Great CM job today. Covered loads of ground and was going back and forth without taking a break.

Great performance for him for the way the game went. Hopefully he stays for good, hes captain material for us.

Wasn’t at his best offensively, but defensively that’s the best I’ve ever seen of him. Didn’t switch off for a moment and fought for every ball.

Lets see you moan about that souness.

My MOTM, in there with 2 inexperienced young CM's and had no runners to hit due to our injuries, but his composure on the ball in the hectic midfield, his ability to draw fouls and and defensive work were excellent today.

I thought it was a very mature performance from him. Worked hard defensively, brought the ball forward when he could & won fouls. Won’t get the same plaudits as when he scores/assists but this was a good game.

He’s another that was fantastic even if at times when he had the opportunity to showcase his passing ability it oddly seemed lacking. Few key moments where he played a poor ball where you’d expect him to deliver but that aside the rest of his game and the work rate and the absolute shift he put in getting back is probably the best I’ve seen of this aspect of his game here.
Would easily have given him MOTM if it weren’t for Shaw and that slack passing.

This was actually the most damning performance for Pogba, as it shows that he could have played a deeper role under Mourinho, and actually he wasn't putting the effort in at that time. After about 70 minutes, Neville noted that "he'd really put a shift in"; that sort of shift was conspicuous by its absence earlier in the season.

Many people on here then stated that the reason for this was that Mourinho had played him out of position, thereby not getting the best out of him. But we've seen in this game, when asked to play out of position by Solskjaer, the level of effort Pogba made was quite tangibly higher.

I would certainly agree that Mourinho managed him poorly, but it should always be incumbent on every professional footballer to try his hardest, particularly at the very highest level. It was already pretty obvious that Pogba wasn't doing this under Mourinho, but this is even more obvious after this game.

I'm sure this won't bother the people who make it their life mission to defend everything Paul Pogba does. There is no doubt that he's an excellent player, but the jury is certainly out on his attitude and maturity. Hopefully he has turned the corner in this regard now.

He made the same performance against Chelsea last season for example. It wasn't the first time.
Ahd the haters talk a lot about his supposed attitude but never about Mourinho who threw him under the bus every week... weird... agenda ? Yep ;)

Not his best attacking game but deserves a lot of credit being our main ball winner today when Matic and Ander were missing. Really helped McTominay and Andreas out a lot with that

He also played a deep role at the world cup. Its definitely about his temperament and attitude but we know by now that he's probably not going to concentrate too hard on defensive work most of the time at United. So we need to concentrate on what he does bring. And if he never puts in a good defensive performance again, he'd still be our best player with his attacking play alone

Showed a different side to his game today, closed down the space and put in some important tackles. Kept it simple too, did what was asked of him.

That look he gave Sanchez after doing his job for him down the left flank is all of us.

Agreed..

When I saw McTominay and then Pereira come into midfield I thought Pogba will have to show more discipline to help his inexperienced team mates. He was absolutely brilliant in a different way today. He was never gonna be magnificent with the ball due to our injury problems and the way we setup to cede possession and hit them on the break.

Had he been in the Liverpool midfield today with all that possession, they would've won 3-0 IMO.

Very good. He did well defensively and his touch, awareness and passing was class.

Felt he could have done better three or four times when we were in good positions.

Liverpool did well to attack down the right, causing Pogba to track back more than usual and consequently becoming too exhausted to attack properly.

Yeah, let's conveniently forget how Pogba basically played CB for Jose against Newcastle which saved his job and ran up and down the pitch for a manager he didn't fancy.

This led to Jose stating Pogba could play as a CB because of how good he was in that game

Pogba can definitely play deeper as he has shown today but it needs to be the exception rather than the rule, something ole understands and Jose failed to do.

Fought hard and played well in parts but still has "stupid pass syndrome". So many times he fails to make a simple pass when up around the box. Situations where he should be creating a chance, turn to nothing..

Pogba did the same under Mourinho many many times. Overall he's been our best outfield player in the two and a half years since he joined us, even though he generally hasn't been at his best. But shock horror, after years of a manager blatantly mis-managing our players (to a lesser extent the first 18 months, but there were still signs) they are frustrated and unhappy, which in turn leads to inconsistency.

Is Gary Neville still taking digs at him? Someone mentioned Neville saying he is just playing well to engineer a move away.

The lad can't win can he!
Play poorly - not happy, obvs wants a move.
Play well - obvs doing it for a move away

It was weird. Making up hypotheticals to criticise him. You can trust him because he might want to move in a year or two.

Very mature performance today, he led the younger, inexperienced players well.

Glad he's getting the plaudits he deserves. Stepped up his defensive side when we lost Herrera, and ran a marathon for the team.

Great defensive effort today but had little impact on the play going forward.

Doesn’t know where to stand or run and looks a bit lost at times.

Delighted with the effort he made today though just wish we could find a position that he knows how to play.

Guy was a machine. Will likely go under the radar because there nothing flashy about his performance but he was everywhere today.

There was a block he made down the touchline which was world class. His lunge which he adjusted midway to extend further was almost beyond human.
