I generally agree with you. I'm content that our initial payment is 10m less than what they reportedly wanted, that's all.
Not really. If we sign Wirtz for 30m this summer we can say with some confidence that it’s a good deal. With an unknown quantity like this kid, we need to see more of him and at a higher level to gauge his qualities.
Feels like we pissed off someone at the visa office.
Some reports going around that his wages will be around £35k per/week increasing to around £50k at the end of his contract. In combination with an OK transfer fee, I'm very pleased with this deal/overall package. Hopefully it proves successfull, but if he flops it should be possible to fetch a decent resale-value from him.

Yeah that and the knock on effect of it allowing Dalot and Mazraoui to play in their more natural positions. The former can go RWB, the latter RCB.

Don't know anything about this lad , but what I have seen he like going forward now how fit he is to get up and back in the Premier league who knows, but I think if Amorin thinks he's ready he goes straight into the match day squad. Malacia will move now .

Pogba and Sancho were arguably the best young players in Europe when United bought them. I've stopped looking at fees in that way. You can get it wrong paying big money or paying a smaller fee.

One one hand I don't think seria a signings have exactly lit the PL up in the last decade. On the other Dorgu is young and has excellent physical attributes, sounds solid mentally and he's a natural for the role we want him for. We need someone who can beat a man, turn teams around and get us up the pitch and stretch the left side. I don't think it's a very complicated role just very physically demanding. He's versatile. It seems like a real Red Bull type signing. Hopefully with the same trajectory career wise as the best of the starlets they picked up over the years. Hopefully he can stay fit and keep improving at his current rate. Our scouting looks to be slowly improving so I'm optimistic. He's also one of the best LB wonderkids in the last FM so it's not only us who see potential there.

Of course the media are doing the trick, when it's United, of mostly quoting it in euros to maks it sound higher. But you're making it even higher in pounds!
It's fine to be both excited or cautious about new signings - whether you know them or not, as many a big name known signing has failed here in recent years. But it's wrong to try to sway the argument by exaggerating the fee paid to make it sound a worse deal.
I never once insinuated it was in pounds. Romano had a tweet saying 40m euros and I said he's not worth 40m.
European targets often have their fees quoted in euros.
If you can point out one post where I thought the price was £40m I'd understand. If not let's move on.

I'd say it was pretty disingenuous to just put 40m - when discussing an English clubs purchase - in response to the tweet that you distinguish yourself as being worded as 40m euros.
When there's a big price difference between the pounds and euros figures, then quoting the high one without putting that it's euros - so much cheaper in pounds - was done, I suspect, to make the fee sound higher as you're against the signing / fee paid and so it adds to the point you're making more than saying 'he's not worth 25-30m.'
But you'll disagree with that, and I'm not bothered about taking part in a lengthy battle over a bit of sneaky wording in a post. I've pointed it out, you've disagreed with it. We'll move on as you say.

My point is more that we are buying when his interest is at its peak, rather than having a longer term plan to negotiate, sign at an optimal time.

Its not disingenuous at all. Club fees for European targets are quoted in euros. This is the norm. Moreover the discussion was following Romanos tweet where he made it clear it was in euros.
If people fail to stick with the commonly defaulted convention in euros and want to persist like it's early 2010s and everything is GBP, they can go for it. It's a them problem, happy to move on.
The only thing I will say without needing to get drawn out into a debate, is try not to suggest anything was "sneaky". You are accusing me of leading posters on when I've never done this. Transfers are quoted more often in euros than pounds.

There does seem to be a pattern where those not in favour of the signing quote the fee in euros and including add-ons, and those willing to give it the benefit of the doubt quoting the fee in pounds without add-ons. Funny that!

Anyway I don't want to discuss this further. Transfer done and he's flying here for a fee 10m EUR(!!) below that valuation, which is a lot more reasonable.
Both of them are not transferred in winter, and the cost would be higher when the club sell their player in the middle off season.
And we cannot wait summer windows because we need a available LWB right now..at least this guy is approved by our manager and the 3-4-3 can be functioned minimal

Not going to pretend I've seen anything other than recent clips but he's exactly the profile of player we should be targeting.
Good age, position we desperately need, athletic, hopefully ready to make the step up.

Bailly was an absolute headcase, I love watching him.
As long as he can play as a left back if we ever need to change back to four at the back, this should be a good buy.
Don't see him starting immediately, Amorim has been smart with how he uses youth (so far atleast). I think we'd see him getting cameos first, with Dalot/Maz still playing LWB. Any idea what languages he speaks? We don't really have any Italian speakers in the team.
If Amorim continues to develop us in the image of his Sporting team, then this should be a good fit. His wingbacks are aren't expected to be neat & tidy ball players. He needs them to keep really wide and drive into the outside left/right channels, pulling the opposition defence with him, and he needs them to keep pace with the team when it transitions from attack to defence. That certainly isnt happening with Maz and Dalot.

While true he was also miles better last season than Dorgu is (as a fullback). And the reason he hasnt played as much is an older right back is doing well as Fiorentina have moved up from an 8th placed finish to 6th currently. Lecce are 14th of course he would play there
