People are surprised by this? Really? It's happening in almost every game(players running behind his back, or winger giving him hard time), just not quite often as today, but it's nothing new really.

We well get Baines in a few days. Then Evra will be sold in the summer and a young LB brought in for the long term/cover for Baines.

Bollocks to this rest nonsense, it's an excuse. He needs replacing permanently. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave for Monaco in January.

Good 2nd half. Awful 1st half. No idea why Moyes thinks Evra is fit enough to play match after match.

I reckon even Valencia would fancy his chances against Evra these days.

To be fair, playing him week in week out is ridiculous. Maybe if he was a backup player, or had genuine competition.. he'd be more fresher for certain games.

You don't agree that a 32 year old attacking full back needs a rest after playing vast majority if every game for the past how many years?

Thank good he improved 2nd half. But why does he always need a kick up his butt first?

That's the worst display from him I've ever seen, and he has some bad ones recently. Pls retire.
these retire calls are just silly. He has played more minutes this season than just about anyone else in one of the most demanding positions.

If Baines comes in next week then I won't be complaining.

The effort/jogging back didn't seem as bad today - which is my biggest gripe with Evra - but he defended like a baffoon yet again, in the first half anyway.

I don't know, I haven't got his fitness stats to see how he's shaping up so I can't judge. This "rest" stuff is bizarre because nobody knows how tired he is after matches and his training routines. All I see is someone who constantly switches off and cannot deal with anyone who runs at him.

It's not just physical tiredness I imagine.

That said I agree we need a new LB. If we can convince Evra to stay as 2nd choice then excellent

It seems pretty obvious that at his age he can't keep playing every game running up and down the flank non-stop.

We need to either start giving Fabio some proper game time or bring in another LB so that we can rotate that position like we do pretty much every other one.

It certainly explains our right wing position doesn't it.....

Interviewer: "Moyes, why do you persist with Valencia on the right wing?"

Moyes:"I can't understand why he's so shite in games, he's making mince meat out of Evra in training"

I:"Why do you play Young on the right when Valencia can't play there?"

M:"Well Young is shite on the left wing in training but we can't play Januzaj there every game, we thought we'd try him on the right against Evra and it was a revelation, he was getting past him every time and putting in some good crosses so we decided we'd play him there occasionally in games but to our surprise he's been terrible there. It doesn't make any sense..."

Awful, atrocious, ghastly in the first half, but very good in the second half! I was mad as hell with him after the first half, but c'mon guys, he played a very good second half.

I don't think anyone can call him lazy. He's clearly physically incapable of playing so many games within a short space of days. He needs a rest, but Fabio is probably leaving next month and Buttner is fecking shite.

 so bad today it was almost funny. We expect so much from him in terms of effort etc. Plays pretty much every game from start to finish.

I've got enough of him. He's shown us all very clearly why Moyes was desperate for Baines this summer.

What pisses me off the most is when he just switches off and doesn't bother tracking simple, straight forward runs.

As of yet the only man who's made Russel Martin actually deserve his nickname of the Norfolk Cafu.

fecking shocking today. I'd bench him for the rest of the season if I were Moyes.

If he was a horse he'd have been put out to pasture a long long time ago.

I do feel sorry for him in the sense that he's practically had to play every match for about 4 years now. It certainly can't have helped his aging process.

24 starts this season (in PL, CL + LC) for United. De Gea highest on 27 then Evra 24, Rooney 21(+2 sub), Jones 19(2), Valencia 18(5), Evans 17 then Cleverley 16(4) and Vidic 16. So I'd suggest Evra has started at least 6 matches too many, given his age and the fact that he also starts for France.

Probably needs a rest. The amount of ground he covers year in year out is ridiculous. Thought he did better in the second half and kept the ball well towards the end.

As well as the fact that this run of games isn't one off, it's happened continuously for a few seasons now! I'm sure he'd be a lot more effective if we could afford to rest him at least 1 in 5 games. He looks totally shot to me.

was better in the second half than first, that's for sure.

No chance of a rest v Tottenham, but the game v Swansea straight after in the cup makes sense to wheel out Bai...sorry Buttner ;)

He needs rest. And cover. And competition. Looked knackered from the whistle almost. And his lack of focus was frightening, especially in the first half. Looked like he was nursing a hangover.

I won't get on his case, though. He's getting too old to play as often as he does, it's evident. We need to make a few decisions here. Either get him a proper understudy - or, well. Perhaps it's time to say merci and adieu soon.

another poor display from evra, especially from defensive point of view. he has lost his energy. hope moyes can find a time and space for evra to recuperate and get his fitness back on track. he is physically tired for sure.

He was very good second half though. Why do so few focus on that and instead focus on what was, admittedly, an abysmal first half? In the second half, Snodgrass got nothing from Evra who also started to contribute in attack.

There is so much negativity in this place!

this guy has played ad infinitum, no rest...hardly ever injured and yeah..sometimes has lapses...but he is so United through and through with whatever he says and as stated by Moyes brilliant in the dressing room. It's so easy for people to just toss all this aside. I'm so glad we still have him...he's apparently brilliant with the younger players...and understands what United is about. We need people like this at the moment.
