Paul Pogba racially abused on social media

Gary Neville must be the new Trump! Hilarious.

The snowflakication of an entire generation is complete. How did we get here?!
You’re an actual clown calling this click bait, guarantee you’ve never been racially abused, throwing around words like snowflake, how dare you?? Try and walk in the shoes of a minority for just one day and I bet you crumble. Prick.

It 100% would have happened without Neville saying anything. It’s the third time it’s happened in a week. Half of the accounts won’t even be football fans, they’ll be 8chan trolls buzzing off the power it’s giving them in the media with all the coverage.

Exactly.

 Yeah, alright then boss.

BTW: What's the guarantee worth?

No, those are cool.

Thank you, Joe, I do!

It's not just trolls posting that crap. You'd think the rise of nationalism, brexit and trump would make most of you realise racism isn't some small minority. Its a big enough portion to outright win elections.

On RedCafe, the mods can over-ride certain words and replace with another when posted. Eg, they banned us using the word Jo.Mo (without the '.') when Mourinho was appointed so if you ever typed that, another word would be posted.

Surely Twitter and other social media companies can enforce similar on their platforms. Choose obvious racist or offensive words and then disallow use of them on the platform.

Any idea @Damien @Niall - maybe you can write to the club and suggest they demand this from Twitter etc?

I don't see how Neville is to blame. He would've made those comments regardless of Pogba's skin colour.

Racists will always be racist, no matter what Neville said or how he said it.

Sadly people are fecking idiots and there's nowt we can do to change that.

We can do as much as possile to eradicate racism and we shoudl do too but you'll never fully get rid and sadly the internet is the easiest place in the world to make a stupid, awful comment and get away with it.

It would be easy to get around that, they will always find a way.

I personally think it should mandatory to post on social media platforms with only real life id’s.

Still allows for free speach but would make it possible to proscecute illegal language.

Good idea. The thing about Neville is daft. There's a very big difference between criticizing a footballer and racially abusing them. Ffs.

Blaming Gary Neville conveniently ignores the systemic racism that’s in society, and therefore football.

Yes he was hysterical, yes he clearly has a bias against Pogba.
But if you view the twitter profiles of the ‘trolls’ (another term that takes away accountability) who were racist towards Pogba, the majority were spouting their comments during the game, not during MNF.

This will never stop unfortunately, as long as different skin complexions exist people will always use it to attack others; even if they aren't necessarily true racists. Real shame!!

Awful, awful post...

Reeks of subtly passing off racism as 'just the way it is', while actively putting forth the utterly bullshit notion that people who commit racist abuse aren't necessarily 'true racists'.

Do yourself a favour and delete, or at least edit this embarrassment of a post.

Huh, come again?

We all know their is no free speech! Just the pretence in Western would that there is.

If I had to display my real life ID, and then used language like the N word, I imagine I could be prosecuted?

Even if that's difficult, I imagine vast majority of racist's would be unwilling to use such language against their real life ID.

Agreed, it's just deflection and diversion from Pogba fanboys to defend their man for being rubbish, and missing yesterdays penalty.

Also a very inelegant argument given Neville was advocating that Rashford take the penalty instead.

All racism is abhorrent and I'm glad so many, including our players, are calling it out. But to conflate racist tweets aimed at Pogba with Neville's Pogba post match criticism is idiotic, offensive and unprovable.

About twenty minutes in Rants and Flex really go into the racist stuff. Very good in my opinion.

Fair enough, but it's a bit unfair for the guy to jump from hearing someone cracking up with Pogba to knowing from the tone of his voice he wanted to make a racist comment. Some players are just infuriating and it's a big leap to go from that to racism just from the tone of a voice.

It might be a start to cut out all abuse at football grounds instead of focusing on one specific thing. Thousands of people calling Luke Shaw a fat bastard isn't exactly great behaviour either. There's a lack of respect for all players and some of the things shouted from the crowd are ridiculous things to be accepting even when it's not racist. Why not start with decency and respect in general and work from there?

It is disgusting, unfortunately people have no accountability when hiding behind their fake accounts and if one person starts with a racist comment the other "sheep" of similar mindsets think it is ok so they add to it.

I actually thought it was one of Pogba's better penalties least he ditched the stupid run up. However even if any player plays badly there is no excuse for racism. Apparently Sterling is quite upfront about trying to kick it out as he's been the victim multiple times

There are definitely signs up at OT saying how to report racism but it is too easy for people on the computer to post racist comments- Maguire definitely has a very good suggestion, it needs to be a bit of work to become practical to monitor but he is right there definitely needs to be something that can link a person to the relevant account.

As an aside I wonder how many of those people posting racist comments were also being quick to praise AWB's performance.... it could even be rival fans. Not obviously that that makes it any less abhorrent.

Ah yes “snowflake”. I’ll take SJWs, virtue signallers and safe spaces next.

Somehow I doubt if you were the type to compare Pogba to a chimp, you're going to praise another black player. It's hardly going to exonerate you, is it? If you're a racist, you're a racist. You're hardly going to be selective

Not a word said about Lingard not contributing any goals or assists since December 2018 yet Pogba getting racially abused for missing a penalty.

"Somethings not right."

Wasnt there also that article about "the gay footballer" (not sure if it's a genuine account) who was having to post anonymously and was going to come out but didn't in the end?

Again there is a problem that homosexuality within football feels like it has to be kept "secret" it is supposed to be a more accepting society, people shouldn't have to be afraid of the repercussions of their sexuality. Obviously this isn't just a football issue and there are usually wider factors at play eg family.

Just catching-up with this now - how many Twitter twats were at it? I’ve seen screen-grabs from two users I think, which is obviously two too many, but how many more have been identified?

Suck your mum
You guaranteed that 'I've never been racially abused' and challenged me to 'Try and walk in the shoes of a minority for just one day' because I'd 'crumble'.

I'm asking you again, what is your guarantee worth?
