Patrick Dorgu | 2024/25 Performances

Don’t agree with people saying he did well for telling the ref it’s not a pen. He shouldn’t be doing the refs job and it’s the ref incompetence that gave the pen not Dorgu. So he shouldn’t be getting involved.

I wonder if people would be praising him if it was at 1-1 or we were losing. We had some dubious pens given against us over the last few years and I have never seen an opposition player do that.

Bruno will have all the accolades but he was the true MOTM. He is absolutely relentless on that left wing, causing an absolute havoc all night ! They couldn’t handle him.

He is just 20. It’s scary.

I doubt the ref changed his mind based on what dorgu said. It was var that overturned it

I’m really disappointed with his on the ball skills so far to be fair. Passing is erratic, shooting is inaccurate and often weak… But his off the ball movement is exceptional, he was crucial for our win tonight. If he adds a bit of quality to that, he can become a very good player.

Also, fair play on that non-penalty incident.
Kinda agree, but we have been crying out for some athleticism and physicality for quite some time, so I'm happy with his introduction.

Oh, yeah, he’s been a very positive influence overall so far. You just wish that he’d be able to score/pass at an acceptable level after getting himself into all of those positions. His ball control is pretty good to be fair.

Very impressive athlete, feels like he can hare up and down the wing all game and that energy and pace combined with even average footballing skill can be enough to be effective and cause teams to fear him to an extent. If he improves on the ball, he will be a quality player.

He's far from the finished article, but the difference in our play when we have his physical attributes down the left hand side, and when we're playing with a right back over there is beyond stark. He can work on technical limitations and develop a better passing game - you can't develop what he has into players like Dalot or Mazraoui.

I don't even think Dorgu's that good yet. However, just having someone who is a natural in the role he's playing makes such a huge difference. We are not looking at Patrice Evra circa 2008, we may never be. Still, its a lot less painful and a lot more productive than watching Dalot huff and puff down the left.

Really impressive, he needs to work on shooting though. His technique he is passing the ball when he shoots. Needs to learn to put the laces through the ball.

I disagree with that sentiment. He chose his integrity and honesty and hats off to him. VAR would've overturned it anyways, so he gets the moral victory on top of it.

Imagine having a prime Evra for that wingback position? He would've been one of the best players in the world - one of my favourite ever United players.

I'm happy to allow for some technical deficiencies at this point if it means we have a player in the wing-back spot with exceptional athleticism who's able to make a menace of himself for the opposition full-back. We sorely lack that type of player whenever Shaw is injured, which at the moment is basically all the time.

Dennis Irwin, Patrice Evra, dare-I-say a fit Luke Shaw. All of a sudden our team would be transformed.

I don't see quite the same raw materials with Dorgu. But just being able to see someone go down the outside on their left foot and put crosses in is such a relief!

This guy is a demon physically. He’s very very raw but the timings of his runs is great and his profile is interesting.

With the ball he isn’t great, at all really. But if he can develop like, say a Dumfries, then he will be a fabulous wing back.

Agreed. That was naive. Don’t do that shit 2-1 up. At all.

A fit Shaw is such an anomaly, even more so than an injured Evra. Of the three, I think Evra would suit the wingback role the best. Quickest of the three, the best dribbler and the best ball carrier - I also think he was brilliant, maybe his best asset, at progressing the ball with quick bursts of acceleration and sharp short passing into space. Irwin I can't recall as much, other than he was always good...

Scary to think some fans were writing this kid off after a handful of games.

His best game so far tonight (albeit he had a lot of space to play with).

I think we saw a vision of how Ruben expects our wing-backs to play tonight, this performance was it.

His game understanding of when to go up or defending, is just astonishing for his age.

Damn. I really love this kid.

He could be a bit like Dumfries, not great technically but an incredible athlete and always dangerous in the final third.

I was only able to catch a few minutes of the game as I'm at work but the few minutes I saw it looked like he was finding good positions in space in the attacking third which is a massive positive with our general poor attacking play on the wings. I think regardless of his limitations he is going to make a massive difference to the team when he is playing.

A very good game tonight. Probably the best in a united shirt. People forget he’s only 20. He shows good potential, he needs to be refined and properly coached to reach his high potential

I think he'll be a beast next season with a full preseason in him.

He's over 6 ft also. Proper unit.

Reminds of Valencia a bit. Relentless.

based on that potential this lad could improve us immeasurably. Just to see his raw power, determination and natural left sided ability has gave me such hope for this system. Trust in Ruben

i think in an ideal world the ref gets it right after VAR, so by speeding the process along Dorgu's just ultimately doing the sport a favour (this is how it's seen in cricket)
I like cricket for this reason because (football) VAR will spend 10 minutes analysing an incident to death to the detriment of the sport, just so teams can get 5% of decisions go their way. By telling the truth Dorgu puts himself (and ergo our team) in a positive light which can only be good for us

Has he served his ban now or is it one game left?
