Do you want Pogba for £100 million?

If we paid 80 million for a player from our own academy, we'd be the laughing stock of football.

We bought him from Le Havre, i'm sure they are sad about him leaving for pennys too.

We wouldn't care about the past if he ended up here.

At this point we have to let go of our own pride. The boy is godly. How ferguson didn't sense that still baffles me.

If he moved to our cross city rivals and helped them win trophies, people would still laugh. I'd rather they laugh with the trophy in the Red half of Manchester.

European clubs do it quite often, Munich just bought back Hummels from Dortmund after letting him leave through their own academy.

Does it matter? If he went to Barca for 100m people would still laugh.
Surely you would rather have one of the best players in the world (POTENTIALLY) than not. Ultimately, we would have one of the most promising and most complete players in the world. Then we could laugh straight back at them,

The price tag would be forgotten the moment he produces that sort of quality week in, week out.

Well the thing is that Griezemann would be a fantastic signing but if the midfield cannot hold the ball and provides forward passes, they won't score... Our best midfield right now is more or less Herrera Schneiderlin Mata, maybe Rooney (if remotivated by Mourinho). Pogba could replace Herrera in games where we need more physical impact... Or play instead of Schneiderlin if we want to dominate a weaker side. I don't feel like he's the player who's going to change everything, but he would bring a Vieira type of influence, i.e. he could be the next Roy Keane. And I would love to see him combine with Herrera and Mata.
Exactly. Griezmann is not a miracle worker. If we don't get midfielder's capable of actually making forward passes consistently and driving forward with the ball, he will flop. How can carrick still be our best holding midfielder in 2016?

Ye're all being fair optimistic with your £60m more like £85m I would say. We'll probably sign that Gomes fella, who looks like a slightly better version of Herrera. Not a major upgrade I would say.

Just pay up... £70/80/90/100m... Like some other posters have mentioned, he won't retire here meaning his re sale value will probably be a lot more when we sell him to Barca or Madrid for a stupid fee when he is like 26,27 years old about to enter his prime for double what we paid. Unless he does retire here than it's worth every penny of what we paid for him.

He is worth a world record fee.

Prices are up at least 25-30% since Bale moved to Real in 2013.

£85m in 2016 is like £50-60m in 2013.

This, look at Madrid they overpaid for Bale but with their two CLs in three years who remembers that. Their profile and marketing potential has probably risen to astronomical heights and they will surely renegotiate a more lucrative deal with Adidas soon. If we spend a hundred million on him, bring in Ibra for free and get that CB then our spine is stiffened and we automatically get back in the CL.

Woody's been desperate for a true Galactico signing for years now... Looks like the perfect Mourinho midfielder too. Can see it happening, assuming Madrid/City aren't interested.

I have no idea what Pogba is "worth" but short of having to sell De Gea to fund the transfer fee and his wages I'd bring him back in a heartbeat.

I don't ask for much in life but if Mourinho could bring in Ibrahimovic, Greizmann, Kante and Pogba and no one else we'd be completely set to destroy the league next season. (We can do just fine with the defenders we already have, provided they're instructed on how to defend set pieces.)

That said, I'm not holding my breath that we can bring in any of those players except Ibrahimovic.

Letting Paul Pogba leave for free made us the laughing stock of football.

Signing someone who can dominate our midfield for the next decade is the most sensible idea that I have ever heard.

No one will be laughing if he is a world class player for us. It'll be much worse if we let him go to City, then we'd be actually getting laughed at. Also, he came from Le Havre to us.

That's not all that muppety either. Kante has a €25m clause, Zalatan is free, Greizmann has a €65m clause and maybe you could get Pogba for €100m. That's a total of £144m and we're most likely gonna sell Mata and a few others, could easily make the £44m back. Still require a CB though.

I'm sure the challenge lies more in convincing the players to come than in financing those deals. If neither player flopped we'd win the League-Europa-FA/CoC treble and Woodward would tout that feat for all its worth thereby recouping a significant portion of that money.

Ohhhhh how painful that he was once ours :(
In hindsight, he should have been given a contract and loaned out with us paying his wages. Could have brought him back when he matured. Would have been 10s of millions cheaper than he will cost us to re-sign him. Would love for us to sign him but think he'd refuse any offer to come back here. He'll end up at City.

In Mourinho's 4231. Which midfielder could complement Pogba better?

Question is, would he want to come back and play for United?

Well yeah that is indeed quite an important question. "Does he want to play for us" generally is quite pertinent when discussing transfers.

If only that crock Rafa injured during 'that' game, SAF would have started pogba and we all could have avoided him leaving. ***Sigh***

I don't get the worry of losing face over buying him. They'd basically be our feeder club since the money is no object.

We let kids move to them to accelerate their development, and let those about to be past it move to them or Inter. Win/win.

He still has good friends who he played with in the Academy, a few French speakers in the squad too, our dressing room is on the young side, He might be attracted by the idea of playing under Mourinho and winning the BPL/FA Cup and could also be interested in Mourinho's 'project'.

There are more for's for us than there are any other BPL team imo. I think only Madrid, Barca & Bayern could sign him ahead of us, PSG no because they have just lost there biggest star in Zlatan.

Who cares if opposition fans laugh, he is quality in an area where we need strengthening. At the end of the day, if we win trophies it will all be vindicated.

His agent seems money hungry, and Juve seem open to a move. We should at least try to sign him.

Please stop all discussions regarding this player. Complete cease & desist. It will never happen, and you will end up getting hurt again. Please stop.

Sincerly,
the biggest muppet of them all :(

I think Woody would find no shame in spending a record fee to bring him back.

Rival fans may laugh at us if we spend such money on a player that left us for nothing, but i'm not sure the laughing would continue if he became one the best players in the league.
