But it will never happen :(

Please stop all discussions regarding this player. Complete cease & desist. It will never happen, and you will end up getting hurt again. Please stop.

Sincerly,
the biggest muppet of them all :(

I don't understand this logic at all.

Pogba to United is a very realistic proposition.

If Mourinho wants him, I think we will get him.

It will take big numbers, but he is clearly attainable.

I actually think this is going to happen. Based on Mourinho's past comments on Pogba and Woody's fat fecking cheque book.

Pogba is an imposing player, one you could easily see being part of a Mourinho spine. Something akin to the Lampard role in their 4-3-3 2005 team.

In 4-2-3-1 sure he could play further back but then why spend that much money to lessen his impact?

Either way it looks like he is in direct competition for Rooney's latest role and of course that will come with its own problems in trying to get rid or shoehorning them both in.

But unfortunately that completely ignores circumstance and the reason why we either didn't go for those top players or they chose not to come here. For example, under Fergie he believed in value in the market and so we would rarely compete with other clubs for the biggest players. Hazard would have certainly joined had Fergie paid the agend fees but he didn't because he didn't believe in that. Right or wrong that was his football values and I can respect that.

David Moyes started his tenure late on in the summer because he was contractually still Everton manger this meant that he wasn't able to identify targets fast enough, He was also an in incompetent fool and that also didn't help. We had a shocking window that year and we simply went for unrealistic targets. We still ended up signed Mata who was a world class player from a rival club.

Under Van Gaal we have signed some top players. Di Maria said the only club he would leave Madrid for was Utd, clearly he has zero balls and no spine at all but he was still a top player. Falcao was a huge name and again was linked with many top teams, Memphis was one of the most highly touted young wide men in the world as there was strong interest from PSG and Liverpool yet little old Utd got him as well.

I'm getting bored of this post so let's just lets just leave it there, but the point is that we have as a high a chance of signing any player in the world as anyone else bar maybe Madrid, Barca and Bayern. If Pogba moves this summer why would we not be an option? The amount of players in the media that say how huge a club are yet even our own fans want accept it, just unbelievable to me.

This is bang on.

We would have signed many top players if we weren't so cheap under Fergie and Gill.

For example, Schneider. He definitely wanted to come. We just wouldn't match the wages he was already on.

Under Woody and with the debt more manageable, we can and will sign players from the absolute top shelf.

I think the owners look at Real's Galactico policy and how successful it has been in boosting their brand and revenues, and are looking to take a page out of their book.

If United went to a galactico model the premier league is much bigger the La Liga so it would compete with RM for top dog in terms of revenue (over a sustained period)

We have been trying to do this for the last few seasons, sadly we are unable to get the shinny new galactico on the market, due to other top clubs being their destination. We got Di Maria due to PSG not being able to stump up the cash, and him being surplus to requirements at Real.

It won't happen, he is not easily attainable (for us) and what fat cheque book? The one owned by the glazers who have put feck all money (bar one season) in 11 years?

Do you really think fergie and gill stopped utd spending money??

Glazers taking a page out of madrid's book? Is that the book that told us to spend less than 40m last summer?

I do believe there is money there if we want it. We outbid Real for Bale, but he chose them. What you say is right though, about him being unattainable due to other big clubs that will pounce.

Perez is making excuses for not signing him if anything though.
Oh we have 6 quality midfielders and its hard to improve upon, we would need a termination agreement and its hard to get bla bla bla talk it over with Zidane.

United is a very different club now to when Fergie was here, behind the scenes and on the pitch. I think this works well for us regarding convincing Pogba to come back in my opinion. He would be top dog and has the chance to work under Mourinho. We can offer as much money as any other club in the world, and i would also expect he has some family ties that could be a draw to him, friends obviously. Its just if signing a player in his position is top of Mourinhos list and whether he considers the right wing (for example) more necessary for a "Galactico" type signing. I think i would rather have Hazard then Pogba for us next season in that regard if we could only afford one.

Absolutely, he could even sit down with him and play up the similarities in their experiences with Man United - both were to some extent "passed over" or snubbed by he club, even if one of them was an employee and the other wasnt. Mourinho can sell it to him as "putting things right" at Manchester United, or something.

Is there new information/optimism about us signing Pogba? There's seems to be a lot of conversation about him.

For this past season, we are likely to be no. 1 in revenue. First time in 10 years. No CL means we will probably drop back down for the coming season though.

We have been trying to do this for 3 summers but conditions were against us:

1) Few, if any, top tier players moved clubs.
2) Moses had little appeal and no connections.
3) Our team is currently shit. We are rebuilding.

Now that we have shown that we are willing to pay market rates for the highest quality players, I have no doubts we will get them from time to time. It's never easy though, of course.

Again; I fully believe if we want Pog, we will get him. I suspect we may fave stiff competition from Pep and their petrodollars though.

“Pogba is one of the top players in the world. Pogba goes to any team and improves that team automatically.

"I think everybody has an interest in Pogba. But there are things you can do and things you cannot do. I love the Eiffel Tower but I can’t have the Eiffel Tower in my garden. I can’t even have the Eiffel Tower of Las Vegas.”
Above is what Jose said about Pogba back in July 2015.

I think he will have been one of the very first names that he hands to Woody on his summer shopping list.

Says the man who just bumped it....

How many on here have watched him regularly? When I've seen him he has been below par every time chasing the ball, and looking off the pace whilst doing so. I wonder how much is hype and how much is reality

out of all the muppet threads, this is one i'd never see happening.

It'd be horrible to sign him for monster money when he's already rucked us over once.

It'd be "horrible" singing one of the best centre mids in world football? Hmm

Whats wrong with the club admitting that mistakes were made in the past but it's a new day and we are working hard to make strides forward to get back to the top?

Reacquiring Pogba is a massive step in the right direction imo.

When you've already had him, and he walked out on you, yes it would be.
And he's never coming here anyway.

You have to be very careful you get players with the right character.

We've just seen what happens when you lash tonnes out on a player who doesn't really want to be there, in Di Maria.

Hope we don't get this guy. Think he's overhyped and especially for the kind of money he'll cost. Pretty sure we can get someone with a much better attitude as well.

Sure, but Pogba has never had a bad thing to say about United since he left. He has even said he loves the club. He left because he thought it was the right decision, and it obviously was.

And he was trying it on with Fergie regarding his wages wasn't he? Never going to end well for a teenager.

Absolutely. Why sit around backing up Park and Rafael at United if Juventus offer to build a team around you

I'm sure all would be forgotten if he was to become an integral part of a side winning trophies.

He 'walked out' because he wanted to play, and he wasn't getting an opportunity, despite clearly being too good for the U-21's. The correct decision for his career, as he went on to instantly become a key component in of one of the best sides in Europe.

I doubt there are many United fans that hold it against him for that, and if they are, I fail to understand why.

At first I thought you were kidding but k. The imagination of a football fan is a wondrous thing. allow me to add some unique selling points too. Maybe He can play up driving Chevrolet cars?

having studies this clip; Jose has spent nearly 5 years in London so he knows the London slang pretty well. Jose can polish up Paul's proper "ghetto London" slang so to speak, selling the idea of Pogba the grime MC for when he is done with football.

Or maybe, when the players are jogging onto the field to the O.T. announcer, "Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney, David De Gea"etc Jose can sell the idea that when Pogba runs onto the pitch, he can have Stormzy (also of Adidas and owner of his own Man utd shirt) rapping along to his intro saying "Man try say he's better than Paul Pogz, tell my man shut up!" that could work.

Or worst case scenario they can hang out after training writing grime lyrics while Rui Faria is on the beat. could work also.

it's these little things that make player want to join a club, not so much the promise of money and silverware.

Your mockery is entirely justified. I'm just desperate.

one of Pogba or Griezmann should be our marquee signing this summer. If we want a marquee signing this summer that is.

Actually, it worked out very well for him. He had confidence in his worth, and he's proven it.
Well on a personal level it did, but meant in terms of actually getting the new big contract.

Worth whatever we pay for him. He's got United blood in him aswell. So he would pretty much be the dream signing.

Is there any proper truth in what Castles said? Can we change the thread title now
