In fairness it was extremely difficult for him (and everyone) out there today. Liverpool were all over us the second we had the ball. Nearly impossible to play particularly well when you don't have any space or time on the ball, which is why pretty much all our players were bad.

The handball was so hard to understand. He seemed to be trying to head the ball. Only to block the ball from reaching his own head. One of the strangest I've ever seen. It did kind of look accidental. Even though the ref had to give it.

It was bizarre but it all started from him losing the track of his runner and hence mistiming the jump to head the ball.

I think these types of mistakes can happen with anyone but I'm more disappointed with his reaction after that, there was no tactical awareness or intelligence in his game. Looked unaware of the number of opposition players around him when he kept trying to go past a sea of players. Hope Mourinho sorts him out because these sort of games will happen at a later stage and he needs to not dwell on his mistakes for long.

I am young. I will learn. :D

For a emotionally charged drama queen that was actually a nice riposte. In all seriousness, though, have a drink and/or smoke (if your Mum will let you;)) Pogba is going to be fecking great in my opinion, but we've all got time on our side to see how that turns out.

That's when you can show the world that you are a top player. Not by dying your hair. Not by your shoes. Not by ads.

First do something special for our team and then expect our love. I cannot understand those people who love players who have done absolutely nothing for us (yet).

This was his worst performance in a United shirt. Every one can have an off-day but he sure chooses his ones poorly. The whole world was watching, and now we'll have to hear another 3 months worth of 'United overspent on a shit Pogba'!

Anyway, can't wait for one of those big games where he comes out and shows his class. I think it took him 2-3 months of settling down at United to start dominating games. It will take him 10-12 big games to get comfortable in that position and he'll start performing better!

Just wondering how long we might have to wait - up to now, big games played 4, PP's performence rubbish 4.

I'm sure there's a good footballer in there somewhere, but 'great' footballers are usually 'great' because they turn up when it counts most.

I hope you are right, man. Obviously, our team has invested a lot on this guy. If he doesn't deliver, we are fecked.

It's one fecking game. It happens to everyone.

He was poor today. And deserves the criticism
Absolutely, but context is needed, it doesn't make him a poor player which seems to be what some are posting, he's still top draw just wasn't at the races today.

Needs to understand he is an important part of the puzzle tho and not a luxury player

It's what separates the good from the great players. The great ones show up for the big games.

Having said that, he's got the character to bounce back but I am still greatly disappointed in him. I expected him to be the difference today. :(

So a hair dye is a worse offense than a hair transplant?

Yes he'll learn from it and do better but no harm in admitting he was once again horrendous in a big game. We really need him to begin to turn up in these games sooner rather than later.

I think Mourinho needs to have word with him in private, he needs to focus and not get distracted by his other obligations. It's great that he's so marketable but I think part of him is trying to live up to the hype around him, I think it was Zlatan who said Pogba just needs to play his game and not try to impress or do flashy stuff all the time. I hope Pogba reflects after this game and moves on from it. Today was his worst performance since he joined us and I hope that it's only better from here on out. At 23 I think he will become more comfortable in the big games, but he should just stick to what he does well, keep it simple and then show what he can do when the game opens up.

He was poor today, but jesus some of the criticism.. The lad is world class and he'll be back in no time.

All the talk of him being "distracted" by social media is horseshit tbh. Typical lazy armchair criticism.

He had a bad game. He is allowed, he's not a machine.

Give him a break. He'll reflect, learn and bounce back.

Yeah Ronaldo, Messi etc. have shown up for every big game their entire careers...

.. right?

He'll be fine. He'll learn from this. As a midfielder he's still young, and I don't expect him to reach his peak until a couple of years.

Pogba had a shocker but putting him as a marker to Lovren was stupid. He might have the inches but he's a 23 year old AM. He's not an expert in marking players

Yes, and great footballers also have stinkers in big games, but people only remember the ones they did well. Unfortunately, when they do have a stinker, their team ends up losing. Ronaldo had many stinkers in big games for us - to the point that pundits regularly called him a bottler (as he wanted to do too much himself ). Those stinkers equally contributed to get him to his current level. Every time he had a stinker, he went back and trained harder. I think SAF also mentioned something about that attitude of Ronaldo in his autobiography.

Edit: And by no means did Pogba have a stinker in the Spurs or Liverpool (away) game. So at best, 4 played, 2 stinkers, 2 average.

Basically because of his height. Lovren is very strong in the air and was beating Zlatan frequently in the match. By being in front of him he could at least block the pass. Really no choice imo given that Zlatan is marking the near post zone.

What about the new Edwards and the Argentinian Baresi. The ones who kept the magnificent world class goal machine Rondon out of the match? Couldn't they mark Lovren? If a 6ft5 striker who played in Spain, Italy and France found Lovren tough to mark then what are the chances for a young 23 year old 6ft3 attacking midfielder to do that?

I'd hope so and like to think so, but it's way, way too early to start thinking that PP will EVER reach CR7's levels....

Edited to add - agree it's 2 absolute stinkers but I'd say 2 poor performances, not average performances....

I'm not saying he will or wont. Only point is, he is 23 years of age and already has the performances (at Juventus) and the skills to be one of the top players. I just think that today's game will have given him something to think about and come back stronger in the coming weeks. Overall, so far, he's had a 7/10 season. He'll need to bring that up-to an 8/10 for us to get into the top 4.

I am not going to ever complain about Rooney. Even if Rooney scores three OWN goals in a game and hits our goalkeeper in the balls.

You know why?

Because I was constantly complaining about Rooney the first three years he was with us! The stupid guy (stupid then) was picking up fights with the refs and he was close to getting a red card every game!

That was when Rooney was 18 (not when he was 23)! Since then, he has delivered for us. Yes, he made a lot of money, but he has delivered! Unfortunately, we have had a lot of people who made a lot of money and only delivered shit...

He just had a bad game. It doesn't mean he's not a "big game player" or whatever, it's just that today he was poor.

He was shite yes, but the kneejerk reactions in here...

Sell him? Jesus Chirst. He has shown great promise of late, and saved our skins vs Boro, only 15 days ago. The handball was a silly mistake, but Liverpool did not give him an inch of space today.

Yes, he was shit, but i'm sure he will come back stronger from this

One of the worst performances I've seen from any United player ever, however the witch hunt from our own, is it necessary?

The guy has been brilliant during this unbeaten period. If he plays a blinder in the next two, you forget about today.

Great player, struggled under the pressure today. Will get better for sure.

At Juve he had Evra and I find it a real shame that Schneiderlin has left. He would pick him up and help him in midfield. Sometimes looked lost.

It will take some time before he bosses these games, but it will be as a builder from the back rather than as a creative force in support of a sole striker.

When you look at the languages spoken by our backbone :

- Jones/Rojo do not speak the same language
- Carrick/Herrera/Pogba do not speak the same language

Efficient communication is key in games where decision making spans are shortest.
Pogba speaks both English and Spanish. Herrera speaks well English. Communication is not an issue here.

You are allowed to complain, Pogba had a poor game. But complaining about his hair does detract from any legitimate point you might have. It makes it sound as if you have been bidding your time, waiting for the poor performance. It makes it look as if you have an agenda, particularly when your let others like Rooney off the hook because they delivered for us years ago.
