With injury to Martinez, surely Maz now goes back to CM, Dalot on right and Dorgu on left. I would not mind that. Maz has looked horrible at wingback position and Dalot has looked relatively better at RB.
What’s relegation got to do with anything? If the player has enough about him it doesn’t matter where he comes from. We bought Keane from relegated Forest, Liverpool bought Robertson from relegated Hull etc. it’s just nonsense to say things like that.He will be cover for Dalot currently surely? I don’t really rate Dalot, especially at LWB, but it would be pretty surprising if a 20 year old from a relegation threatened Italian team was immediately ahead of him.
Mods,
Let me put this here so that his salary wont be used against him when he plays poorly because he is a new young player.
He is on 40k a week.

I’d be very surprised if he doesn’t go straight in
Why? By the looks of things, Dorgu can actually play the position, which Dalot can’t.He will be cover for Dalot currently surely? I don’t really rate Dalot, especially at LWB, but it would be pretty surprising if a 20 year old from a relegation threatened Italian team was immediately ahead of him.
He may take time to settle, new country and he’s young.Keane was one of the very best in the league, despite Forest’s relegation. My recollection is that Robertson took half a season or so to establish himself as Liverpool’s first choice (despite having significant experience in the league).
The nonsense is expecting a 20 year old kid, with limited experience at a poor team in a slightly weaker league, to come in and be our immediate saviour. We made that mistake with Hojlund and with Zirkzee and Dorgu hasn’t even reached their level in Italy. I was expecting we’d have learnt some lessons and would ease him in more gently.
Fair points, but no need for the 'expecting him to be an immediate saviour' exaggeration. No one player is expected to be that, let alone a young WB.Keane was one of the very best in the league, despite Forest’s relegation. Ye but that’s when they had an actual ST. Assists comes from setting up your attackers but then it’s all about there finishing. So he’ll be lucky to get more than 2 assist.LWB in Amorim's Sporting had the most assists in the whole team, seemingly an important position in his system.
Yep sadly he has to hit the ground running from game 1 Dalot can't play another game at LWB.This poor lad is going to be expected by some people to have a Bruno Fernandes like impact on the rest of the season.
He will play well first game, then utterly shite in the following few and you'll all write him off by March.
I think Zirkzee scores about as many as his xG suggests he should and Hojlund scores more. Their finishing is okay/good (on the rare occasions we get to see it) it's their all round game that those two specifically let us down with.Ye but that’s when they had an actual ST. Is anyone actually expecting him to be a saviour, or is it more people are hoping it will offer a more balanced team?Keane was one of the very best in the league, despite Forest’s relegation. Jokes about him being a saviour aside, If he could just add some balance and put in some decent attacking and defensive displays then it should make a difference. I don’t think anyone is expecting a Bruno Fernandes signing. Is anyone actually expecting him to be a saviour, or is it more people are hoping it will offer a more balanced team?
But not you! What will you do?
Gyokeres didn't exactly tear it up before he got to Sporting.Ye but that’s when they had an actual ST. Assists comes from setting up your attackers but then it’s all about there finishing. So he’ll be lucky to get more than 2 assist.
But that wasn’t the talking point though. The guy said sporting LWB got the most assist. And i said that’s because they had someone who finished them of. It’s clear that the Wing backs should be getting tons of assist and even a few goals in this system. But we don’t have that type of player. And setting chances up is good but if they can’t get finished of then you ain’t getting the assist stats to your name.Gyokeres didn't exactly tear it up before he got to Sporting.
It's hard to be bullish on either Hojlund or Zirkzee but I'm hoping that with Dorgu in the side, that means we'll have one more player that has more of the mentality and ability to progress our play (instead of Mazraoui as a wing back), which might take some responsibility off our striker's shoulders to be involved in progression. Hojlund can get back to what he's better at which is running the channels and finishing chances (though whether he can learn how to make better runs in the box and link up with Dorgu/Amad/Mainoo/Garnacho is still to be seen). Zirkzee on the other hand doesn't seem to be as helped by Dorgu, unless he's the one holding up to allow the likes of Dorgu and Amad to ghost in from wing back. But that wasn’t the talking point though. I like this teamHope to see him get some minutes vs Leicester and into the starting XI against Spurs.
With a proper LWB, we can move Dalot back to RWB where he undoubtedly produces his best football. Maz back to CB for some build-up from the back...
Hoping this will be a catalyst. Dorgu doesn't even have to be great to change our style of play, he just needs to play his role.
At the start of the season, I'd have said this is a pretty decent lineup! Nowadays it's hard to tell who will show up

Why would we sign a LWB to play him on the right? Makes no sense. It allows us to play Dalot in his preferred position and maz at RCB where he’s been doing ok.Very excited by this signing. I think he plays straight away but I have a feeling it will be RWB rather than left, Amorim tends to go that way. I’m afraid Dalot is stinking the place on the left until the end of the season.

No one in the thread is expecting him to be a saviour. Having an actual left footed play who can play the position Amorim wants and needs will improve the team though.Keane was one of the very best in the league, despite Forest’s relegation. He isn’t exclusively a LWB, can play RWB and him and Amad on the same wing would theorically be very strong attacking wise (cutting inside to shot is more difficult on the left for a lefty + better for 1vs1), they can switch positions easily during the game. Dalot staying on the left allow Garnacho to go outside like he is more comfortable. Why would we sign a LWB to play him on the right? Makes no sense.
