Seeing the match going fans I follow on Twitter absolutely hammering him. He was very poor but movement next to him, and in front of him was non existent. A creative midfielder will look shite 9 times out of ten if you field him with this personnel in this system.

It seems the theme from those fans nearest the club, they despise talent that isn't 100% on show for every game, they will never be hard on a player that is willing but desperately not good enough.

This team and the culture around it do not promote talent, as we are seeing more frequently now with Zaha, Memphis and Januzaj.
The triers are given 7-8 years to tread water in this team, the talent is driven away by negative environment.

The people who watch this and make Pogba the object of their anger, deserve this football that's on show.
None of that justifies the lackadaisical attitude, the show-pony tricks that inevitably put our already suspect defence in trouble.

I'll drive him personally to a new club if he wants to.

There's no guarantee he'll love the environment under the new manager and he's simply too moody and plays only when he likes. Feck him off and use the money to pay other quality players that will play consistently.

United post SAF has been nothing more hanging on purple patches and false downs of players and managers. No consistency at all, just false hopes and hanging on them. Feck him off if he doesn't want to be here. Take Mourinho, Lukaku and Sanchez with him too. Let's clean all these big names that are just doing nothing except taking their wages per week.
Not sure you and I always agree, but this I am on board with 100%. Very well said. Ferguson looked cautious about having too many big names. Now we seem to only go for them, and more for their names than what they csn contribute. Sanchez being the prime example

I think he does want to be here he just doesn't like the style of football or tactics. As @drdoityourself said is the culture and atmosphere around the team a one that promotes talent and allow it to thrive? I don't believe so. We had many players before him struggle and he won't be the last either

Well I already said he played a poor game. His decision making was poor.
But give a guy like that zero options for the most of the game, he will try and make something happen for himself.
It didn't come off, but I liked that he at least tried, he tried to take on two players in a game that absolutely nothing was happening. You fans will applaud the 100th backpass by the likes of Lingard because he tries but want to run talent like this out of the club, because he becomes visibly frustrated that there is no platform to perform under this system and personnel.

It's the same with Nani, he ended up being booed by our own fans because he was taking risks. A player who actually could provide steady stream of assists down the right. Now we wish we had a player like Nani.

This fanbase is stuck in some kind of purgatory, hate those who take risks but complain about the awful football being played.

I have no problem with risk + application.

When things are going his way, he's our best player plain and simple. But when there is a problem, he's so frustrating and the worst thing about him is his body language.

He's not a young player anymore, he has to take that next step and be the Man like Ric Flair would say. I still think that it wont happen with Mouriho in charge but he has to take the blame when he performs like he did today.

I'm not saying he wants to stay or not.

I'm saying he's too moody and plays only when he likes and that's a disgraceful attitude. He has too many of these games. It simply depends on his mood approaching each game. If he goes to Madrid and does this shite their fans will boo him to death and will show him what he deserves if he's not playing consistently well.

I'm getting tired of defending him.

I know he doesn't like Jose and his football ideals, but he was abysmal out there.

Young-Mctominay-Jones-Matic-Shaw

Herrera-Fellaini-Pogba

Rashford-Lukaku

That's the starting line up today.
Replace Pogba with any midfield player of your dreams and you would still see a poor performance.

This starting line up of squad players can not get anything out of creative talent like Pogba.
He's being hung out to dry, I just can't blame him for looking visibly frustrated when you know this team just isn't going anywhere.
Put your favourites in there instead of him, they would be waving their arms in disgust sooner than Pogba has.

Poor performance is different from having a "I don't give a feck" attitude. Poor performances happen, disgraceful attitude, not so sure.

I think he obviously isnt enjoying his football and it showed in his performance today. But even on days when he looks like he doesnt want to be there he's still a better CM than all our others, other than Ander today

Did way too much on the ball today and really slowed the tempo. Wasn't the only one, mind, but he has the ability to quicken up play and make us tick, but didn't do so.

He just doesn't want to be there today. Can't blame him, he knew what shit was going to happen with a pack of useless feckers around him.

that doesn't excuse dancing the ball with fancy footwork every 2 mins and 60% of the time giving it straight to a southampton player. A genuine leader and elite footballer will shine in a river of shit. Pogba continually falls into the river of shit with the other players.

What's the point? Honestly. Play well despite Mourinho's best efforts and keep him in a job that he clearly wants out of?

I'm never going to support a player fecking giving up whilst playing for Utd. He was disgraceful out there today.

People paid a lot of money to go and watch us play tonight and were rewarded with a dogshit performance and our best player clearly not giving a shit.

It's appalling.

He's like a restaurant where everything looks great, but where half the dishes come out overcooked as feck. And when you complain the waiters just say 'yeah but the other dishes are amazing'.

He wasn't just terrible today, he should be fined for this performance. Clearly didn't care.

I'm actually amazed that everyone here seems to be in agreement that he wasn't putting in any effort and was dicking about and yet some people are still defending him.

Surely not making any effort is the ultimate insult to fans?

I'm not saying I like it, or approve. I'm just saying I understand where it's coming from.

I have no time for any professional footballer that literally stops for a second - after attempting to roll the ball with the bottom of his foot and forgetting to take the ball with him - so he can show everyone how frustrated he is with himself.

Embarrassing perfomance, embarrassing attitude.

Paul pogba is not a world class player. He’s capable of world class moments but he’s had far too many displays like today. His decision making is abysmal, it’s just that when it comes off it looks great. But when it doesn’t, the effect is far more consequential.

Get rid.

That was as bad as it gets today. He's clearly chucked it, couldn't care less what happens to the club, just wants out.

We will almost certainly oblidge him in the summer.

All the skills in the world, but lets be honest in a team that needs a player, hes a nothing. Only ever focuses on himself, sacrifices nothing for his teammates if the alternative is to look cool. Too focused on his profile than actually contributing.

I'm sure he'll look a star in any team that has 2 or 3 players around him to do the heavy lifting, but right now he's a square peg in a round hole, and whats worse is he couldn't give a shit.

Just watched some of that again and it's so bad it looks deliberate.

Yes, lets get rid of our best player. Barcelona and Juventus are waiting. He deserves much better than Mourinho's version of United

De Bruyne, Hazard, CR7 just other examples of sensational talents who hated playing under Jose. Pogba will thrive under a different manager. Half the team want Jose sacked so they are not bothering in the hope he gets the bullet soon

It's insulting to compare Pogba to the likes of Hazard and Ronaldo. These guys won their clubs big trophies, won best players of seasons and were consistent over years except for 1 or 2 years. They did to their clubs far more than Pogba. Pogba is nowhere near them. It's funny how can anyone still believe in his hype.

Pogba is just a midfielder version of Nani.

This. I wonder how many Chelsea fans wanted Hazard gone in Mourinho's terrible last season there.

If we're a proper football club we need to cash on him in a big deal and bring some quality players that are consistent and not very much up their arse when they step on the pitch. He will never be someone to build the team around, because he's inconsistent and moody as hell and these days will keep happening from time to time. All quality in the world but with this inconsistency he'll be only good in a squad full of world class players to bail him out whenever he decides he's not in the mood to perform today.

I will take a player who gives a consistent 7/10 performance any day ahead of someone who performs a 9/10 in a game followe by a stinker 3/10 the next game. We are more likely to win something with the former.

And people need to stop comparing him to the likes of Ronaldo and Hazard. These guys win their team Leagues and CLs, and under different managers with different set ups. They win games on their own. Pogba is nowhere near them.

He will good as a cog in a machine of world class all around and there's no English club going to have a full squad of world class players. Cash and bring some good players. Cash on Lukaku and Sanchez and sack Mourinho too. Time to stop being a business company and return to being a football club.

Brah, it was feckin Southampton! there's no excuse for a player in a Manchester United shirt. If we we're talking about Liverpool or City away, maybe even an in form Palace is one thing. But it's a garbage Saints team .

And its not just Pogba , but man did he stand out as gash amongst a whole lot of them

I agree he’s probably our best player, his high level is much higher than anyone else. But his low level is worse than Phil Jones and Ashley young. Just consider that for a second. His bad games are worse than theirs.

He’s obviously got talent but I can’t help but think we’d be better with somebody like Milinkovic-Savic and say... Ramsey in there.

Pogba tries to be too cute. He takes too many touches and tries to turn everything into a .GIF. I’m getting tired of him trying to be fancy and losing possession. Scholes, Keane, Carrick, Fletcher all kept it simple and that’s why they were so successful here. Pogba has all these tricks in his locker and he’s confused about which ones to use. Just fecking play it simple.
