Patrick Dorgu | Medical today? No. Weekend.

Guarantee if it was Bournemouth bidding they’d accept £10m. Woodward’s incompetence still lingers.

Before I moan I will recognise that we have signed a huge number of well regarded players who went on to do feck all.

However ,it's a little discouraging that very few people who know him (never seen him kick a ball in my life) seem particularly excited about him. Especially as it's such a vital position we need to address.

Bold move to move for a 20 year old with 1 season of first team football

Alvaro Carreras.
He’s no more further along the track than Dorgu. He’s better on the ball possibly but not as athletic and not as quick.

However, yes he’s cheaper. But I think we’d have done that deal already if we wanted him.

So, other suggestions?

Really? All stat tables supposedly nail him as a top young talent.

People were begging for United to sign him over Davies earlier in this thread. Where have they all gone?
What stat tables, the ones I've seen he is actually awful. Like really bad.

Scored a few goals which puts him high on that, but he's below average going forward and tragic defensively.

Alvaro Carreras.

We literally sold him a few months ago, which is a fair indication that he comes with quite a lot of question marks himself.

Not least of which is that for a team desperate to raise the level of physicality in the side, "technically accomplished but mediocre athlete" isn't exactly the ideal profile we want for wingback.

There's also the fact that by not signing him we stand to gain financially from a sell on fee in the future. Again, quite an important question mark to consider.

Exactly, the club already has a very good picture of him and his abilities/potential and chose to look elsewhere. Put 2+2 together...

Kyle Walker-Peters for less than ten million. He’s available on a free in the summer and saints are going down regardless. There’s a very good chance that Dorgu ends up no better than him for a lot more money.

If we spent money on him people would moan that we have Malacia and say we could have got him for nothing in the summer.

Dorgu is seemingly our top target. we should be going after the best players that we think are available. Walker-Peters would be another stop gap.

He’s a defender not a wingback. You’re not getting the profile Amorim wants for his wingbacks

Rather than than throwing random names, have a think about wingers, athletic, strong and pacey who can get up and down. That’s the profile they are looking for. They want to raise the athleticism and pace in the team.

I'd disagree. He has Champions League, Benfica and Championship experience, along with already been a part of this squad. He's a lot further along the track in terms of experience. He's better at taking players on than Dorgu, whilst registering a top speed of 33km so he's not even as slow as being made out. He's just a better, more compatible, footballer for half the price.
INEOS sold him.
Murtough loaned him out to Benfica with a buy clause in January, It wasn't INEOS.

He’s not a signing that raises the athletic bar. Hence why we haven’t already signed him.

Good post. But still, the fact we hear nothing in this direction makes me believe he's either not interested in a return, which would be fair enough, his clause isn't active yet or the Ineos guys still don't rate him

That was up to Murtough, why are you trying to pretend it was INEOS? Is Ratcliffe to blame then?
INEOS gained sporting control on Christmas Eve before he was sold. They made the final decision.

Murtough doesn't just do what he wants, he answers to them buddy.
