De Gea is the GK and isnt relevant in the context (he doesnt influence the play of the team)

Ibra is no longer world class. He was at his prime, and still a very good player, but he is past it and wouldnt start in any of the elite clubs.
He was having a bad season by his own standards yet still managed close to 30 goals. Still world class in my book.

Without him in the team we struggle to move the ball in and from midfield to attack. We almost become Van Gaal like with our play without Pogba.
A solid performance yesterday, also feel like he'll score a couple of worldies before the end of the season.

I agree but a pivot could work with a superior partner. Pogba-Fellaini was a joke
It's different requirements for different games. Works against a side that doesn't outnumber your in midfield, or where there's space for him to drop between the CB's and play long passes to build play. But I wouldn't play Pogba in a midfield two for a game against City, or Spurs, or in a big European tie. Pretty sure Mourinho feels this way too, he's a pragmatist at heart.

He has had a great season, but that does not make him world class. Nobody will be breaking the bank to sign Zlatan.

A world class player is the type of player that is a guaranteed starter in at least one of the elite teams across europe, which usually requires you are at least top 10, usually top 5, in your position.

He quite easily is top 10 and probably top 5 in his position though. Just because another team wouldn't break the bank to sign him has nothing to do with his talent level.

His best game in a Utd shirt for me. Head and shoulders above everyone else. It's the first time I have seen what all of the fuss is about. He needs to maintain that high standard though, and impose himself week in and week out

Just quick list of 5+ strikers (not in any order) currently better than Ibra: Higuain, Cavani, Lewandoski, Aubameyang, Suarez, Messi, Neymar, Costa, CR7, Aguero, Kane, and Sanchez,

I find it amazing that anyone can watch him and see him as anything other than an exceptional talent. If we get a better player than him in the next few years then we'll be UCL contenders. Taking age into account, Hazard is the only player in the league I'd take ahead of him and even that's debatable.

Messi is not a striker, neymar is not a striker, cr7 too. Then there is Cavani and Higuain

I think Pogba has had a very good season and I am really excited about next season. I really think having settled at the club and with 1-2 better players he can have a crazy good season

I think they are more reliable strikers over the entire course of a season nowadays, better movement and better conversion rates, but I wouldnt bet on them to produce in finals nowadays. However draws like Stoke, Burnley wouldnt really happen. Especially Higuain is too clinical.

Cavani, Aubameyang, Kane and Higuain are not better than Ibra. Neymar, CR, Messi, Sanchez are different types. I would say that only Lewandowski, Suarez, Costa, Aguerro in this order are the only better pure strikers than Ibra currently.

I've been critical of him for parts of the season, but he was great yesterday. I just think that with a better midfielder than Fellaini, our midfield will be terrific. Herrera is very good, even great, and Pogba can be world class. When Carrick played well, our midfield was pretty great, but he has been below par lately. With a new midfielder who can shield the defense, allowing Herrera to play further forward in tandem with Pogba, I think we can be pretty darn good!

He bossed it, even with inept Fellaini at his side.
Great performance.

He's been doing what he did yesterday all season, the only difference being Celta weren't good enough to be able to tackle him. He also needs attackers making runs in front of him which the front three did very well. A proper third midfielder beside him and Herrera could transform our team.

Your list consists of prolific goal scorers, but that don't make them strikers.
They are all strikers/forwards and each has even played as a center forward consistently at some point for their clubs and/or country.

- Ibra was sold from Barcelona cos Messi replaced him as the center forward
- Ronaldo was the CF for portugal at the Euros and has played a similar role at Madrid often enough.
- Neymar has played as both SS and CF for the Brazil NT

Anymore excuses?

I feel it was a game suited to him. Like Jose said in his post-match interview, Celta played man to man. This allowed Pogba's strength and dribbling ability to come to the fore. I think people are hyping him based on one game, just like they hyped Rashford after Chelsea; Rashford wouldn't have been as effective against a team that sat deep as he was against the high line of Chelsea.

Great video. The next 'football brain' myth that I think should be laid to rest is that he's always looking for flashy but ineffective moves instead of the simple pass, slowing down the game that way. In truth, his game is 80% about intelligent, well executed, quick short passing that is crucial for United's ball circulation. If he's supposed to be brilliant on top of that, he has to try stuff that's a bit more risky, won't work every time, but leads to a highlight reel like this when it does. Complete footballer for me.

Pogba with two other midfielders is far superior to midfield two Pogba.
Pogba's problem is players running behind him. If we're playing against a team that sits back at OT, there's no reason he can't play in a midfield two. That way he has the whole game in front of him. It's probably better like that because it means we can have another player in forward areas.

He's emerging from a first season adjustment from Italian football to the PL. He's looking more comfortable and assured which is just bloody brilliant for the future. He's a powerful fecker isn't he!?

Next season the average neutral fan will take notice too, I suspect.

Great last night, with his physical attributes and technical prowess he'd be amazing player in a team that plays direct, attacking, possession based football.

Wow great video. I know people say you can make a YouTube video of anyone, but he has only been here a season and this video shows plenty of opportunities (many wasted). Hard to argue with the quality of these. His decision making will only get better over time as well and his shooting will get more accurate hopefully. I mean we are talking a bars width difference most of the time!

Should serve as a warning that next season we need another option in midfield to compensate for Pogba when he's missing.

Without him that central area is bang average.

So frustrating how most of those great passes were met with poor first touches/finishes. Story of our season.

If he can gain consistency and start pulling the club out of it's current state then everybody will appreciate him a lot more. Right now he has had an ok season, nothing more than that and nowhere near some of the other performers in the league. Next year will be a huge season for him and will probably define him as a Utd player.

You've probably seen him in "big" matches and that's why have come to this conclusion. The reality is this that he's been much, much better than you suggest.

This.

WhoScored got him in second place behind Hazard in the PL for this season. Those numbers aren't all, but they give a pretty damn good indication.
