year old under a manager whos tactics were all over the shop is very harsh though. Sissoko was one of France's best players, which is further proof that their performances in these games don't mean much. He's average and has been playing in the Premier League for a while now, he's accustomed to the EPL and has done nothing to show he's anywhere near Pogba. If we were to sign players based on their international performances there wouldn't be many worth buying going by these Euros.

Pogba is being bought as believe it or not he is actually an immense footballer already, with the potential to go onto even further things. His marketability will only further lessen the hit our finances will take from his large fee. Playing shite as a DM in an under-performing France squad won't change any of that.

Playing Pogba in front of the back 4 is the worst idea ever. Put Kante there, bench Sissoko and make Pogba a CM with freedom.
That's right. You could see Pogba was reluctant to attack and tentative when moving forward. I don't know why Deschamps chose to curtail the attacking impulse of his best attacking mid. Given the xi. that was chosen, I guess an argument could be made that Pogba is the best deep-lying option in midfield. But when you consider that Kante was also available to him, then the absurdity of Deschamps' tactics become perfectly self-evident.
Pogba is a #10 in midfield 3. Imagine what a disaster it'll be if Pogba comes to play deep midfield while Rooney takes up an advanced position as the 4th attacker. (#10!)

I know that beating Real Madrid and paying a world record fee for a transfer would the best thing eva (like eva, eva, eva..), because that's what football is all about: stupid transfers; but I hope Jose and Woody know what they are doing here. The guy is nowhere a good enough midfielder ready to dominate games or mark his stamp consistently. What we can expect is a great shot or ability to pull the rabbit out of the hat once in every 5 or 10 games. Not a midfielder, at least yet, who is going to elevate our midfield a notch or two.

It'll will the most underwhelming big money transfer in the history of big money transfers. Earlier they used to happen for genuine world class players; we are doing it to satisfy Woody's ego and to win whatever dick measuring contest we have been in with Madrid over the last three years.

Rooney has to become a 2nd striker, and Pogba behind him as a box to box player.
Someone has to cover for them, Carrick, Schweinsteiger, Schneiderlin (or Blind).
In some games, I think we will get rid of Rooney and use Mata or Herrera instead to help Pogba.

That would be my best guess.

The SSN one announcing Real Madrid are out of the race. Pogba is being peer pressured into an important decision in his life and it's nice to see
Cheers bud! Great clip, Schneiderlin looks like the kid who always tried to hang out with the cool guys...

Poggys and Tonys reaction after he butts in on there convo  at least he is trying !

Possibly you're guess is correct. But it seems too luxurious to me. There would be too much pressure on Pogba to fill a multitude of tactical requirements. I'd prefer Pogba to burst forward into space in possession and launch counterattacks. The space won't really be there if Rooney is stationed in the hole behind Zlatan. Of course nothing is certain and if Jose believes he can make that work, who am I to argue?

Hahahaha it's great. White guys eh

This is a transfer thread. Can we please stick to it, pages of debating his performance in Euros etc take it elsewhere.

IMO United are being played massively by RM and Juve to wildly - and do mean wildly - overpay for Pogba.

They know that Mourinho likes to spend big, they know that United are desperate to show that they have "big clout" and can get one over RM, and they know that United are desperate to get back into the top 4 this season - not least because of the sponsorship money loss involved if they don't.

I don't think that RM, in reality, would be even remotely willing to pay £100m for Pogba, but they've pretended it's a competition with United .. and of course Juve are more than happy to play along.
We are not worthy of such amazing insight.

Quick, someone call Mourinho and tell him he's about to make a terrible mistake

If we buy I hope José has it in mind to play him as part of a midfield 3. He was wasted in that holding role last night.

Bid imminent today then lads?

Leaving for work but I'd love to come home amd see we've launched our bid.

Di Marzio will be the first to report any real bids. This transfer saga is right in his wheelhouse. Unless it's someone like Andy Burton from the english press, Di Marzio's twitter should now be on 24/7 pogba watch.

Pogba is barely over the game yesterday. I reckon any talks will be resuming from tomorrow.

He wasn't rubbish last night, just not suited to the role, but overall had an underwhelming tournament. But I have watched him for 4 years and I will be over the moon if we manage to sign him. Yes, we will be overpaying, but is it the first time a big club is paying over the odds for top talent? He has the quality to elevate us a notch, and everyone knows it, opposition fans are worried because they know how good he is. I really hope we can pull this off.

It's looking positive but I'm not going to believe it until a bid is accepted. Like I said previously I think the longer this goes on for the less likely it is that he signs.

Still think there is a solid chance he will stay at Juve.

Agreed. As I have said before, I ain't believing this is happening until I see him signing the papers on MUTV. We might have the financial muscle to do this, does Pogba really want to come though...? Still not convinced.

Ai... Glaston again successfully ruining a thread and obsessing about United's business.

All we will hear today is that he is going on his holidays for a couple of weeks and will comment on his future after that!
(Then announcing that he his staying at Juve).

I couldn't give a shit how he played at this tournament, you should never buy/not buy a player due to a few games at international tournements.

You judge them on their club career, so for any doubters on Pogba's ability; go check out his past 4 years a Juve, rather than the past 4 weeks.

I would love him at Utd but with that kinda money touted, you could buy 3-4 top class players. It'd be incredibly stupid to overpay like this.

Like? Because I think at most you get 2 in today's market.

Absolutely. International tournaments are not a great indicator. France's best player last night could be playing in The Championship next season and Portugal's goal scoring hero totally flopped in the PL last season, 0 goals in 16 apps or similar.

I reluctantly get how someone doubts the value in the transfer fee, but it baffles me when his quality is doubted. People who haven't seen him for Juventus over the past 4 years are in for a surprise. Guy is class, and is constantly delivering moments of magic.

Looked worse because he as playing out of position. Like someone said, even paul scholes was played out of position with england. Also, by that logic, Gignac is better than Martial.

International tournaments are nothing to go by, if we pull this off, we are getting a world class player.

Such as...

I ain't a scout but you cannot be thinking that there aren't very good players who can be for a fraction of that sum mentioned.

Like? Because I think at most you get 2 in today's market.

Ok, semantics then. Forget "top class" and replace it "good" because that is what he is at the moment, he's a good player and not a world beater.
