I dunno what game he was watching.

It's quite simple. OGS understands who the threats are and how his insane talent papers over an creatively unbalanced side. You'd be at a loss in under 20 secs in a team video tactics analysis.

When you use troll buzz words, you're a troll.

They completely shut him down. I can't be too critical. Our improvement has to come as a team.

This is why we need a player like eriksen at the moment than a 19 year old kid like Sancho even though he might be great talent( in my view he is not ready to step up and take us to next level.)

We are a one man team creative wise as even matic sides passing sideways when pressed. I would totally put everything in for him and play him in lingard position and also get a replacement for matic.
A player like Sancho would have had us be more dangerous on the break, and they wouldn't have been so carefree in pushing forward knowing there is a wide threat in Sancho. Also, his technical skill would have helped in retaining possession (beating the press).

Given the prices, we have to prioritize the sequence, and he should be second on the agenda to someone like erikson for this summer is what was my point.

Tuhel did a brilliant job of scouting us and setting the tactic in order to shut him down. Props to PSG players for executing their plan almost perfectly.

He shouldn't have allowed himself to get sent off, that was a dumb move fueled in part by his own frustration and in part with the bad pass from Shaw.

Despite being man marked, was still involved in our few bright sparks through the game. They did a good tactical job on him but he wasn't as bad as everyone is making out.

Ironic how so many United fans were spitting bile at Shelvey for more or less doing the same thing. I don’t think there’s any malice in it but it looks terrible if you get the timing wrong.

Totally different. Shelvey went straight through the back. The ball was nowhere.

Offered absolutely nothing tonight. Then gets a silly red for his immature behaviour.

It’s not immature behaviour. It’s trying to step across the man to protect the ball. He’s got long legs and it’s a clear flaw in his game as he’s caught a couple of players high now, but it’s not immature.

He really needs to stop trying to "protect the ball" by stepping over it. It's asking for trouble. He should have gone off a few weeks ago for a similar incident.

Yeh, I've seen him do this time and time again, when it works it's great but it is a massive risk doing it. He did it the other week like you say and there was a big debate about it on sky sports. Jamie redknapp was sensible by saying it isn't deliberate while pogbas biggest fan Souness who was saying clearly deliberate.

I've acknowledged he has played well since ole came in. Just kinda funny that he is the only player I know who gets people on here saying it's other players fault when he has a stinker.
People do that for Martial much more often I would say.

Very disappointing performance, particularly as he has been so good lately. Gave the ball away for the second goal, made no attempt to track back to recover it (he wouldn’t have got there but should have tried), was marked out of the game and stupidly got himself sent off. I get the point the he got extra attention from PSG but if he was the superstar some here believe him to be then this should not be a problem.

He wasn't bad... our whole midfield were outplayed. They stifled his game really, really well. Sometimes we should not always look for scapegoats. Verrati and Marquinhos are top, top quality... alongside a solid tactical performance, of course it's going to be tough for him.

He cannot do everything, and he is so very much our creative heartbeat, our talisman.

Pogba needs his front three to be reponsible, and show leadership, independent of Paul Pogba. This is why Ibra was such a figure in our team... he carried that 'I am that fantastic forward at Man Utd' mantle with ease. Like Rooney, Ronaldo, RVP, RVN etc...

We lack this prescence at the moment. Our front three receive plenty of plaudits, deservedly so most of the time. But now they have, just have to step up.

Am i though? He didn't play up to scratch, was man marked out the game by Marquinhos because Tuchel knew when you stop Pogba, you stop United. The other two central midfielders aren't going to hurt you as was evidenced in the game when Matic and Herrera couldn't produce anything in an attacking sense. Then we have detractors on here who quite evidently have it in for him (for whatever personal subjective reason) and jump on any chance they get to want him to leave after a bad performance, these same detractors go missing when he plays well for a while. I'm merely just calling it out and others in this thread also are. I mean i really don't see where the blabbing is or what i've missed. This is my last post for the day so i won't be able to respond but frankly i don't expect you to come up with anything coherent or logical in response other than some subjective irrational personal hate you have for the guy
Where do you see anyone saying they want him to leave?

They did to him what Ander Herrera was doing to Hazard. Sucks when you only have one creative threat

Said this a few days back. Without Pogba, we're a nothing team. He was the reason we finished so far behind City last season, too. Yesterdays game simply highlights just how good he is.

Tried his best but they basically double teamed him. If he beat the first man the 2nd was close by to help.

We know when Pogba gets into his stride he's hard to stop, but they never let him get going especially in the 2nd half after they got the goal.

the 2nd yellow was very unfortunate, it wasn't on purpose but he did catch him. Anyway the tie is dead now so letting him rest before Liverpool is probably the ideal situation.

Good analysis. You could say our forwards are a little bit fair-weather in their approach, only really Rashford guts it out when needed but even he goes missing from time to time.

A lot of that mentality could come from the previous two managers, too, who would pick up on every little mistake and criticise. Hopefully they can move on with more confidence and backing from the coaches.

Pogba can't be expected to be 9/10 every week, so when he isn't we need others to step up. Something we always had under SAF is a handful of difference makers.

He alwyas does that “ turning over the ball, to shield it” movement, which is fine if he gets there first, but if he doesn’t it looks high and reckless.

He’s still our best player so far this season, so I’m sure he will be fine against Chelsea etc, just needs to cut out the throwing his foot high into tackles because opponents will play off it looking to get him booked.

Well worth his red card. Thought he was good in the first half and alrightish in the second. Much like our whole team, he fell apart after we lost our pace.

I dont think its deliberate but it's still a red every time.

It's really just incorrect technique that hasn't been rectified. You cant just raise your studs or throw a leg out to protect the ball. You do that by actually getting your body on the way.

His way despite having no malicious intend is pretty dangerous and essentially dirty play.

If he keeps doing it he'll keep getting sent off for it. Especially as opponents become more aware off it.

Watching it again, the second was a yellow card. It was unlucky in terms of late, but Pogba needs to be careful in terms of how he puts his foot over the ball to shield it from opposition because if hes late (mistimes it) then theres every chance he will catch the opponent. Yellow is correct.

When it was obvious first half, Marquinos was doing a job on him, im surprised we didnt tell Pogba to drift out wide to create space for somebody else to come inside (say Martial).

Easier said in hindsight of course.

Does it make you feel hard writing that whilst hiding behind your computer screen?
Mug.
No. Does it annoy you that Solskjaer’s view of Pogba’s performance is completely different to yours so the only thing you can do is declare that he’s talking shit?

The way to stop your best player getting taken out of the game so easily is to have more players on that level.

Martial is quite easy to take out of a game so long as they have their wits about them in case he gets tricky.
Lingard is obviously nowhere near that level, although to be fair can be good at pulling defences.

We had one route to go down and that was our weakest side vs their weaker side. The only time we threatened was when Paul took the initiative and turboed through there.

That sequence of play for the 2nd yellow, it’s a yellow, due to him just mistiming it going for the shield but going for that shield. I don’t know if anything would have come from it but Shaw has laid that ball off a little short but has then moved forward expecting the pass it just seems to me that Pogba can get a toe on that ball to send it in the direction of Shaw’s run taking out 3 PSG players but he’s opted to try and shield it and unfortunately caught the player.

I mean the margins are tiny a split second earlier maybe he sends Shaw away split second late he does Alves. If the ref hadn’t been so loose with the yellows earlier it wouldn’t be a problem and a deserved yellow but just the inconsistency of the ref was awful.

I'm watching Modric currently against Ajax and he's been woeful. Ajax have completely dominated and should be at least 2-0 up. I guess he won't be scrutinised as much as Pogba though..

The proofs we stopped passing him the ball whenever a white shirt was near him. He should have dropped deeper like he did against spurs and Leicester when they man marked him whichever gives his marker a dilemma if to follow him or not.

Flat track bully , bullying farmers when he wasn't down tools , but went missing against world class player. Has always been like that. Just check his UCL final performance against Barca

The point you're trying to make could have had some weight behind it, but you delivered it with the charm and cogency reminiscent that of a raving twitter loon.

Do we think Chelsea might try to man mark him too? :nervous:

Of course, with Kante.

Mourinho telling him to play deeper because He knows Pogba isn't agile enough to break free from his marker , playing up front means there would be more players watching your moves , it might works against small team but not against very organized team. Not just Mourinho , Deschamps also told him the same , both are winners.
Edit : He isn't agile. Agile is Griezman, peak mata , isco ,thiago etc These players keep moving around finding space to lose their marker. Being agile isn't the same by being pacy. Pogba is only fast when he had a space to run in.

I think that this is something Pogba can work on and learn. He seems to be more motivated to learn this role than to be a more complete player, playing a bit deeper. I wish he would realise this sooner rather than later, but if he doesn't he will probably learn to deal with these issues. He isn't agile? That is just wrong. He can learn to deal with obstacles like every young talented player. You saying he is just this, or has always been just that, is pathetic.

He actually played well in in this game. Shouldve been awarded clear penalty by the ref (fouled by Alves ironically )but ulimately Barcelona was too good and ran the game even with Pirlo and Vidal in the midfield.

True except we don't have one creative threat but a few and they were all market out of the game. We need the base i.e CM and defense to improve their quality on the ball. It'll make it harder for teams to sit on our attacking threats knowing that the midfield and defense can't bring the ball out. the
