Just for the record, in an inteview, Raymond Domenec (worst coach in the history of our national team) asked Deschamps "how did you manage to make such a selfish player play for the team?". Deschamps answered that it was the image that Pogba had but that he wasn't like that at all and the only thing he wanted was to win the WC.

But then again though, I guess there's a lot of people here who know Pogba better than Deschamps...

Pogba isn’t selfish, he indulges himself a bit and overplays when he could keep it simple at times but that’s about it.

He likes to feel the ball at his feet. If he doesn’t get enough touches, he tends to not want to pass when he eventually gets the ball.

By now we know that if he doesn't have an open pass he'll hang on to the ball for some time which can have dire consequences. If his teammates are in space he does play in the right tempo. All of this isn't particularly surprising as that's how Zidane used to play except he used to get away with it most of the time.

Always releasing the ball quickly is not necessarily a good thing. For example:

(0:13)
If he quickly passed to the keeper they might have been able to clear, but by inviting the pressure, he beat the team's press after he turned and set his team directly on attack.
(also at 0:34)

The question is if Pogba has the skill to make the risk worth it. I think it's worked a bit even during Jose's time - he wold invite a challenge, get past it, and then pass, reducing the job for the players ahead. But he would also lose the ball a lot.

If a manager wants to forbid it, then it's upto the manager to make sure the player has good passing options, so that an atack can be built that way instead.

Having watched the game against Reading the other day, we really struggle with creativity when Pogba is not playing. Need to have a back up option.

Agree. For now I would play Herrera and Matic with Mata as a number 10 if he is injured. Until we can adequately get a new midfielder to compete

This is true, he's our best player alongside DDG, but Herrera and Matic were also missing which didn't help things.

I hear Herrera's contract is up soon and he may want to go back go Spain, and Matic will need replacing at some point too. We need to being in midfielders who will compliment Pogba so that he can be at his creative best.

Pretty sure that’s not even his dog. He doesn't have one.

Well the problem now is Paul better have a great performance vs Spurs. Better if his brother kept quiet.

The stupid expectations in full flow again. Team sport ffs.

He is coming off the back of an injury too. No player performs every game. If the team as a whole pays shit there is not much any one player can do. Simple Facts.

Or commenting on how the media will react in light of his brothers comments :wenger:
Also I don't think its stupid to expect your best player to turn up in the biggest games.
You will likely find I am one of Pogbas biggest supporters on here, however the comments from his brother here are just not necessary and not good for the club. Jose cannot be blaimed he is no longer here.

Well, his brother's comments got nothing to do with him although they have already been proved right. Hasn't put a foot wrong in 4 games post Jose. If he and the team are poor versus Spurs the criticism will be unjust as well even the best players in the league aren't world class every game.

Salah plenty of games this season, Same with Hazard and Sterling. Ups and downs. People talk like if he doesn't perform versus Spurs it proves Jose right. ABsolute nonsense. Then they throw out the not performing in big games argument and to that I say go back and review our big gamers last season where he contributed goals and assists in more games than not and without him we would not have got second.

Our best outfield player. Always has been just judged on a different level along with the fact we have been a bad team for years.

I think you miss the point as a poor individual performance from him in the context of what was said can be used to set a different context in the media.
We don't need that media circus. One thing that has happened since Jose left was that everything has been good vibes.

Anyway I'm just disappointed in his brother because it would have been better to wait till the end of the season to speak (or just not speak at all) 4 games against poor opposition isn't enough to come out and say see I told you, because he also had those games under Jose.

True. His brother talking does add pressure that is not needed. My only thing is it all needs to be taken in context come the end of the season. Spurs are a very good team and there is not a single player in the premier league that has a great game versus them every time. So in the case of a loss and a poor performance that won't prove anything either.

Just like how Kane has been shite versus us as much as he has been great versus us.

We don't disagree there but we know thats not what will happen after Spurs if he has a poor game, the media will have a field day now due to his brothers comments

I reckon they would have a field day either way tbh. Although it will likely be amplified because of his brothers comments.

Again though for me it all comes down to how he is judged differently. Imagine he had the season Kante is having right now. Would never live it down. People were also quick to forget he saved Jose job a few times too.

Anyway, hopefully, we win. That is all that really matters. Reckon our defense will be our undoing though. Jones versus Spurs has always been a death trap.

Never got the obsession with Pogba's dancing. Him and Lingard Milly rocking at the emirates was one of the highlights of last season for me. Pogba is good at dancing, and I would welcome players that are good at it to incorporate it into their celebrations.

Griezmann's celebration on the other hand...

Love it. I also like how he's very obviously thinking "I must stay cool, I'm on camera, this will look amazing!".
