He wasn't shocking. Just completely ran out of gas in the last 10 minutes

100% agree. He worked his arse (pun not intended) off the entire match and ran out of steam the last ten minutes. Disconcertingly, that happened midweek too. He needs to be rested a bit more.

I actually thought he played very, very well for at least 80 minutes.

If you guys can get a hold of the full match, after the whistle when Van Persie is applauding the fans on the pitch, Evra goes up to him and gives him a chest bump and yells 'Let's go!' The day he leaves United will be a very sad day. It's clear the passion he has for the club.

I was shitting myself from the 60th minute onwards. His positional sense and concentration leaves a lot to be desired. I was convinced that bringing on Giggs would be a mistake too. Last we needed was less legs down that left hand side.

The left side is the most interesting tactical area since Moyes took over I think.

Evra has clearly been instructed to get forward and wide very often with Kagawa tucking in on the left to give him room to overlap and I think they're both still getting to grips with exactly what Moyes wants them to do.

I think Evra works with Young (and to an extent Januzaj) better than Kagawa :nervous: He like industrious players who can overlap on the line. Kagawa tends to cut in to the middle too often to provide cover for Evra's runs.

Brilliant match from him. He needs to be rested more often. Why aren't Buttner/Fabio even considered as backup?

Brilliant? Really? Every chance Arsenal had came from his side and him getting caught up field

Half the time he had to cover the entire pitch himself while Kagawa struggled to get back after he drifts inside. Can't blame him for that. Considering the circumstances, Pat did well. Ran out of gas at the end as the others have said, but he was stuck facing multiple men ahead of him for most of the game.

A gold fish has a five second memory span; yours is about ten minutes. That happened only in the last ten minutes where, admittedly, Evra looked completely knackered.

He literally had 3 men to deal with at some points, the lack of protection he was getting at times from our midfielders and Kagawa in the second half was non-existant.

First half, when Jones was in midfield being a beast and we had Vidic organising at the back, Arsenal didn't have a sniff anywhere.

Do one.

No shit. Arsenal were virtually toothless for the first 60 minutes. If he was nackered he shouldn't have roamed out of his positon so much.

He looked absolutely bollocksed from around the 70th minute. Obviously that should have been a sign for him to stop pushing forward as much, as he wasn't able to get back, but he didn't seem inclined to do that. He needs proper rests. Unfortunately that probably means it's Buttner time.

That's the main pb about his game, when he really gets to the point where he is tired, Evra should not go forward as much as usual because it makes him returning to his defensive position a lot more difficult. A lot of people think maybe it's because he is lazy but I think it's because he's completely tired. Like you said around the 70th min, depending on the match's context (if we're trailing a goal or not etc etc ...), it's not a must for him to keep pushing forward.

It''s no wonder Evra looks knackered at times. He runs his butt off down that wing and for the last 2 matches he's had to play with Kagawa supposedly in front of him. I say supposedly because Kagawa hasn't really played as a left winger in those 2 matches which has therefore increased the amount of work Evra's had to do. Moyes needs to address the LW problem.

So you don't think he should attack so much? You know that he is an attacking fullback, right? He was a big part of Arsenal being toothless for the first 60 minutes as he and the rest of United closed shop. Out of position - what does that even mean?

Arsenal's best chances, if you can call them that came from Sagna who isn't Evra's man. It's the job of the left winger to stop that.

Evra's been one of our best players this season, in my opinion. His dribbling has been fantastic, as always, but tactically he's been superb and somehow he's crossing the ball well for the first time i can remember.

He's being groomed into Baines Mk II, which is not exactly his style nor he's capable of. But hats off to the vice captain, he just gets on with it, do his best, and works his ass off every time he puts that United shirt on.

Enough said.

No, honestly - what does it mean? That laughing argument of yours is truly brilliant - post of the year, mate.

Is Evra out of position if he heads clear a cross or when he intercepts the ball inside the eighteen yard box far from his "Position". Is he out of position when he attacks down the left side or even cuts inside?

It's a silly argument as you seem to argue that Evra's position is nailed down to one particular place on the pitch and has no freedom to roam about. Of course he should depend, but he's about is vital to our attack as he is our defence, as most modern fullbacks are.

I hate it when he crosses it so early Baines style, he hasn't got the proper technique to do that. I remember the game Adnan scored a brace, his first goal came from a classic Evra low drive after running down the left wing.

He sometimes pulls it off with those high crosses, but most are just floating harmlessly into the Gk hands. His low crosses are better, but maybe he's instructed to mix the high and low crosses to be more unpredictable.

So obvious that he loves the club. I don't want him to leave :(

Nice goal again but even at this point in his career he hasn't got a clue how to defend.

I was fuming when I saw how he lost his man for their goal... Then they showed a close up of his crestfallen face and I just couldn't stay mad at him... :(

Played well and he wasn't the only one to blame for the last minute goal. Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans did themselves no favors either.

Our whole back four was shaky on setpieces. We really do need Nemanja Vidic otherwise we just look vulnerable.

I'd rather a LB who can defend. Switched off completely for their second and cancelled out what had been a great goal, but at this point we should be used to him switching off at this point.

Great fella who obviously loves the club but he'll continue to switch off in defense and it will continue to cost us.

Technically, he was. It was his man. That's not to say any of our other defenders covered themselves in glory - but Pat knew it as well. You could see his face after the goal :(

Love him to bits though.
