Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

He is a monster physically, up and down with intensity all night, and that goes a long way in that position. A lot of work to do to refine his game but decent tools to start with.

I’m really disappointed with his on the ball skills so far to be fair. Passing is erratic, shooting is inaccurate and often weak… But his off the ball movement is exceptional, he was crucial for our win tonight. If he adds a bit of quality to that, he can become a very good player.

Also, fair play on that non-penalty incident.

As others have said — he’s big and quick. Similar to Heaven, we need more of these players as a baseline.

This is what some of us have been saying about having the right physical profile. His pace and power wrecked them tonight even if his final pass or technique wasn't the best. Shades of Antonio Valencia. We don't win this game without him.
He's not close to Valencia in terms of speed nor strength, yet, but he sure is a physical presence, which we sorely lacked.

I honestly love honesty in players, the fact he told the ref it wasn’t a pen put him way up in my estimation

He was instrumental in stretching the Sociedad defense today. So excited to watch his growth.

I like him. He’s very raw and I think there will probably be games where we are tearing our hair out, but at least we now have a reason for other teams to actually fear the attack from our left side.

Well done to him for saying that wasn't a penalty. Didn't look like it was the first time watching. Did the right thing.

Excellent performance as well. He bring a physicality that we've lacked for a while now.

I’m not sure I agree with the honesty point, if they’d scored immediately after I think it puts a different complexion on things!

Solid. But more importantly—he’s proof that with wingbacks we’ll look a different team.

I'm glad you have the qualifier yet in there. I agree but he's 20 and has time to grow into his man body.

Do feel like he was a very good system purchase. We lacked what he's brought to the team and it's very evident. Needs to improve elements of his play but he's young so it'll come.

That makes it even more brave, it would have been a lot easier to do that after the third goal.

Should've been overturned by VAR anyway. Even though you can obviously not trust that shitty system.

Good game despite not getting a good ball into the box or having a good attempt at goal from his several attempts. Things to work on for sure, but he was constantly a threat on the left and contributed by getting a penalty and his run in behind the defender who was sent off

He’s raw, and we’ll wait and see if he has the technical ability to truly become a mainstay. But we’ve had a lot of half arsed players in recent years and seeing someone with his levels of stamina, pace and power is incredibly refreshing. Lovely to see how much his running opened up space in that game.

Really like him, think he's going to be a top player eventually, gets forward like Evra used to, if he can improve his crossing and some decision making he'll have that position locked down. I also think having these six months to settle in before next season will benefit him greatly.

Don't get me wrong, the yet is a necessity for that sentence to work. Valencia was a beast though - one of the fastest ever players we've had. I don't see Dorgu being in that bracket, but he's built like he can rival Valencia for strength. That being said, core strength is much more important than big guns. Salah is impossibly strong, for instance.

He definitely needs to polish up his ball playing skills but just the way he plays that position is such a positive for us, taking up positions and making runs that none of the other options there come close to. If he can become more consistent once he gets himself into these positions then he could be very effective for us.

Don't want to be negative as he had a good game, but that's the sort of gesture you make at 3-0 up

Don't think the manager would be too impressed had Sociedad made it 2-2 after that.

Good energy. Needs to work on his passing and shooting a bit more, which i'm sure will happen given he's only 20.

The replay clearly showed it was not a pen. If anything, he's just saving time as VAR would have overturned the decision anyway. Wpuld love to see more of this in football, especially that VAR is here.

It’s sportsmanship and is to be commended. I’ll take that over shithousing whatever the score every day. Well done Pat!

As i said in the Amorim thread, he's very raw but you can see the benefits of having a player with his profile in this system. Constantly up and down the pitch, powerful and fast. It does make a difference.

20 years old in a new league in a struggling team, he is always going to make some mistakes early on. But their are far more positives than negatives, yes his passing and shooting can do with some work. But the energy he gives this team will be a massive positive to this Amorim system.
