Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

Best player for us in the first half (that's not much of a compliment, but still!) and showed some good link-up with Amad. Some encouraging signs.

Annoying that we’ve signed him for the left and instantly put him on the right. Play players in there preferred positions. It isn’t hard
Has he been signed for the left? Do we know that for a fact? Maybe Amorim wanted him for the right wing. He certainly played on the right a lot for Lecce.

Looked good. Still had a few moments when his preference for his left foot caused him issues, not sure what that Amorim's decision was about.

We don't know shit but some LB expects on here know for a fact Amorim is wrong apparently.

If it means Dalot will continue on the left, ship out a LB on loan and have another one that can’t get fit, it is an incredibly dumb decision. If you have no intention to play Dorgu on the left sign a fecking LWB. We have sufficient cover on right for the time being. It’s like the club want to make it as difficult as possible at times.

I mean, I don't mean to suggest Amorim is right to play him on the right. I actually think playing inverted wing backs in this system is an absolutely braindead idea.

yay another player who will be played in the wrong position. cant wait to see more of it, with any luck he'll be whipping them in to our new number 9, casemiro, any week now

He probably did intend to play Dorgu on the left and then Martinez got injured and now it's panic stations at the back with Maz in the back 3 and Dalot going where he can do the least damage. I'm sure it will all work out, people need to calm down acting like Amorim put him in net today, the lad can play RWB.

Good introduction, was possibly our best player the first half. Agree with the consensus would have preferred him on the left with Garnacho ahead of him.

He has been playing on the right recently for Lecce hasn’t he? Maybe Amorim didn’t want to put too much on him straightaway. I don’t think it’s long term and expect us to recruit for the right in the summer with Quenda probably

Good half from him, especially as most of the team looked poor. But hopefully we got a LWB in him, at least for this season. Play Amad or Dalot at RWB.

Both Yoro and Maguire can play LCB so I think it’s a poor excuse. He likes to think he’s more intelligent than other managers. Football is a simple game and we keep finding managers who decide they don’t want to play it simple.

Only at this United are we crying out for a left back for 18 months, finally sign one, and then play him on the right and sub him at half time.

Thought he looked decent enough, even in a drab first half.

Him on the left to keep the balance with Amad on the right please moving forward.

That makes no sense. Why would Dalot do less damage on the left, rather than his actual position on the right.

Moronic decision to play him on the right but he did well all things considered. He will have to get used to the intensity of English football but he has the athleticism to succeed here.

Seeing how we’re so much more dangerous when we have players attacking the byline (exemplified with our first goal), then it’s beyond me why we’re not setting up our WB’s to actually do it. Amad is currently our only WB that does/excels at this.

It would surely get the better out of both Dorgu and even Dalot if we played them on their natural side.

Was hoping he'd play LWB but I really wasn't surprised to see him on the right - much more surprised how puzzled so many seem about it.

Amorim likes inverted WB's (at Sporting as well), whenever left-footed Amad has started WB it's been on the right, and Dorgu often played from the right, cutting in onto his left foot, at Lecce.

So really not a particularly surprising decision. But after so rarely having a left footed full back on the left with the lengthy injuries to Shaw and Malacia, I was hoping to see Dorgu on the left making driving runs forward. Hopefully we will sometimes, but we'll definitely also see him (and Amad) at RWB as well.

Thought he did OK in his first game - but tough to judge as the team were so awful in that first half that it wasn't a fair half to judge him on.

I didn’t see an issue with him playing on the right, he didn’t look uncomfortable and looked happy to use his right foot when required.

He's demonstrated some blistering pace, which is one of our most pressing needs, so just by virtue of being fast he'll offer more than Mazraoui or Dalot in that wing back position.

Played pretty well considering he'd been thrown in, hopefully that's a sign of things to come.

Well if he did then the guy shouldn’t be in charge of transfers anymore. We’re lacking a LWB so why would we sign someone for the right side where we have Dalot and Amad and Maz
