I'm surprised this hasn't been discussed more, it just seems totally unnecessary. What signs has Pogba given since Jose left ? Like any player he may or may not leave one day, but why chose that moment in time to make those comments ?

Neville made a big deal about people bringing negative headlines to the club. He seems obsessed with bringing Pogba into negative focus.

Pathetic that he's to proud to admit he might have been wrong.
G.Neville is getting really boring. Did not cut it as a manager, looks a pretty useless pundit too. His antipathy towards Pogs makes him look stupid as Paul is proving him wrong on each and every account.

Good opponents have noticed his appalling positional sense and know how to bypass him and render him ineffective. The pattern is there for all to see against top opponents.

The big difference between Pogba’s performance yesterday and what he might have done in the same scenario a few months ago is the huge effort he put in.

He might well solve his positional problems in time and then what a midfielder we will have. At the moment he is too easy for top teams to nullify.
Which opponents have bypassed him and made him ineffective this season? My mind has gone blank and can't think of any other than PSG man marking him out.

PSG, Spurs (yes he managed one amazing pass but in general they killed us) and Liverpool

I dont think there is anything wrong with what Neville said, in fact I see it more as issuing a challenge to Pogba to keep up this form for the next two three years rather than predicting him to fail.

So was Pogba in the wrong position when he received the loose ball won by Lingard and created the match winning goal?

That’s right. One incident / 20 seconds defines the entire game.

Our midfield was destroyed that day.

It seems that no criticism (and it is constructive) of Paul Pogba is tolerated by the fanboys in here.

He’s clearly the best player in the world and has no weaknesses. How did I not spot that?

It did define the game though, we won?

But Pogba is an attacking midfielder and should mainly be judged on his creative output no?

Also I think you should have a read of Pogba’s stats at the World Cup, where he won more duels in the midfield than nearly any other player at the tournament. I think you’re exaggerating his lack of discipline to be honest. Especially when you consider his creative responsibilities on top of that.

Gary Neville having a go at him again, saying he's only playing well because he's looking for a summer move.

The more this guy is on tv the more harm he does to his status as a United legend. From the constant wanking over Liverpool & City, too shitting on us all the time. feck is he playing at?

Gary Neville is an absolute disaster of a pundit. The hypocrisy of his to act as if there are so many negative stories about United and then he decides to come out with that. It may very well become a self-fulfilling prophecy because Pogba simply cannot win with the awful English press.

play bad after Mourinho= more critism
Play good = downed tools and commitment questioned.
Pogba could never win.

Neville:s comment was idiotic.

He's already decided Pogba is a bad guy. He made his decision and even if Pogba cured cancer he wouldn't change his mind. He wouldn't back down regarding a fecking instagram post (like he knows better or something).

Just typical Gary Neville stubbornness. He's a shite pundit.

This was Pogba's best game for United . His effort was outstanding .Trying to track back and be every where. Did not shime with great attacking passes but that's because he was more concerned with his defensive duties.

Agreed..

When I saw McTominay and then Pereira come into midfield I thought Pogba will have to show more discipline to help his inexperienced team mates. He was absolutely brilliant in a different way today. He was never gonna be magnificent with the ball due to our injury problems and the way we setup to cede possession and hit them on the break.

Had he been in the Liverpool midfield today with all that possession, they would've won 3-0 IMO.

As expected there's only been minimal credit given to Pogba for the way he led that young, inexperienced midfield, it's like if he's not scoring or assisting then many aren't taking notice of him, he's started to show some real leadership under Ole, him and Lindelof should be in contention to be the next Captain.

Neville is even worse than Souness when it comes to Pogba.

He's taken it to a personal level and even wanted him out when Jose went. I don't think he's ever forgiven him since that instagram post he kept banging on about.

He obviously doesn't trust him but it's up to pogba to change his mind.

Neville still trying his best to bring back the negative cloud and spotlight to our club, idiot.

Whatever coaching westmeath has done it sure wasn't enough.

Some are trying too hard to not give him any credit and to persist with the myth of him not being good in big games.
Liverpool passed him by?
How yes no.

I just do not care much about what Gary says lately. Pseudo-intellectual average pundit, shite manager, top player - in that order for me these days. Neville seems to have a personal vendetta against Pogba.

Its all a bit strange when talking about big games and Pogba. He got into the UCL team of the season as a young player, has been our major shining light in big games multiple times (Arsenal games, Chelsea games, the derby comeback).

But, he's not perfect, he's had a few stinkers in the CL and against Liverpool. But Liverpool has an edge to it and the CL has regularly shown how lacking in quality our team is. I can understand where some are coming from, Pogba is approaching god levels on here, when it's been obvious that he can't actually run games staying in midfield, he needs to be allowed to attack the box. Herrera and Matic have been running the midfield with Pogba helping out as a third wheel.

In my opinion, Pogba is showing himself to be a current generation Lampard. He can do the yards defending, but that's not really his game and his goalscoring ability is freakish moving up the pitch. He's a mix between a midfielder and a forward.

I think he's going to redefine how manager's look at the traditional No10 role given he can technically and physically do almost anything. He's still young (relatively) and shouldering almost all of our creative burden so it's no surprise he doesn't boss every single game. I don't really get what people expect of him - I can think of two games where we have been completely outplayed across the pitch since Ole took over (PSG & Spurs) and we somehow won the latter thanks to Lingard's interception which created the assist for Pogba. Overall, our team bar DDG didn't show too well in general second half vs Spurs. He was also excellent vs Liverpool given circumstances.

Gary Neville can f*ck off.

If all the top clubs in football want Pogba, it’s because he’s world class. They wouldn’t want any dross players.

More Ronaldinho than Lampard.

Crystal Palace 1:3 Man Utd
I don't like him on the right. He's our star he should play in his best position.

He made the assist by starting from the left...

If Sanchez refuses to play on the right, he should sit on the bench. Right now, even Chong is easily better than him !

Looked tired, tried hard. Got nutmegged in build up to the Palace goal. Good play in build up to Young goal. 6/10.

Can understand why he played on the right as I think Ole has realised Fred can’t play there. Doesn’t suit him as much though.

Missed Matic and Herrera controlling the midfield so he can have a platform to push on. Did well for the assist. 7/10.
