From what I have seen of Dorgu, he has a good personality and I am sure he will do his best at United. I do not understand this transfer, but I hope he turns out to be our left back for the next 10 years.

Had concerns with the transfer, but 30k a week 24m is looking better, fingers crossed he is a success because boy do we need him to be.
Is that his rumoured weekly wage? A welcome step in the right direction if so.
I have seen him play for Denmark and Lecce, and I see him as average and at the same level as Malacia. But I hope that it's just me who sees wrong.
I mean, one is 25 years old, about 5 foot 5 and slow and the other is 20, 6'2" and quick so potential is there even if technically a similar level.
Yeah, I'm not saying we overpaid or anything. I was just replying to a post suggesting we got him for below market value.

Kayode had a great debut season and fully took advantage of the minutes he got to showcase his physical and defensive attributes but most would agree that offensively he’s got a lot to work on and currently is reliant on those physical traits.
I’m sure Kayode would play at that level too, but it’s still not relevant when we consider the relative importance to their sides. Kayode was considered a fringe player this season, he’s a bit unfortunate there, whereas Dorgu was emerging as a key player.
It’s the only reason I’d say their situations are a bit different so I’d be wary of over emphasising that one fee is lower than the other.
After his injury, Malacia has struggled with the pace of the EPL. If you are referring to pre-injury Malacia, I can live with that as a good base.
Malacia has given us absolutely nothing going forward. Dorgu will be an improvement there, you would hope.
I agree 100% Dorgu is the exact kind of profile of player I want to see us sign.
Liverpool signed the likes of Gini (can't spell his surname) and Robertson from struggling and relegated clubs. It turnt out well for them, because they knew exactly what the manager needed to succeed.
I hope we can follow the same path.
This is the thing right, some fans on here dont know what they want.. we could sign a 60m LWB and moan that we are overpaying, will then say why cant we sign someone for 30m like other clubs do.

I feel like people who have seen him back then said pretty much the same things about Malacia. Good guy, will give his all, questionable if good enough (yet)
You have to factor in Malacias Injury and how much it has really set him back though
Oh yeah of course, but it's not like he was a worldbeater before the injury. Still a punt worth making I'd say, but people need to be careful with their expectations

You never really know, but I think his level is similar to Malacia when we signed him. Maybe a better fit without being a much better player
The things that make me feel better about this one relative to someone like Zirkzee where I've never watched them and it's that middle tier fee, is that Dorgu's name has repeatedly come up in analytic reports on Twitter as a "hidden gem" sort of player, while Zirkzee was always coming up as an average player in the data. So at least Dorgu has that backing of impressing in the metrics.
Lecce is not exactly in a financial position to refuse a 30M offer. Fair deal.
I agree - he is a different type, and he fits the new formation better. But I still see him as a player at the same level as Malacia.
Pool signed them at the right age . We are signing very young and inexperienced players but expect them to deliver from day 1.
Still a rough diamond, but hás a lot of potential. His physical attributes are actually a good fit for Premier league, he is strong and very fast.
I'm not a fan of Malacia at all, so that is incredibly disappointing. He'll have to improve massively.
just getting in one wing back should see a huge ripple effect. can see maz more at cb where he did so much better. Should allow as well for the attack to look better by having that proper support out wide

No idea what he’s like as a player but if he was Amorim’s choice then hopefully he’ll fit in. Not expecting him to transform the team but I’m looking forward to seeing if Amorim is on the money when it comes to getting new players in.

I mean we are signing him to come straight into the first team aren’t we? Just that we signed Amad for big money and he never came to start straight away, he went in the youth set up and then on a few loans.

I have a lot more trust in our scouts, recruitment, negotiators, etc now than I did a year ago. I'm not a scout and I doubt any posters on redcafe are either so I'm just going to back the lad and be optimistic he'll bed in well.

Agree, people too focused on the headline fee, when a transfer is fee + wages. His relatively low wages make this a pretty good deal.
