What on earth is his role tonight?

I've been critical of him but ffs, give him a break. It's an awful game and the ball has been in the air half the time.

Did nothing of note in this game but like all our players I can't really judge them when they're playing on a pitch like that. Absolutely disgraceful playing ground for a tournament like this.

He NEEDS to turn up on Monday.

Very average recently. Needs to be taken out of the firing line. Unfortunately, he won't.

Very poor tonight, he will be immense for us in the long run but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if he was taken out of the starting line up for a couple of games.

Technical players should look that much better on a rough pitch, but he has just looked all over the place in terms of positioning, technical abilities, passing and defending.

He'll get slagged off because he's Pogba but really not sure what people were expecting tonight. A dreadful game.

He's so out of form. Needs a rest I think.

He's out of form, simple as that. Long term his quality will shine through.

I haven't been critical of him at all this season, but there were lot of games like tonight when everyone was bad but somehow he managed to be one of the worst, if not the worst.

He has potential, but I think he's never going to be a £90m player even when he hits his peak. How long until we start admitting to ourselves we overpayed by a very, very large sum.

There was absolutely no flow to the game and he almost played as a right midfielder on the worst pitch United will see. There are some very harsh posts after this game.

Shit, just shit from him tonight. It's the gods honest truth that that is the first time I have criticised him this season, but god he was atrocious

Anonymous today. Out of form. Needs rest/be benched for a couple of games.

People forget he had a very long last season with playing almost every game for Juve + Euro 2016 on top of that with little rest after with a long transfer saga and a new club.

He needs rest and hopefully he could get that in the summer. I doubt we will see anything close to the best of him before next season.

He'll get a pass like everyone else given the pitch but to me he did stand out as being particularly awful.

I thought given his stature he'd be like Fellaini and cope better.

Probably his worst performance. He's not the guy to count on when the going gets tough at all. He's got a lot to learn and needs to step up.

he can be as influential as Liam Miller at times.....

Paul needs to show more, pick his passes better - I'll give him a bit of a break due to that pitch and the rugby style tactics because of the surface

He has some terrible balance doesn't he? Always seems to be falling over or on the verge of falling over. Anyway, not sure what has happened to him the last month and a bit. Ever since he dyed his hair for that liverpool game, he's been pretty shit for the most part. Some decent performances here and there but mostly shit, after having a run of like 2-3 months where he was brilliant. Needs to get back to that if we want to finish the season successfully.

He should hve been hooked today. Based on his performance, the pitch not suited for him, to protect him from potential injury in such a game, and to give him a much needed eest.

I think he needs more structure to his game and some intense coaching. He's not yet at the level where he can have a 'free role' (whatever the hell that is). I remember an interview where he said that Mourinho gave him permission for this 'free role', and I thought that is absolutely the wrong thing for him as he's got no discipline and his decision making is still not up to scratch.

He (along with quite a number of our players), needs to watch a compilation of all his mistakes and then go out and work on putting it right.

I've really warmed to him though and he's got loads of potential, so I'm hopeful he'll come good.

He should have been booked for his performance alone.

I've noticed this as well, which is so weird considering he's a top athlete.

Yet another game passes him by ...

Still don't know what he is meant to do.

Certainly does not do what it says on the tin.

I feel like his balance is inconsistent. At times when there's two blokes on him trying to bring him down and he looks so strong, unmovable really, and he still has the ball under his control. Yet, at other times he just seems to fall over himself. Especially around the six yard box when he's trying to take a shot.

I can't figure out what he does at all. Just seems to jog around aimlessly.

doesn't even do that. As someone pointed out in the game thread, he run around with that 'arse crack jean's' limp so he can look dabba dabba cool.
