The racist/xenophobic element is pretty obvious. The constant character assassination, attacking his hair, clothes etc. is reminiscent of the whole Sterling situation. It’s just disappointing that so many of our own fans have bought into the nonsense spewed by the media. I always thought our fans are generally a supportive bunch but watching so many turn on him, even booing him and then seeing people jump through hoops to justify this was an eye-opener. Pogba’s not infallible and his performances have often not been good enough but the way he’s been singled out is disheartening and I wouldn’t blame him for wanting to leave. The vitriol is intolerable.

I hope that Pogba doesn't think all fans think like the plank who stood abusing him after the last match. If he has concerns that the rest of the OT faithful think like that eejut, then we may have a problem in keeping him.

It makes me sad to think there's too many Utd fans out there, too busy being sucked into lazy media narratives to critically think for themselves.
Look at the world we live in, Trump, Brexit, lazy media narratives are the only thing people are interested in.

The worst part is that when you ask them to back up what they're saying, all they can do is repeat the same mindless slander put forward in these horrible media narratives. They also tend to get very offended when you call them on it, "I don't get my opinions anywhere, I'm just not deluded like you!"

If he gave his all in every game he wouldn’t be getting the criticism. He’s deserved much of it whether he’s our best player or not. And I say that as somebody who likes Pogba and thinks we’re in trouble without him.

The fella played about 60 games last year for club and country. I strongly suspect he was burnt out at the end of the season.

1st for assists in open play. Pretty impressive considering we finished 6th.

Funny the way they restrict assists to open play but include all his penalties in the goals scored column.

Not to mention the usual caveat that players who rack up the most minutes will tend to top a lot of those stats and Pogba probably played more minutes than all the other midfielders he’s being compared with. Apart from, maybe, Jorginho?

If I remember correctly, he had a hand in creating a good amount of the penalties he scored, and if not for the fouls a lot of them would have been assists.

He and Martial were our best outfielders granted Paul's form fell off when he came back from injury. These two probably kept Mourinho in his job during that spell
Occasionally. When either could be arsed. Which is why they get criticised.

Finally get a good team together.
No, no, no. We can't tolerate a luxary player. Kroos or Modric would obviously take a team with Jones, Young, Lingard, Matic, Rashy, Lingard and Lukaku around them and make them champions while getting 30 assists, 20 goals from open play, running 15km per game and not using social media or cutting their hair during the length of their contract.

ok so its another 2 years before he can play well for a full season
Who says he hasn't already played well? This is his individual stats in a broken team that finished 6th.

Looks like a standout season to me.

It is ignored because that doesn't fit the narrative the media has created and people need their scapegoats.

Why can't people grasp the fact that one player cannot carry a whole team to victory, regardless of how good he performs.

The fact that Messi hasn't been able to carry Argentina to World Cup victory should make people realise the importance of the collective team at the highest level.

When Messi looks half the player for Argentina as he does for Barcelona, does that mean his commitment and quality should be questioned?

So... why is this argument accepted against Pogba? When we know how bad the team has been?

I like that you were in on the sky stat about walking, never seen that even related to football before. All over that one, but now discrediting positive genuine stats that are commonly used to judge performance.

7 of those 13 goals are pens (among missing several others aswell)

over half those 105 shots are off target

he had a couple of months looking like the worldie he can be, then went back to being a puzzle. so we can beg to differ on a standout season

Why is the stat mentioning "passes attempted" instead of the accuracy of his passes which is the actual important stat ? What am I supposed to do with the number of shots he had when he had 6 goals only from open play ? So 6 goals from open play out of 105 shots ?

This stat is pretty well driven all honestly.

Found on Whoscored he's ranked 87th in terms of passing accuracy in PL :

As I said the passes attempted stat is very well driven by the tweet. It means nothing, as a player can attempt 3000 passes, half of them are miss passes.

What a useless statistic. Passing accuracy means nothing in football. The more you are a good player, the more you will attempt the most difficult passes in order to make things happen.

You are a fool if you think that this awful stats is better than the passes attempted.

That's a terrible logic. Your logic doesn't correlate with the fact that other attacking midfielders have higher passing percentage than him. For example David Silva has about 88% passing accuracy percentage, or is he doing sideway passes ?

And a lot of CBs and DMs has a better % passing accuracy than him.

If you think that passing accuracy is a good way to judge a creative player, you don't understand the game.

Sorry ;)

Who mentioned CBs and DMs ? I'm talking about attacking midfielders. Way to escape the point I made because you have no answer on the fact that other attacking midfielders who attempt risky passes have higher passing percentage than Pogba.

City's two most creative midfielders this season, David and Bernardo Silva, have passing accuracy of 88% and 86% respectively, higher than Pogba's 82.8% one.

Unless you believe Pogba is the only attacking midfielder in the league who attempts risky passing.

Terrible logic. Just being rude isn't going to enforce your point against actual numbers.

Yeah but passing attempted is more accurate. I can attempt 3000 passes and miss all of them but who cares.

Passing attempted isn't the best stats but it's still tell a lot more about a player than the passing accuracy ffs.

What an awful statistic.

As you wish.

The stats in the tweet is very well driven and it will suit the narrative for some here.

They play under guardiola so of course they'll always keep their pass in check.but out of curiosity pogba or silva who do you think attempts more difficult pass?

Pogba is quite literally the most high risk, high reward central midfielder in the league. He’s also (more or less) the only player at United who takes any responsibility for playing balls over the top into dangerous areas. All that considered, I think near 83% is rather good, especially considering he can be a little flakey during a bad game.

The Silva’s are a lot more circulatory. De Bruyne, who is a lot more direct and easily a more like-minded player, sits on 82.6%. Figures.

So, yeah, those stats are pointless and... a bit shit?

Not more than your terrible picture.

Yeah ranked very far away from the other attacking midfielders in the overall ranking in terms of passing accuracy is terrible. David Silva is ranked 25th for example.
