No, you fool. They spend well! Which we do not do. We want to be a better run football club who spend money that we as fans provide better than we have been. If its a world record fee or 100k it doesn't matter. It should all be considered and done with due diligence. We are just about the worst club in the world and certainly the PL when it comes to this for the last decade.
Besides football almost entirely works in a hierarchical structure. There are very few big transfers of star players between big clubs. You always shop at 'lesser' clubs. Just as Bayern do and Madrid do.
Madrid for one have become masters at signing players for free the penny pinching cheapskates. Rudiger, Mbappe, Camavinga and probably Trent soon enough.

He looks talented but also raw based on the clips. I can see the physical edge he appears to have in the clips making less of a difference in the PL at which point the development of his all round game is key.
On the profile of player, we have to accept our financial situation. I do feel we need sign 3-4 players of such a level that they make a transformative impact on the team but it also makes sense for that to be in other positions such as CF, AM, CM, GK etc So yeah, interested to see how this pans out but in the summer I think we need more immediately impressive signings.

I wish we would emulate Pep's method of building up the squad when he did at City (with a bit lesser money of course) - which was to buy first team and backup players for the same position at the same time to "fix" one position in the team at a time. I remember he bought lots of players at CB and full back levels and people were making fun of him.
I feel we did something similar when we got De Ligt, Yoro and Mazraoui in the same window - earlier we would have probably got 1 CB at a time and continue to face gaps. So I wish we get Dorgu in this window and get another 1 (or 2 depending on how Dalot is doing at RWB) again in the summer window. And then let them fight it out.

I would assume a right winger would always have more highlight moments than a left back. Your actions as a left back are mostly supporting roles and being consistent with your decision making, being in the right positions with your runs (overlap/underlaps) and then the defensive side.
Dorgu has also played far more as a LB than a right winger, but good to know he is versatile.
I think the United negotiating team have done pretty well on this deal (30+5m euros)

Look, it's pretty simple. With PSR we are not even allowed to spend more than our main competition (City, Pool, Arsenal, Chelsea). It's illegal essentially. So all this "back the manager"", "invest in the team!" stuff is a distraction. We're spending essentially as much as we're allowed to.
If everyone is spending the same, the team that spends most wisely will win long term. That's pretty much all there is to it. So overpays are a bad deal, pretty much always.

For what it's worth, unless Dorgu is VDB level, he's going to be an upgrade in LWB to basically anyone else we have. Shaw has gone AWOL, Dalot & Mazaroui are both much more natural in the right, Malacia is completely useless, Antony is gone and was never going to fit there and Amad/Garnacho will be wasted in that position. It's an area we need to desperately address, so spending 5-10m more for Dorgu is fine by me if he's been scouted & analyzed well enough. It's a fraction of the cost of the difference between finishing 8th and 15th in the league.

Not really, it just means we aren't profligate anymore. Big Tech in the US are shedding workforce - is that a sign they have no cash? No - they are just streamlining.
Not so sure about this. He looks very good there. We need to make a decision in the summer. Either sign someone like Quenda or keep Amad there permanently.

In January, fairly unique physical profile and can play LWB for £25m is a decent enough deal.
At least we finally will have a left footed LWB with the right profile for the role rather than shoehorning RBs there.

I would say it is mostly about what we want them to do. If we want Dorgu to be an attacking outlet from the left wing first and foremost, than it is probably not a bad player to get in. Big strong runner with decent top pace, hard to stop when he gets going, good left foot he can find team mates in the box with.
With Rasmus, it feels like we are currently asking the wrong things from him. Was he ever that good at dropping deeper and trap the ball with a 90kg rucksack on the back? His strengths seem quite similar to Dorgu when thinking about it.
Maybe Rasmus should be a wingback instead as well..

Dorgu can play multiple positions, has core ingredients to be a top player, and will not be as bad as Dalot or Mazraoui in that position. We paid much more for Yoro, not seeing many complaints there.
Who knew about Diallo when we signed him for £35m? Now no complaints. These type of signings bring down our wage structure not only now but in future, we have him on low enough wages that when it comes to contract renewal, it will still be a relatively cheap increase.
If Ruben wanted him, he fits what he wants to do, and I feel he will vastly improve in this system once he gets here. Can we just trust Ruben, with this and see?

Udogie and Kayode are the benchmarks at roughly 18m euros. So we are overpaying.

This is Dorgu's second season in Serie A. He's played as many games in Italy as Calafiori did. I'm not sure why these two players are being compared anyway. Calafiori was more expensive.
